Thanks, yeah. Couldn't articulate exactly how Shattered Dimensions/Edge of Time's combat felt at first, but GoW-like is spot on.

If you want a fun Atari 2600 game, I recommend Seaquest. I played that for hours as a kid, before we got a Nintendo. I agree with the ones you mentioned above, especially Jungle Hunt.

I understand, but at the end of the day, there's not much to Ultimate Spider-Man, other than it looking good, and playing as Venom is fun. No interesting side-quests/activities, a tiny bit of city to explore, and no real reason to replay it. If I hadn't played it again to completion just a few years ago, I would have put it higher.

@@flophouseplays I guess that's fair. I'd rather play Ultimate over Spidey 2 since it refined the web swinging even more, was full of fun fanservice n crazy boss fights and of course playing as Venom. I guess I just don't like that it got put in the tier that was like right above mediocre, which I perceive as more a bad tier rather than an OK tier.

The last time I tried was 4 years ago with a laptop, so I might give it another go!

Honestly doing Spider-matt dirty, having him show up in the suit and everything and not saying it's his video, shameful. I think he should go make his own channel cause clearly Matt doesn't appreciate him.

You probably should give it a go. I actually enjoyed it when I beat it for the first time a few years ago, but I always gave the game a hard time when it first came out. All your hesitations about it are correct in that it sucks to go down to 2 from 4. But Beenox didn't have a choice, Activision mandated another Spider-Man game, and Beenox had to deliver that in only ONE YEAR. It's incredible what they were able to achieve with that restriction. Combat wise, it plays really closely to Shattered Dimension, and overall, the story and some boss fights are quite good. I also GREATLY prefer Christopher Daniel Barnes playing Miguel O'Hara as he's way, WAY more appropriate for the role than the 80s Spider-Man voice actor who I felt, was massively miscast in Shattered Dimensions.

How are they different? Alright, let's go. I owned the SNES version growing up and am very familiar with that version. When I saw the Genesis version played on youtube years later, I was surprised how different they were. The SNES version has the levels go: Lab, Construction Zone, Bridge, Coney Island, JJ's Penthouse, Ravencroft. In the Genesis version it went: Lab, Coney Island, Construction Zone, a street level, Ravencroft. Bosses are different too. Smythe is the boss of JJ's Penthouse in the SNES version, but the boss of the Construction Zone in Genesis, while the Alien Spider Slayer is a mini-boss in the Construction Zone on SNES but the boss of the street level on Genesis. But the biggest thing is the level layout of every stage is different. Even though both games start with a lab level, the level layout is completely unique to each version, sharing almost nothing in common with regards to platform and enemy placement and the like. The soundtracks are often completely different too. While some times they're more or less identical, the Funhouse level for instance, the Lab level has a completely different song for each version. Now, between the two, I find I prefer the SNES version, but that's an opinion, and I did grow up with it, so I might be biased, but the two versions have a laundry list of differences. Not saying they necessarily should be ranked separately, but they do have more differences than is usual for a game released simultaneously on both consoles.
