I grew up on a farm but now live In the city. So I am living vicariously through you and your family on this channel. Thank you so much I love watching all the improvements and growth you have done. I also love watching your family grow and learn together. Fantastic channel thank you so much!
The whole concept of bringing in the cows and sheep and then letting the pigs dig for the corn and at the end having this amazing compost! I just love it! I think it’s so cool! I can’t wait to do it!
That reminds me of my childhood. Only we herded pigs and 2 cows into the lower level of the barn. The bull had his own stall and the cows and the pigs shared. It worked and made Ohio winter work easier. Uncle Paul cleared the barn floor every Spring when he moved them all out to pasture again. I think you will like it. Have fun kids, those hay bales look great! LOL Thanks for sharing. Stay safe.
Fantastic development Justin. A great way to keep your "flerd" close and warm and easy to maintain during your winter months. Really looking forward to seeing the compost material coming out once the pigs have done the hard work and really processed it up for you. Big Hello from Australia. We are such fans of your channel and your videos. You are an inspiration to Homesteaders around the world. Thank you for everything you do mate.
It looks very impressive!! You have a choice now, you can rest sometimes and work sometimes. With the baby coming, I think you might be in the house more often, for awhile. Enjoy it!! Liz
Cows are funny my angus go a little nuts from time to time dont worry about the sheep and cows they get used to each other when i first put my sheep with the cows the sheep couldnt go near the cows after a couple weeks they were best friends
Slippery slope, he’s going factory farm folks! 😀 I’m not going through all the work of transporting fertility when I can keep them on the direct deposit program.
your next purchase for the farm should be a manure spreader for the tractor, a pto driven one would be better for you, you can use it to put wood chip in the barn, spread compost on the pasture and on the gardens, you can also use it to mix soil and compost and sand into each other, it will also be useful to pile material up for a compost pile and you can also use the manure spreader as a trailer for moving things about like when you harvest the gardens because it can hold more than a side by side
I follow a channel that explains why Scottish farmers keep their cows in barns year round. They also use the same methods to keep their cows out of inclement weather and they grow better and produce more milk when they do not have to put food resources into staying warm. Anyway, sounds like a good idea all around.
I think the large bale feeder from Eden Shale Farm would work great with your cattle feeding system if you have the ability to raise the gates each time you load the system.
Have you read Temple Grandin she is a writer on handling livestock especially moving them she is on ytube mainly for autism but some stock handling Enjoy
it looks very nice. So when you milk you can go right in the barn and do it there. a lot of stress off of the chores that get done everyday. enjoy watching your video's. God Bless
Fantastic. Looks great. Hay Animals everything has come together. Will the Hay stay dry if it rains and wind blows. I know you put on pallets. Area is open to the Elements. Would of been nice to run Water underground to the Pole Barn. Takes time. Looks great will be very good for all. God Bless and Peace Be With You All
Yup - soil microbes are busier in warm weather, cool down along with the weather. And, making chores easier and more convenient in inclement weather is better ..... as we are getting ... older!! Not so hard to do the pasture moving in sunny weather ;)
Wow! This came together beautifully! Fantastic work Rhodes’ family ❤️ Having 2 testosterone charged animals in the same area may always be an issue, since they have spontaneous bouts of feeling froggy.
I mean.. I’ve seen a ram take down a cow before but he had big old horns, and we were guessing he caught her in the temple or something but never thought in a million years that the ram would have won
