I get that immersing yourself in what has been your life is emotionally draining, or has a higher emotional component than for someone who didn't go through it. I was a special ed student and now I'm a special education teacher. When I work with students who have the same struggles I've dealt with, I feel it kind of strongly. But at the same time, I have a lot of value in what I do, because I get what my students are going through.

I'm watching this in November 2020...telehealth, and hundreds of jobs, went viral this year, as you know. I was thinking Maggie had the transition to full time online before it was the cool thing to do. I'm also glad you were able to stay safer while still sharing your skills, knowledge and sunshine. 🌞😁

I had a colleague that has crohns disease and she keeps having to have surgery, so to understand her struggle a little more I decided to watch videos on the subject and read up on it. I found your channel, I watched your video explaining about your problems and since then I've been watching your videos as they pop up :) Thank you for educating me. I really feel like I can understand how my colleague is feeling/has felt and I can talk with her about things in a more reasonable approach. You're an inspirational lady and you are so very strong considering everything you've been through so far. Well done to you and I wish you all the best for the future. I hope your wedding venue takes off loads! :D Much love to you x Keep up the hard work x Charlotte x

How has your decision been going? I don’t have crohns or colitis, but I have many other medical issues (many bowel resections, failed right kidney transplant, many gynaecological surgeries etc). I had to leave my career for years. I’m now working for myself (I’m a hairstylist) and do quite a bit less. But not working was so hard. I’m having a bad week right now and haven’t left my bed in 4 days. I hope you find peace with your decision and have the support and love of your friends and family!

You have to take care of yourself. You have to do what is best for your life. I went on disability in 2001 and it was the best decision I ever made. I probably would have died I was so sick. I was down to 75 lbs and I’m 5’6”. I stopped eating I was suffering from severe depression, I had severe chronic pain from my surgeries of UC. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to go back to work. I’m just to messed up. So live your best life, it’s the only one you got.

I too am a hospital worker (lab scientist) that runs like a chicken for 12+ hours. I had colorectal cancer and ostomy & other follow up surgeries. Has been hard keeping the fast pace. I'm excited to know there are other possibilities! I do agree with patient experience. Part of me wants to lead a colorectal support group or even ostomy support... can't find any in this giant city in which I live. Much love and appreciation to you Maggie. Ps: you’ve already mentioned where you worked long ago, lol. It’s a hard job. I started in the NICU, full time, 12hr shifts. I had to switch to a part time clinic job in research. I’m disabled and it takes so much more energy for me to function normally let alone. I started to have more pain, lost weight, super stressed, not happy... the job I changed to sort of fell in my lap! I loved it, I still got to be a peds nurse, worked in the clinic/office. I could sit more often, no more nights or weekends. Did I miss floor nursing? Absolutely! It’s what I fell in love with! Now I’m not working bc my health declined (sort of overnight it feels like). I miss working, can’t work at anything now sadly. Now I make and sell feeding tube clips (used to keep the tubing out of the way and safe from getting snagged).

I feel for you and the decision to quit your nursing job must have been hard. I have heart failure from the stress and had to quit nursing 3 years ago. I had to forgive myself because I knew I should be looking after people. It’s so hard for me but I’m glad you still have a nursing role you are a great educator. I purposefully deregistered myself to make sure I would not return to it. My role in nursing nearly killed me. People don’t realise how stressful it can be even when u love what you do. I’m happy now but it took a long time to forgive me. ☺️. Nothing is worth your health.

Full time work in office has DEFINITELY become more difficult for me since I’ve been diagnosed. My employer continues to insist that we be in office even though the job I do could TOTALLY be done remotely. Remote work has come to the forefront again with more ppl fully realizing it’s potential and advantages. My employer also has failed to reward me financially for my full time service over the course of 10 years. Time for a new job! I think the newer generation will be more diverse in their money making efforts and less in one basket since employers these days seem (to me) to be offering less. Glad you’ve found what works for you!

I have EDS and it didn’t start having big changes in my health until 2020. My body is definitely different then when I was 18 when I would have started my education journey if that was my path. I feel like it was for a reason. I can imagine how hard it must be to find something I love and then no longer be able to do it because of health changes. I would love to be able to message you. I am a nurse in Canada and also have bowel and rectal issues. I also can no longer work as a nurse due to my health issues. You are very positive and a great role model

I don't hear many people talking about the fact that with an illeostomy you still need to run to the restroom. I haven't figured out any kind of rhyme or reason for when I seem to have a "flare-up" of trouble. I could be fine for weeks with just minimal mucus then out of nowhere I feel crampy and need to be near a restroom for a couple or few days bc I have urges to go and sometimes experience boughts of diarrhea. I'm not chronically ill. I have mine bc of complications from birthing my son. Thinking I may need to consider meds for depression bc it's been effecting my mental health.

I couldn't quite understand if the name of the company is " Loving Health " or something else. Could you please let me know the correct name. I had my large intestine removed and an illeostomy placed in April, 2019 and internal GJ Tubes in June, 2019. Still having major issues and no where to turn.

I have little gray white areas around the base of my stoma on the red part. Do I need to go back the doctor to have it looked at?
