Awesome to see someone else leaving the tech world for game dev! I’ve been in the tech industry for about 10 years, and now I’m working full-time while also developing my own game. It’s a challenging but rewarding journey. Best of luck to everyone on this path!

Honestly this is such a great video, I usually don't comment on vidoes but wow man, your message is crystal clear. I am 19 and I am going to graduate in 2 years (I am a Computer Engineering major), I currently intern at a Microsoft partner and I am learning how to develop advanced .NET apps and such but this isn't why I am commenting. I don't know what I want to do with my career and this video just shows me that you adapt with time. I have been very stressed lately about thinking about the future and how I want to work in AI one day and I am so far away from that goal but wow this video shows me I still have a ton of time to work on my dreams and it shows me that even in a few years, career shifts aren't crazy so thank you for that truly! I teared up a bit watching the end of the video I don't know why lol, but I'll try my hardest to have such a great mindset!

Happy to see you thrive! Even though i didnt do tech, i quit my dream company last year where i was a cog too and pivoted into an entirely different career. I will say im much happier but for sure miss the cushy benefits! I wish the same happiness for you in your journey!

I appreciate the compliment, but never too late to change (if you even need to)!

Yeesh, just shows you how ridiculous the pay is to work 2 years and essentially retire lol

Good luke man, If it doesn't make you fulfilled, regardless of the company or the opportunity, there comes a time when the bird has to fly to other branches.

Holy cow, 8 minutes into the video, and when you said your age I was blown away, realizing what you have accomplished while being the same age as me

How did you even get a technical program manager position at Microsoft as your first job straight out of college without experience? That seems impossible.

I was originally a software engineer that was reporting to a program manager. So eventually that helped me transition to more of the TPM role

“A very well compensated and treated cog at that” Why yes thanks for noticing that I am such a pampered cog ⚙️ 🙂‍↔️ Can definitely agree with many of your points on big tech, and how it really depends on your current needs (i.e. stability) and how some things are just constants working in big tech. Great video as always and excited for what the future holds! Best of luck and cheers 🎉

Sucks that you weren't allowed to bloom with big-tech. I can see you making a bigger impact with a different company.

Definitely depends on the person, but I think I'll like a smaller environment more!

@@ByteOfMichael and why not? Never stop exploring your options. Not everyone gets to.

Big Tech is not a place where you can "bloom", Its made for you to be a cog in the machine.

@vectoralphaSec why? Not disagreeing. Just challenging you to explore your statement. Different flowers bloom under different conditions.
