Honestly, 5 kills and 2 deaths is very impressive for your first couple hours of playing. Especially in the KV-2, which is not the easiest tank to play nor very competitive. Daki's kill shot on the plane with the main gun was excellent too. Spookston and/or OddBawz crossover when?

I wrote this for a WoT RU-vidr that was giving War Thunder a go years ago. I hope this helps. -Know your ammo. What it's for, what it does and how much you need. -Know your tank. What it can and can't do well, what your gun depression is, turret traverse, etc. -Keep your head on a swivel. Always be looking around. Keep an eye (or maybe a 1/2 an eye) on your minimap. React to what you see or you notice your team doing. -Think. This is a game that you earn huge dividends if you can outsmart your opponent. Many players have little patience...use it. -Know the weakspots and other weaknesses of the other tanks -Know the weakspots and other weaknesses of YOUR tank. Mitigate them as best you can. -Listen. Wear headphones if you like, but keep an ear out for the sounds of the enemy. Machine guns, engine sounds, etc. -Remember it's not World of Tanks. Don't expect the same rules and tactics to apply. -Do the tutorial missions in the game. You learn how to play, and earn some good rewards in silver and gold. -You get rewarded by doing stuff...capturing objectives, spotting enemies, bouncing shells, fixing friendlies, etc. -Don't forget to spend those XPs you earn in the game on crew skills and module upgrades. -Keep your lineup at about the same BR (Battle Rating). MM is +/-1 BR...but it's the highest vehicle BR in your lineup. -Keep in mind what your vehicle was designed to do. The StuG IIIA (for example) is a close support vehicle (note the short gun barrel), so you kinda need to be a bit closer in to be effective (Think crazy Dutchman with the funny Spanish curved helmet, armed with a blunderbuss). Best to be hidden, and ambush fools as they drive by. If you're in a long-ranged duel, you are at a disadvantage. However... -Break the rules if it gives you an advantage. -Use your binos...Also, know that when looking through them, if you click the 'shoot main gun' button, the turret will align the gun to where you're looking. Also, the binos and gunsight collect light better than your eye at night, so useful in night battles when it can be VERY dark. -Armor angling works. -Mark is a bit wrong about getting killed by players 'you can't see'. He means 'that you didn't see'. Watch your replay and you'll see exactly what you overlooked...and what you did right and wrong. -You can test drive vehicles you've unlocked and all Premiums ones. -Support other players. -Use common sense. See that rickety wooden train car? Shoot through it and kill the enemy behind it. Many buildings, walls, etc. are destructible. If you drive a tank into the side of a mountain at 50 kph, don't be shocked if you knock out your own crew. -Use artillery wisely. Drive the enemy away from a defensive position. Punish him for capping. Heck, use it to scout an unseen area, or as a distraction. -Hear a bomb dropping? Get out of Dodge. Fast. -Smoke is in the game, fired by the tanks (grenades) and as full-on smoke shells from your gun. -Make sure you add an AA vehicle or two...they respawn for the fewest points. -Yes, this is too long

WT is a different type of game, never played it myself, but for years i always thought it would be great for WoT to have a competitor, the game would definitely be in a better place nowadays..

I know you probably wont play this game again but a few tips. - dont bring full ammo, more ammo in the tank means a higher chance it will be hit and youll experience a cookoff. - furthermore, ammo with the highest performance dosent mean its the best, you need to think of post penetrative damage. Is the tanks armour too thin? APHE rounds wont fuse and HVAP/SABOT rounds would just zip right through. Does the tank have composite, exposive reactive armour, slat/spaced armour? HEAT/HE will be ineffective. - you didnt switch to AP belts when shooting the m50 in your ostwind, so his armour just ate all the HE rounds. - dont smoke when being shot at, itll just blind you and you wont be able to retaliate. Smoke/smoke shells is most effective at covering retreats, blind enemies by firing smoke shells at them, covering certain corridors etc. - playing bombers like fighters will just get you killed also you cant drop bombs sideways -wot tactics wont work in wt, shooting a maus' periscope wont do anything and using your gun to block rounds will just result in your gun getting destroyed.

Couple of pointers: NEVER bring a full ammo load (unless the tank has low ammo from the start), always angle armor if possible and hit weak spots (hatches, side or rear armor etc). Otherwise you did great for noobs

now i wonder how QB will manage in war thunder As someone who migrated long ago from WOT to WT, this was equally as painful to watch as it is hilarious

I tried this game once. The grind in this is insane. And the low tiers are no fun.

Grinding vehicles in War Thunder is a FULL time job, just to let anyone tempted into trying it know the facts beforehand.

if wot is bs, war thunder is double bs.

In War Thunder, no armor is best armor. Also don't take full ammo, only take what you need for one spawn, i.e. about 20 shells. Otherwise you will get ammo racked a lot. One last thing, lower music volume and don't shoot if you are not sure to kill, this game relays a lot on sound, and players will hear your engine before you peak a corner.

