Shailu S Thank you so much! If it’s your passion do it! Don’t let anyone or anything stop you ♥️ as for my sleep pattern it’s a long story of lots going on all at once 😂 but I’m working on my time management 🙈
Try these out, the vichy mineral 89 is really good at keeping the skin plump, hydrating and fresh. I work at target, so I'm familiar and use these products. I would put the target link but the brand website had a better deal. www.vichyusa.com/french-beauty-skin-care-set-frenchbeautyskincareset.html?cgid=facial-cleanser-toner#start=4&cgid=facial-cleanser-toner be sure to use their code "French" to get two 15 ml mask. Also I'm not making $ off this I just love seeing deals
Yep! I'm a former member of milk of magnesia anonymous. My skin got so bad and when I stopped, things got better. Butttttt, it kept me shine free more than any product I've tried EVER. If only a company can take the formula and revamp it to make it skin friendly.
GirlRatesWorld Exactly! That’s why I kept going back to it. I’ve heard of people using it every now and then like once in a few months but my skin is too parched for all that 🙅🏾
This is what I switched to doing after using MOM occasionally for about a year - works wonders! EDIT: I switched to applying loose powder to my T-zone before and after applying foundation.
Actually, milk of magnesia cured my teenage forehead acne. My mom read about it in a magazine and suggested it to me since I tried everything else and nothing worked. I would only put it on at night before bed and wash it off in the morning. Might not be great for all day use under makeup but it did wonders for my pimples!!!
I was going to comment the same thing. Its an old school remedy for large pores and acne. Its best to use it as a mask. Its edible so its better than chemical products.
MOM contains magnesium hydroxide (absorbs lipids from your skin) and sodium hypochlorite which is a bleaching agent that is much too harsh. Also the PH is around 10.5 which is also too high & can damage skin over time. Some however claim it's more effective as a deodorant due to it's moisture absorbing properties. "In other words, if a high ph can increase the risk of a bacteria infection, the loss of sweat can reduce it. So, in this case, and this case only, the benefits of MOM are greater than its side effects." I hope this helps !
Ive used MOM twice, during the Beyonce concert Last year and a wedding. I was dancing at both events and people were like you don’t have any sweat on your face. It does keep you matte and makeup in place. Now it’s in my closet collecting dust. I swear by the Becca matte poreless primer for everyday use.
People really out here doing that. Honestly, though i'm not surprised. I feel like if some insta model said putting human feces on her face made her skin better, people would dive into a septic tank.
Skincare is the key. When I was dealing with skin issues all makeup looked bad. When I started taking better care of my skin, all I needed was a dab of concealer! My oil problems greatly decreased
I have been using it for about 5yrs, and it actually improved my skin. I also have a great skin care routine in removing my makeup. Everyone's skin is different so to each is own.
Agree. But you don't know if it's magnesium. Personal observations can not be accurate. I have never use it and my skin become dry with the age. Had I used it,I would blame it. Actual studies include placebo group and many people, not just obe or two.
