Having recently returned from Napoli, I was compelled to reread The Neapolitan Novels having previously read each as the English translations came out. This time, I completely immersed myself by reading them as one 1,680 page novel. Extraordinary! I’m currently following up by watching the series.

It’s so cool that you have chosen to sort of dissect Ferrante.. in my 2022 faves, my brilliant friend was #2.. and one thing I noted was that it changed my life. I spoke about her characters transcending race and how there is a sisterhood among women and the experiences we have and go through. Ferrante does an amazing job of portraying the internal struggles and mindset shifts from adolescence to adulthood.

This was so lovely to watch. I’ve only read the quartet plus lost daughter and days of abandonment and all of them have blown me away. The Brilliant Friend HBO series has also been a recent love. Inspired by you to read the rest of her canon ❤❤❤

Aww yay! That means a lot Katie. I wish I had read that article slowly so I hope you enjoy that process. If you're making me choose I think I loved The Story of a New Name the most because of their time on Ischia, closely followed by The Story of the Lost Child.
