I am 22 years young
-What type of program were you in & how long was it?
I graduated from an ADN (Associate in Nursing) program at my State College & the program was a total of 2 years. However, it did take 2 years to complete undergrad work to get into the program so in total 4 years. I am currently taking my BSN (Bachelor) classes at the same State College. I plan to continue on my nursing journey until I reach my Doctorate degree!

Great idea! I think you’ll enjoy it. My fam is full of nurses (except me, I dropped out because… no lol). Brother is a doctor, my sister is getting her masters in nursing admin, and my other sister travel nurses. Let me tell you, she was getting PAID. Especially during Covid times. Right now she’s in California, saving up for a home and studying for CRNA school. Wishing you the best!!

I’m not in nursing, but the theme of abuse from customers seems to be the common thread among a lot of customer facing positions. I switched roles a year ago to reduce the amount of contact I have with customers due to verbal abuse that was taking a toll on my mental health. I’m glad you learned this early in your career and have a plan! I always recommend to travel while you’re young.

I’m still strongly considering a nursing program, and I want to combine it with my esthetician license once I have that. The amount of $28 is crazy. I am in PA and they start at $40+ at the hospitals surrounding me. The cost of living isn’t bad around here. I’m glad you made the choice you did🤍

You can do so much with your degree. I saw a lady on a podcast that was a nurse she said she made $30,000 a month. I don't know how but y'all definitely deserve more than $30/an hour. I was making $24/hour as a bus driver. Traveling nurse could be more and there's things you can do outside traditional nursing. If I could get my 20's back, there's no telling what I would be doing right now.

i traveled for a couple of years to pay for school and even took my kids with me on a summer assignment in new mexico. i agree, that is the perfect time to explore and see what else is out there- not only in the community, but also different organizations do things differently. get that valuable experience!

Yup! My bf is an ER nurse…he loves it but I have worked MANY jobs and I know its 100% not worth it lol. You cannot have your head spinning for these jobs it does not pay to do so you have to put yourself first ! I’m praying to God I pass my nclex the first time…taking it soon and very nervous! And I’m excited to start my career because I did nursing for ME and I will be moving as such! God bless!

I totally understand where you are coming from. Freedom and flexibility are very important to me as well and that is why I left Corporate America after several years because it didn't fit my lifestyle anymore. Girl get it! The work we do and the things we deal with 31$ is not enough. I have been a nurse for more than 5 years and at the old hospital I worked made more than nursers who have been working. That is horrible. Now I am working as a local travel making more than double and now I feel better.I don’t see myself going back to staff nursing any time soon. I will be off for February and traveling around Europe with my hubby. I can’t go back to asking for PTO anytime i will be leaving bedside but I want to do traveling to get my financial in order and some goals done.

I've been a nurse for 15 years and I'm also thinking of quitting. I definitely don't feel appreciated by the hospital management, or with the financial compensation. We don't even get pizza parties! Nursing isn't worth it anymore. we worked though a pandemic and aren't appreciated. I'm contemplating travel nursing