Captain here: Eating high fat food seldom translate to oily skin, that is not possible. Oily skin often is a result of hormone imbalances, many women can experience this when on the pill. Talk to your Dr if the problems are unbearable, sometimes it gets better from using the pill, sometimes it gets worse, all this is very much depending on your chemical composition of the skin. Milk of magnesia is related to lye, a very high pH (pH 8-12) substance used for deep cleaning, and I would guess that it has melted into your skin, probably destroyed the sebum producing areas. It will take a few years for those areas to regenerate, if ever. The increase in white heads is a reaction to the damage of the sebum producing areas, where other parts of the skin tries to compensate for the loss of naturally oil producing areas. Skin care needs to be around pH 5,5-6 (slightly acidic) to match the natural skin pH. Deviating from this for a long period of time may damage your skin permanently, like you just experienced. *flies away*
GIRLLLLL, this is the first video of yours I've EVER watched, and you blow my mind in the first 5 seconds by sounding like Beyoncé. YOU. GO. MISS. THANG. I truly hope you use that talent and often. And when you sing to people, and you're finished, just say to them 'you're welcome', and walk away. You're STUNNING in every possible way. Happy New Year 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 By the way, there is a FANTASTIC RU-vid dermatologist called Dr Dray, who talks mainly about skin care items, and what we are buying into with the marketing, the brands, the ingredients etc. Sadly, I found out I'm doing pretty much everything wrong, BUT, I will be starting to save myself an ASSLOAD of money doing things the right way. But she mentions this method, and it's been used by makeup artists many times on runway models to achieve that matte effect. So girl you're not wrong 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Everyone should sub this Doctor's channel, she only has 25K viewers, and she gives out for free such PRICELESS info. Also, she answered my questions within HALF HOUR. She's amazing and deserves so many more viewers, as do you. But you got a lot girl. Keep up the great work 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼 Where you started wondering why your skin was dry, I started wondering why my life was going to shit, and I didn't want to believe it was the OxyContin addiction. Haha. Sorry, I over share. But, as of February 2010, haven't touched it. So that's a good thing 💪🏼💪🏼
That’s weird I’ve been using it for awhile because I have oily skin, and I’ve never had any problems. But I understand, different people experience different things! Your eyeshadow is bombbb btw.
same here I have been using it for a little over 8 years and no issues for me...but then again I do prep and prime my skin first with something else before putting on MOMA...and I only put the MOMA on my t-zone and I do it everyday and I have no skin issues...I also deep clean and wash my face every night...I guess it depends on the skin type and how it reacts...no issues for me
Aja White Lmao, no one is bleaching their skin ma’am. Haven’t noticed my skin getting any lighter, and actually no. I’ve been all skin colors use it. What works for me works for me. It may not work for you, but that’s you. You are entitled to your own opinion. ❤️
Damn it! Your makeup is so on fleek! 🔥 I never put Milk of Magnesia on my face and I never will! For me it's too weird and I was sure it was bad for the skin.. But the majority of black girls literally LIVE for that.. Makes me sad.. Thumbs up from Paris, France girl!
when I worked in a pharmacy occasionally we would have older white women come in and say they did that. I got the impression it was more for anti wrinkles/smoother skin than anything else. For their age something was working right. I'm pretty sure they slept with it on. Was a few years ago so I'm a bit fuzzy on the details.
“the majority of black girls live for that....” really! The majority? I’ve never heard of doing this and none of the black women I know do this. “Majority.”
You know when someone’s skin was made for make up...it suits you perfectly.God bless your consistency and time create quality videos.Youre blessed🙏🙏 #1 fan lowkey😊
If you can keep it to JUST oily spots and even then ONLY on special occasions it's the bomb... That's the problem! It works soo good that you're tempted to use it everyday. DON'T!
I too stopped using it after I notice such a harsh change in my skin. I tried out Becca, but it made me even more oily. I started using NYX Angel Veil as my primer about 3 weeks ago and OMG!!! That is now my official go to at all times. With the help of my Laura Mercier setting powder I don’t get the least bit oily until after hour 7 of my makeup being on. I’m very pleased. I used to get oily literally an hour after doing my makeup.
This explains why the texture on my nose and center of my forehead feels the way it does. I've been using it for 5 years. Wow....I'm sad lol! I loved how well it controlled the oil under my make up. BUT I'm glad to know that I can begin to restore health to those areas on my face by discontinuing use. Thank you for sharing your experience.
Oh my goodness, I'm so glad I came across your video today. I began using Milk of Magnesia all over my face since Sunday night leaving it on as an overnight mask. I followed the instructions of another YT influencer esthetician sharing how she applies it all over her face every night to tighten her skin, and she's in her late 50's with beautiful skin without sagging jowls. I'm 55 years old, so I thought it would help tighten my complexion in a healthy way while I sleep. Today, when I looked at my face in the car mirror, I was very concerned. My face looked dehydrated, older and fine lines were much more pronounced. I didn't know it would suck out all the much needed moisture from my skin. When I was a teenager many years ago, I used tmilk of magnesia to control acne and whiteheads. But I had youthful combination skin and lived in humid Florida as a teen in those days. Now, I have dry skin, in menopause & living in Maryland. You just helped my skin significantly!! Thank you so much for sharing!
