My designs are half canon, but I make there perspective as realistic and canon as possible. If I don’t find their perspective psychologically accurate to a real person, then I’d change it a bit to make it more relatable.

tbh the original designs for swap sans and dream sans and ink sans aren't bad I especially love the canon design of swap sans because it fills me with energy but the fanon one is the one that ruined that shit.
