Can anyone explain the ESP route to getting battery level information. This is the only automation I would actually like to implement - a reminder to charge the toothbrush!
And here I am still waiting for the smart toilet seat that measures how much I dump and based on dump size, plays the "we are the champions" song on all household speakers :D
For the charging puck: I cheaply picked up a philipps charging glass from their wireless toothbrush on eBay. Works fine and is much more stable and easier to handle
I have an older compatible Oral B brush and i did an automation with esphome before home assistant released their integration. I have this lamp with 4 spotlights in the bathroom and i let them light up in different colours for every quarter of time beeing past while brushing, kinda like a traffic light. For the colours i chose some that kinda resemble the one used in racing or mario kart but it got boring really fast. I have seen on twitter someone use it to disable their alarm in the morning.
Those toothbrushes are really meant to be shared, the cleaning heads come with different symbols so the family doesn mix them up. You can of course get a toothbrush for everyone to have individual automations, but yeah, that will get expensive.
Hi Mark. I'm just having a look around the home assist eco system as a newbie but a few concerns I have are... power and Wi-Fi. What solutions are the for independent Wi-Fi should main system fail (a standalone hotspot device)? Also, small battery backups should the power be cut. Is there a solution to these questions that are not expensive... Thanks, Malc.
Was really interested in this, as I have a Oral B toothbrush from 5 years ago that is bluetooth and connects to HA. I am newbie and just installed HA, and I was hoping you may do a walk through of setting up an automation of at least the brush comes on and Google speaker plays say Smooth FM for 2 mins 😞 or something similar. Let allow all of the data aggregation that maybe available and how you track that, like times brushed in the week total time etc. I think the sectors are based on time and your own need to move to the next sector I am assuming there is no way of knowing where the brush in your mouth in relation to the quadrant of your teeth
Great Video! Very Original content, as usual! I have similar brush but It can only pull out the info when the toothbrush is not "idle" . Is this right? Also, I have another issue, that I can only use "time value" for automations. Am I doing something wrong?
i thougt that neighbors brus show up, but then I relises avary time we brush, HAS detect as is should but also found a new one every time. Looks like the brush sesnding a status or somthing who dectect as a new brush. :-)
Do you reckon I could use the Bluetooth sensor to detect this? My one will connect to BT but only when I open the app on my phone.. and I rarely (if ever) do that. The nighttime routines etc are pretty good use cases.
@@MarkWattTech I thought it might be nice to have Alexa do something when I clean my teeth! I can do other bits with Home Assistant of course, but as the skill is not available, I'm not sure how.
I am waiting for the pill, which when you take, you don't need to brush, wash, eat, sleep - then I will integrate it into my HA not to forget to take it once a day ;-)