Do you also use this lady’s skincare line? If so you don’t have to worry because she has been using MOM for many years as a mask overnight. Ans she has beautiful skin. The other thing she explicitly says is to NOT use foundation and concealer.
I was downstairs and left my computer opened, came back up to find that my cat had been playing videos, no joke. I'd stopped on Wayne Goss and she came here and then on to other videos lol. I'm already subbed so she has good taste! She also had to turn my laptop on...
Crazy part is I never even thought of it until I went to a class with celeb muas 👀 and that's the 1st thing they said to do!!! I stopped about 1 and a half years ago. Nothing happened to my skin but I just stopped because it's not for the face and I just can no longer consider it as a pro MUA.
Makeup Muvah I’ve seen it being done too and although I don’t think using it once or twice is going to make all that big a difference for most people, using it consistently may definitely pose a problem. But idk if I would want that kind of liability on my hands if I were an MUA 🤔 especially a celeb MUA at that. You just never know how someone’s skin might react to it. Just my thoughts though 🤷🏾♀️
Youkeyy yea, that's why I stopped. I realized I was fed the wrong info by people I THOUGHT knew better. I stopped using it on MYSELF 1 1/2 years ago...i stopped using it on my clients about 6 months into my makeup journey after some research. So it hasn't been used on my clients in about 3 years. Luckily I stopped before anyone had any reactions.
The milk of magnesia ruined my face. I got these horrible patchy dry spots my face, and it broke out all over with cystic acne. It's crazy, that stuff can be so dangerous to our skin. I'm glad your skin has recovered!
But MOM is da shizznit!!! Am yet to find any primer out there dat controls oil like MOM. I used to use it alot couple of years ago and I'd always get one or two breakouts. Now I only use it on special occasions. But I plan to use it on my wedding day(whenever that is) cuz i need to stay matte af!
I'm glad you made this because SO many people use it. I'm always trying to explain why it's so bad but like you say, they don't listen because I've never used it myself
I'm addicted too..I've been using MOM since the queens taught me a little over 20 years ago. I used to do make up for drag shows and they actually taught me this trick. I yet to have a problem at all after using it all these years. I wear makeup everyday for work, but not on the weekends. So I've been doing this almost everyday for over 20 years. If I had to stop using it, I don't know what i'd do. In my opinion, theres nothing on the market that works as well. My skin is so oily it probably off sets my skin getting dry from using MOM. I don't know but maybe it's just not for everybody. Your skin is nice though...and that shadow is making me feel faint girl! Loving it..
I use it and have no issues. I take care of my skin very well. I'LL be 35 and people swear I'm young and be trying to talk to me crazy too LOL. I have to stop them in their tracks lol.
I've always been scared to use MOM and Becca Ever Matte is too pricey for me. I'll stick to Rimmel Stay Matte primer or NYX Angel Veil and mini bake with a mattifying primer before my foundations.
EC DC *THIS IS THE PERFECT COMMENT FOR THOSE ASKING HOW TO CONTROL OILY SKIN UNDER MAKEUP!* I put it in all caps so hopefully they scroll by and see this 😂
EC DC my skin is a combination of very oily “like I been frying myself in oil” on my t zone and super dry on the rest, I have tried loads of primers and only milk of magnesia been working with me even tho I have been having the exact same side effects as she, gonna give it a no at nyx and baking, thanks soo much for your coment xx
Youkeyy thanks soo much for this video, I knew it was damaging my skin somehow but this video just made me sure as no one seems to really talk about it, just hard to find a primer with the same mattefiying results.. also I love the colours of you lipstick it’s that a combination?? Tutorial for this look PLEASEEEEEEE♥️
Ive recently tried the Rimmel stay matt primer but unfortunately after about 30mins it was super oily again. I loved the Kiko matt primer but theyve changed the formula which was a huge bummer! Ill stick to the m.o.m as it really does the job. Ill check out your other suggestion too.
Yall might want to try the soap and glory primer called one heck of a blot. I'm super oily and I stayed matte for a longer amount of hours so it might work.
