It makes me uneasy how people refer to her life of severe child abuse as "iconic", "unhinged", and "wild". She is making it funny to cope, but i think a lot of people arent grasping the pure trauma of it all.

I was watching this and read your comment, stopped the video, downloaded the audio book, listened to the entirety of it, and have come to say I whole heartedly agree. I do agree that it’s incredibly inspiring and purely amazing how she has come up and out the way she has with everything she has been through. But I would not call most of the things written down in her book iconic since she was literally a child when most of this was taking place? and I didn’t find it funny for the most part but that may be just because I found the book just so raw and relentlessly sad. I literally hope so bad the rest of her life is a breeze bc damn

I always find it hard to read, despite my desire to (hard to stay focused, get too tired trying to keep track of where I am in the book etc) but my professor at uni, who had written a few books of her own but also finds it hard to read, said that she highlights texts as she reads. It felt wrong to do, but I have 1 life and I really want to read. I grabbed my highlighters, and started reading the first book of The Witcher. On day 1, I finished 29 pages. On day 2 i finished on page 58. I have completed 18% already!

I’ve always been pretty neutral about her, the whole Kanye thing I just hoped she was safe and not forced to do anything she wasn’t okay with. I then saw her guest judge on Project Runway and from the brief little insight into her there I really liked her. She seemed like she was just someone who was able to live out her eccentric dreams. Is she attention grabbing, definitely, but I didn’t get any negative or inauthentic vibes off her like a lot of people trying to be internet influencers as a comparison. She seems like a person with a plan who’s having fun executing it, people have a tendency to look negatively upon those who seek fame in seemingly odd ways but to me she doesn’t seem like she’s hurting anyone and at least now, post Kanye, she seems comfortable with the attention she’s pulling and in control of it. Just kind of wanted to put my current perceptions of her down before watching this, I’m excited for a little more insight into her.
