You have to pay attention and always look out for potholes on the dragon… this is what I get for watching ppl ride and not paying attention to what I’m doing…..
It takes a level of character & humility to post a video like this. Anybody who's been watching this channel for a while knows you know that road. It goes to show it only takes a momentary lapse in focus to end up in the ditch, or worse,... off the edge. Really glad you're ok, brother.
Yes, you are right. I came for one of those typical straight ahead into the ditch videos because the rider has no clue. This incident was different, though. The road surface prior to the incident was obviously very rough, as the bike was sort of lifted when braking into the corner. This unsettled both chassis physically and rider mentally. He nearly got away and tried his best. Luckily there seem to be no injuries to the rider and i guess very little to the bike, as it looks to be a nice soft landing place.
That’s what I get for watching ppl ride instead of passing attention to what curves I’m on. One ridden the dragon so much, I’d like muscle memory to me, I don’t even think about the ride half the time, I just flow. I’m working on not watching riders beast, I’m paying attention to my lines now!
You have my respect for showing this video. A few observations. 1. It takes a humble person to show his own mistakes. 2. Good thing it was a ditch not a cliff. 3. I’m glad you’re ok.
I had a similar ditching at the Dragon on my RR when I encountered a truck across the line rounding a (blind) right at hard lean. It caused me to change my line rightwards suddenly and almost navigated the edge of the immediate left, but I ended up in the ditch leaves. No damage to me or the bike, but it was embarrassing. I could have made without the freakout arm tension from barely missing the truck in my lane and likely some target fixation. That's why we practice. BTW, landscape video works way better than portrait.
You’re lucky it happened where it did!! I live 20 mins from there and am up there all the time. I’ve seen dozens of people get hurt and a few die in all the years I’ve been going up there. Stay safe!!
I’ve been riding the dragon for over 20 years, I’ve seen ppl die, ppl get hurt, and I’ve had a couple close call. That why I told myself not to watch ppl ride, I need to stay focused on what curve I’m on and what I’m doing… i definitely try to stay safe out there. Even though I speed and go fast, I keep it very respectful out there.. thank you for your comment!👍🏽
You are a skilled rider. I am glad your skills allowed you to partially recover and avoid a more serious crash. Others have not been so lucky. The cautionary tale to take away is to remember the dragon is a public road, filled with unpredictable hazards: Cars Trucks Pedestrians Bicycles Animals Accident scenes Police Have fun on your street rides, but stay well within your skill limits on the street for your own safety. Save the high performance riding for track days. You have a lifetime of good riding still in front of you. Live long, prosper, and enjoy the ride.
I’m no youngster my friend, I have been blessed though, and I do go to the track… the dragon is a whole another kind of animal.. you have to google it.. I’ve been riding this road for 20 years and I hope the lord blessed me so I live to ride it for another 40+ years…. Yes the dragon is very dangerous and I’ve seen a lot out here… I know the risks very well… but I really appreciate the positive comment and being a troll!!! Thank you for watching!!!!🤘🏽👍🏽👍🏽
@@Antprilia. the dragon is on my bucket list. Locally, we have the Eagles Nest and Storm King Mountain, near West Point, here in NY. Similar riding conditions, but only a few miles. Great fun to ride, but it demands all of the rider's attention and respect. Thanks for sharing your video. Ride safe.
You landed in a pile of chicken feathers, LOL Lucky you, i live in pain 24/7 from a bike crash i had 8 years ago. But it taught me nothing i was at 138mph between Blue Ridge and Elijay about 2 hours ago. Cheers
Believe me my friend, I’ve been F’ed up real bad in my years, I have soo many bad ones under my belt. Quite a few from being hit by vehicles …. I’ve been very blessed
I am glad you are okay. Wearing the proper gear adsorbed the contact with the ground. Awesome spin off the bike. Did the bike even get scratched? It looks like you went into a pillow of leaves? Stay safe.
Solid recovery and keeping it straight up as long as possible to scrub speed. +Ex points for stylish dismount +Ex points for fancy parking job. I was waiting for those leaves to catch fire under the bike...My RC 51 would have been a fireball in those leaves. imagine the disappointment you'd feel after you Ninja your way out of a serious wreck like that, only to have the dry leaves & bike burst into flames when you turn your back on em. Time 2 call that Gecko prick from Australia $!
What you said!!!! I was checking the leaves and looking where my exhaust was at. A bike caught a lot of the mountain on fire, I have a video dragon on fire!!! Omg… luckily the leaves were a lil damp!!!! 🙏🏽🤘🏽
Peccato per l'accaduto, l'importante è che non ti sia fatto male. Comunque hai una bella guida, liscia e non invadi mai l'altra corsia. Saluti da Bubi di Adria
I’m getting a lot of hate for my crossing the double yellows, but thank your for watching my video, deffrom waaay over there in Bubi of Adria!!!👍🏽👍🏽🤘🏽😃
Yh but the dude spent most of the time repeating that he hit a pot hole. Instead of trying to sort his own bike out. Like his friends work for him. One friend even said about 🍃 being in the belly pan that may pose a fire risk, yet he didn't acknowledge this and continued to talk about how he went down.
Youre such a troll and you clearly don’t have a clue… the leaves were very damp, wasn’t anything catching on fire cornball!!! I couldn’t pull my bike out by myself, so yes I waited for other ppl to get there… duhhh….
It’s my fault for getting so comfortable watching riders in from my of me, I wasn’t thinking or paying attention at all to the road… I know every curve pothole and crack out there, but I learned a valuable lesson not to pay attention to the riders as much as I did, focus on the road!!! But I really appreciate your positive comment and being a troll, much respect!!!🤘🏽👍🏽
Firstly glad your ok. I know when you crash its the bike that you care about I have had many crashes.. looks like a small one. Just wanted to say I hope it gets sorted and love your videos.. you amd wristy need some sound effect videos like wristy mortal combat ones. Safe riding 🇺🇸 🇬🇧
I can’t be like max, I have to find my own way in this internet content creator stuff.. but I’m working on improving mg vids!!! Thank you for watching!!!!
Shake it off man. You did good. Motorcycles ain’t for everybody, because they will dump you and humiliate you when you least expect it, even after you have been riding for thirty years. That’s why we wear gear, and why we respect the guys who keep on riding.
Picture this one that happened just last Sunday... Chatsworth Hwy from my house in Ellijay to Fort Mountain lookout. Just put new Rosso III's on the Fireblade the night before, so I'm being nice to em. I had my son finish putting the front wheel back on because I cut my hand on something. Didn't do a pre ride check before I left the house Sunday. I get to the lookout to turn around and have NO FRONT BRAKES BECAUSE BOTH CALIPERS FELL OFF RIGHT THERE!!! 💩
