I have broken a thick concrete slab using the Hilti Nuron TE2000-22 cordless breaker, following power issues with my 110v breaker causing the circuits to trip I got my hands on the Hilti Nuron TE2000-22 cordless breaker to do the job, The power is amazing and for me felt no different from a mains powered unit however the lack of a cable around my feet was really nice!!! The concrete had so much rubbish in it and it was far thicker in places than I had anticipated, I am just relieved I had a big enough breaker to complete the task

So, for a slab of that size my first choice of weapon might have been “Feathers and Irons” if there was no reinforcing. I have found this to be the fasted and least work for that size of slab. It also leaves you with dimensioned blocks instead of wheelbarrows full of rubble. My set of feathers and irons require a 1” hole (drilled with a Hilti - fastest masonry drill). Any chipping I do is with a Makita HM1213 - light weight and effective! My second choice would have been battery cut off saw with a sledge- I hate rubble - I like neat blocks. Either method would have been faster and less work. The former owner of my home liked to use truck leaf springs, front axles, rusted boat anchors and bandsaw blades from the sawmill for reinforcing.

I have seen on RU-vid a guy down under using a chemical splitter on granite boulders, I wonder if it would work on concrete, and it is available in the UK?

That mish mash construction was something. At least you didn’t turn up any previous contractors. Construction equipment that calls in its own service requests! Technology strikes! And who would have guessed Beethoven is a perfect accompaniment for breaking concrete? (Of course, Lichtenstein is German speaking .)

Robin, after this hard job, imagine old times, when hadn't these kind of tools. Easiest way probably that times would be with crane lift all piece in 1 go, just dig under for straps😅

Great bit of kit, the cheaper end of the market in breakers are awful to use in terms of Anti vibration and shock. As a landscaper I always hire them and I only use Hilti as they really are the best out there. Really enjoying the varied content on your channel Robin! Hi Andrew, many thanks for your comment and also taking the time to watch my channel. Hilti for me also has always been that brand that I would look for when hiring this kind of tool, I am super fortunate to be able to have access to try their new technology and for that I am very grateful!! It is the comfort and power that we have grown to expect with the Hilti Breakers that have set them apart from others, it is simply the case that once you have used a Hilti breaker and compared it to another type you realise the difference and know that it really matters several hours of breaking concrete is no joke and when you finish the day and can function normally you realise that the tool is good!!!!!!!!!!! have a good weekend!

Best one I did in the early 80's was a bloke has some old metal framed bed's with all the springs in them, put 2 double beds in a garage base, good luck getting those out!! all the ol materials used to go in those shed/garage bases 😁

Nice!! Imagine trying to break that out!! You are right though about any old stuff being cast in concrete rumour has it that some of our most notorious criminals used concrete to dispose of stuff!!!!!!!

I think the last bit of your video sums it up. Hilti make great product - their drills will bore through concrete fast, their anchor systems work! I have a few Hilti drills that just keep going. It is a a well engineered and predicable system with solid support for the daily user! Not the least expensive product line but probable the most comprehensive one stop shop for constructors and engineers who need production to keep going. DeWalt, Makita, Milwaukee and others make masonry drills and breakers but You seldom see those brands tested against Hilti on RU-vid and there is a reason. Hilti is just in its own league.

There is another angle to consider too - if you are a small contractor or working alone you cannot afford waste a minute today - for me time is precious so I am only interested in what works and is well supported!

I guess these metals in concrete was been used as control joint for leveling, concrete mix looks strong one M500 cement with 1/2.5/4 mix ratio. and full bags of cement used for quicker filling with less mixing. Investigation done😂 Tool , breaker monster👍

That’s a lot of work well done. Obviously the guy who laid the slab had rubbish he wanted to hide or use as filler instead of paying for disposal off site

And a quick side note: the pad was stable, level, and no cracking. So sure, on demo finding lots of dirty laundry. And it took quite a bit of breaking to get out so...

Some things are great cordless, some things not so. This is like a cordless chainsaw, you need to piss about with batteries and charging when all you actually want to do is just get the job done in one sitting. For me there is a cut off with how much you need to use the tool for. If it's more than 10 minutes at a time, go for mains powered.

Robin, they weren’t building the Taj Mahal!, chances are the builder asked the labourer to knock up a base for the oil tank, which served it purpose uncracked until you wanted it up. I think your brilliant mate but I’m watching the hilti I’m not interested in slagging off the work of someone else