From what I see. Wot players Rush ahead of battle, They Engage first, they try to find confrontations, they filled the ammo racks full of shells and they hit specific shots that either good or irrelevant to the vehicle as it doesn't hit any important parts or crew. What they can improve. Go in specific positions, lie wait and be patient, turn off engines and hope that you're not in arcade. Do not engage first trigger and just shoot whichever unless it is a vehicle with low points on armor, but if it is, it'll just bounce right off, learn the enemy's weakpoints and try and send a shell on it by aiming steadily, preferably go for the center of mass. That's the basics playing WT, which is why it is a bit funny seeing them rush on ahead first to battle without securing positions, oh well at least they have fun.

This makes me actually happy i play wot mostly. I tried WT twice, both times didnt work out for me, constant dying. I kneww this game was more complex and complicated than wo twhci seems simple compared, but man it was just depressing to play

Left WoT for WT 3 years ago, never expected to see you play WT. Game is not easy specially on Realistic Battles but is damn fun to play once you understand how everything works

I potato in both WoWS and WT. Did not like to potato in WoT. In WT you must know the map like WoT but also pay attention to the surrounding sounds and even some objects like trees falling so you have a chance to shoot first. Then you are bombed. And it is up to us to play along our teammates. We must stay around them, not close. Support their charges and help them repair. As Jinggles say a teammate is someone else for the enemy to shoot.

I was reminded again why I love skill. Whenever he laughs from the soul, I cannot help myself but to laugh along with him, it's so addicting!

2:55 Every one of my wt experiences summed up in this 1 20 seconds.... find what looks like a weak target proceed to bounce 30+ shots off of it with 0 effect shrapnel going every where what looks like should damage something is doing literally nothing while the target leisurely panns its turret towards you in a hale of sparks sand shrapnel hitting it constantly for it to click once hit you any where indiscriminatly and it instantly ammo racks or kills all your crew in 1 hit.. while you just dumped 30+ devistating looking hits.. to just pein the metal a little

The grind is a killer in WT, at least you managed to avoid most of that :) (also, you can use machine guns to damage barrels and prevent people from firing back.....sometimes.....)

I don’t know if anyone else picked this up, but I used to play WOT’s and quite playing because of obvious reasons. One of the tactics used in WOT’s is to use your gun barrel to block an enemy to shoot your capolla. Lol! It’s a tactic that does not work in War Thunder. I saw skill use that tactic in the first half of the video. Lol! The WOT’s player came out big time there!!!! LMAO!!!!!! Anyway, yeah the learning curve is massive. But once you learn the maps, positions, and etc. it’s not easy but you become better. Just have fun, and that’s it. It’s a game.

I played WoT when it first came out and i stopped playing it when they released the Chrysler GF tank. Greed was too much for me so I switched to warthunder and it was painful. Warthunder is much less accessible than WoT, with an obscene amount of controls and system knowledge like binocular firing for instance, knowing not only pen values and what shells specifically do but also where to shoot tanks to disable crew or modules etc. But in the long run Warthunder is so much more worth it than WoT, its so much more immersive, so many more tanks and possesses a strategy WoT will never have. And the devs at Gaijin are nowhere near as greedy as wargaming, whilst they have faults, they respect their players a lot more.

This Game is total pain in my ass. Everything i struggle with WoT, i Play it for about an Hour. Then i have so much hate and frust in me, that i feel Big love for wot and Go back 😂

The only reason I don't play War Thunder is that you cant zoom out. I feel too claustrophobic.

WarThunder is so much more realistic and also less frustating

I've tried WT once or maybe twice. Not bad, but I have to admit that I like the mechanics in WOT way more better.

Once in a while the Baboon Army should descend upon WT, with an even spread of Air, Anti-Air and Tanks. =)

War Thunder is kinda fun, more tank battle simulator than WoT with the one-hit kills and lots of guys hiding waiting for you

let me tell you DONT fill your tank with ammo, the amo explodes, thats why you died so often, if they hit your ammo you will become a bomb, its like you walk covered with oil saying: pleasee someonee turn me ooon!!

you can zoom out a bit, and peak corner without the tank peaking, press B to try to see enemy tanks further, scroll middle mouse so you can adjust how far or upwards you will aim in scope mode

Finally. actually I've given up my 12 yr wot progress for WoT. Surprised that I got so many premium without spending via Events. Lmao, i was able to catch up in 1 yr of playing, this month is my 1st yr annivasery of playing WT.

if you want to get better, i'd recommend spookston's tips for beginner video, it teaches you the basic ground rules of war thunder

i would say that, if you play WT for the first time do it in arcade not real, you get used to tanks, BRs maps ...etc despite what so many players will say (Arcade is lame) not everyone started in RB and they like to hide/ignore it when they started many many years ago.