Thank you thank you for addressing this on RU-vid. For years I kept telling young women to stop putting that junk on their face and they would look at me like I was nuts. I remembered in my college days all that we did in chemistry class with milk of magnesia and I seriously cringe when I see young women with beautiful faces putting that crap all over their skin and I'm like, "why are u slathering metal in your face"????
Makeup Love this is exactly what I do. I use a regular primer all over my face first, and then the SLIGHTEST amount of diluted MOM only in the areas that I get oily. So slight that the area doesn’t even get white when it dries. It’s been three years and my face hasn’t changed. If you’re like me and nothing else works for you, dilute, and use the smallest amount. You do not need to slather your entire face! You don’t need to look like a ghost! And please take care of your skin underneath your makeup.
Makeup Love I do half ELF matte clear setting spray and half MOM. I spray it on a sponge (beauty blender) and dab it on my oily parts and then put my makeup on top. I do this after toner, vitamin c , Moisturizer and spf

Completely off topic, but girl you have the most beautiful face shape. And whatever that lip combo is looks AMAZING with your skin tone. You are stunning!
asia tanee In this video I packed on the fenty beauty universal gloss bomb. I put on so much that I think it may have mixed with the but of foundation on my lips and that’s probably why it looks more orange
when you put the song about balance i died laughing. oh man. im checking out the rest of your vids tonight. you're really funny but down to earth and smart at the same time
This look! I’m about to watch the tutorial for the fourth time! Great info. I never tried that because I don’t have oily skin but I thought it was interesting. Your bone structure is amazing! #thebalance 😂😂😂
Kishispirit iMakeup Thank you so much! But omg can we talk about how the second guy stays so serious getting close to the mic like he’s saying something so profound? 😂 Bahlance bahlance
Omgaaaaaaaa! Your so beautiful!! & you’re eyes!!! Are🔥🔥🔥🔥I’ll call that the “purple rain!” 😍😍😍😍reminds me of Prince colors. Love! Love! Looooove!!!😍😍😍😍
I can totally relate...in just one month my face was turning into something else. From having mini acne to full time acne battle🤦🏾♀️ if I could take it all back I would but I thank God I stopped ASAP.I’m sorry it affected your skin but girl on your snaps your skin is glowing now🙅🏻🙅🏻
Before you go to bed but after you put on moisturizer, serums, etc, try putting on a layer of vaseline. It’s too thick to absorb or clog pores, all it does is keep your face’s natural oils and moisture in and increases the effectiveness of the serums etc you use
, a lot of women on RU-vid have stopped wearing makeup and their skin cleared up and started using natural products my skin cleared up to as well I just had to give up the smoking and drinking long as you eat healthy and moisturize good your good there is no need for all that
Yup I did the same once I stopped I no longer had cystic acne... the staying power is still not matched but thankfully that super dry look is out lol 😂
Youkeyy oh I'm no where near done lol I have hyperpigmentation and fading acne marks what help was makeupartistchoice.com they have products and peels that helped a lot
wait i have cystic acne. i've never tried it. could you tell me what you mean by no longer having cystic acne? did you have cyst that were already in your skin and used the product first ? or did you no longer get cystic acne anymore after you used it? thanks girl
kelsea thomas I had more Whiteheads to start easily fixed with keeping your face clean and a mask. But once I started using MOM I began to develop painful cyst that I thought were general acne! they would grow large under the surface and were had to get rid with anything! Once I switch primers finally I saw those type of cyst stop I still have mild acne n scarring but nothing like with that product. I can’t even return to it now because my face will breakout within a day, it has staying power like no other but once you wash your face it’s another story it’s almost a build up under the skin of this stuff even with oil cleansing It won’t remove all the layers of it from under your makeup I finally used baking soda which is my favorite face exfoliate (gentle without the mini tears in the skin) to get rid of the build up and soft my skin, takes time but I’ll take the oily face that painful cysts any day
