I love this book so much. It's my new favorite standalone by Sanderson, which is extremely surprising because I'm not a big romance and anime guy. But I loved it. And can't forget to mention how breathtaking the art is! Easily the best of the secret projects.

Completely agree! I found the same thing. It has a lot of elements that I don’t normally care for but loved them with this

I’ve read the first three of the secret projects, and secret project #3 was my favorite, then #1, then #2. I loved them all, though!

My favorite Cosmere standalone now! WoK is still my favorite Cosmere book, this is now my 2nd favorite. Crazy. I didn't expect that at all.

This book has been my favourite read of the year so far, even though I'm not really a fan of either anime or korean drama. I'm starting to think maybe I should get into those as well after enjoying this so much. I read both this and Tress with minimal knowledge of the Cosmere (having read only The Final Empire beforehand) and, while the references definitely went over my head, they're not bothersome. I know most of the things I didn't get will be explained somewhere else in his books and there will be fun things to pick up on on a reread. Honestly, all the easter eggs made me more excited to read Stormlight in the future.

OK. Tress didn't grab my attention. But this one, I may well give it a shot. Your enthusiasm is convincing! (Also, I'm about halfway through your book, and it's fantastic.)

It’s very different from Tress and well worth a try! Yesssss I’m glad you’re enjoying it!

I love this book so very much. This is my favourite secret project by far, even though I loved the other 2 as well. But I also love Anime and K-Drama, and reading Brandon's version of these was very very fun. And every art int his book was soooo good. Aliya Chen is my favourite illustrator now.

The anime style storytelling was great fun and very different for Sando! The art. Yes. It was stunning!

I read Tress and liked it a lot. I just started Frugal Wizard's Handbook because I realized SP 3 was dropping soon and I wanted to read it before 3 dropped. 😕 Can't wait to get to this one.

Just started my first sanderson book, mistborn. Is it ok to read yumi? Will it spoil anything?

You can but I think you would get more from Yumi if you read Stormlight first!

Read this after Stormlight Archive book 4 or it might not make sense. The story is being told to people who are clearly Rosharans.

Thought it was a fantastic book. It does spoil some stuff from Stormlight 2-4 though.

I wouldn’t say it spoils anything because it’s all out of context but I do think it’s worth reading Stormlight first

@@the_fools_tale I’d argue (SPOILERS FOR STORMLIGHT 2-4) 1) First, it spoils that Hoid bonds a spren. I’ve seen people say it’s not clear, it’s very very clear that Design is a spren and that Hoid bonded to her. This is a development in Oathbringer, so that’s a spoiler. 2) Design says she can turn into a sword. It is not revealed until the end of WoR that Shardblades are actually spren, which means that’s a spoiler. 3) Hoid said “remember when I got my memory stolen?” That is (I believe) a straight up reference to the end of Rhythm of War when Odium messed with Hoid’s mind. First, that’s a spoiler and reveals Hoid got his memory messed with before people are supposed to actually see that happen if they haven’t read RoW yet. Second, it was never actually confirmed whether Hoid was tricking Odium into believing he got his memory stolen, there was a theory that he actually tricked Odium into believing he actually got beat. Now Brandon basically confirmed it, and I’d say that’s a spoiler. These thing’s definitely aren’t big spoilers, and it would be a bit difficult to get the last one without actually reading RoW, but in my eyes they are spoilers and introduce plot and worldbuilding points that one should get by reading them in Stormlight.

Yeah I see the argument for it but I don’t see anyone making these connections. I’m not convinced readers who have only read Way of Kings will pick up on point 1&2. Especially when point one isn’t stated. And the third point is one sentence that could reference anything, given who said it. It’s too obscure and specific to spoil anything in my opinion

@@the_fools_tale I see what you are saying, but personally I would rather just read Stormlight and get the reveals like they are supposed to be revealed rather than take a chance of getting them in a offhand comment in SP3, but that’s just me.

I do agree that reading Stormlight first is the better choice though