Oh, one GREAT tip hardly any women know about. If you take a daily dose of Evening Primrose Oil, it will help your skin retain moisture. Also, it aids in female issues immensely . I'm pre menopause, so I was cycling every 4-5 months (sorry, TMI), which sounds awesome, but the sooner you go into menopause, the more at risk you are for a host of health issues, including female cancers. Within 5 days of taking Primrose Oil, my cycle was back to clockwork like I was 20 again. And reduced the cramping HUGELY. Try it. You won't regret it. I've tried almost every primer and foundation out there. I am an ADDICT. I need a 12 step makeup program. The Laura Mercier illuminating primer does a nice job of giving a very subtle and natural dewy glow, under a semi matte foundation. The Smashbox HD primer is LIKE VELVET, and does a very nice job of reducing pores and mattifying also. The best foundation I've found recently, is the Wet N Wild photo Focus, but, it may have broken my skin out (the foundation), which almost never happens. I'm sure you know this already, but I'm new here, so I promise I'm only trying to help. Your makeup game is SICKENING and perfect. Jealous. Oh. The Maybelline Fit Me stick foundation is surprisingly nice also, semi matte, feels like velvet going on. I have yet to try a luxury foundation that I love, so I'm not mad at that.PS: I am 43, so way different skin most likely, i.e. TERRIBLE haha
Omg my skin broke out like crazyyy and now my entire face is COMPLETELYYYY full of whiteheads. From my forehead to my chin! I was wondering what could be causing it but now hearing you mention the M.O.M makes perfect sense! I've been using it for about 3 years. I used to have the super oily kind of skin also but yes i can admit to it being alot dryer now. Thanks for this video sis. I'll stop using it & monitor my skin from there. ❤
I couldn’t focus on what you were saying because I was focus on the colors on your eyeshadow and how to re-create this look cause sis!!!!!’ I need a tutorial on this ASAP!!!! 😍😍😍😍
Sis why didn't you go to the dermatologist? I'm old school and just because its out there doesnt mean it is meant to try . I heard so many stories with the MOM, Apple cider vinegar, the "Cooking" coconut oil( instead of getting the oil that is "For" the hair) sisters are using to put on their hair scalp ,etc. There is "NO" quick remedies when it comes to beauty, especially acne, oily/dry skin, hair etc. There are "Always" consequences for what we do to ourselves( and others) whether good or bad and we will " Reap" one of them. I hope the sisters come across your video, and learn from your mistakes which we "All" make. #Wisdomistheprinciplething
ablckdiamd1 you shouldn't use the coconut oil that's on the hair section. Unlike the other coconut oil that's virgin it has additives that can cause more dryness and breakage. Virgin coconut oil is better for your hair (depending on how protein sensitive your hair is) because hair is similar to skin. And the sebum our skin/scalp produce are similar to coconut oil. Coconut oil and jojoba oil are the few oils that our hair/skin can actually absorb instead of it sitting on your hair.
ablckdiamd1 the ONLY difference for coconut oil for "cooking" versus for hair is they get to charge more for less when labeled for hair. All you want is organic coconut oil in the ingredients nothing else. Just one ingredient.
ablckdiamd1 ok but those coconut oils you can find in the cooking ARE fine for beauty uses so as long as the only thing in the ingredients list says pure organic coconut oil, extra virgin is a plus. And a lot of the containers of coconut oil found in the cooking aisle state that it's safe to use on skin and hair. Who tf is gonna pay $40 for something like kopari coconut oil when the only thing in the ingredients is the same exact thing as what's found in the $7 big tub of it from target or whole foods or something
Sam S I'm trying to learn them. Lol yes, learn them that "beauty product" vs "cooking" is throwing $$$ away. Just like you said check the ingredient list for organic, one ingredient oil
This is the first video I see of you and girl... you’re make up is AMAZING!!!! And you are BEAUTIFUL!!!! Those colours are popping on your skin tone!! 😍😍😍😍
LaShondra Robinson there’s a full breakdown of all the products I used to achieve this look. It can be found in the description box of my fall plum purp makeup tutorial video.
I will say this you helped me! My mom was a model in her day and they use to put it all over her face and I have extremely oily skin and she was suggesting that but I was never sure. Now you helped me before hand. Thank you so much for this video! Love you girl keep that grind 💛
