I'm actually pretty thankful that Lauren shows that she too started out like any other person. It's comforting in a way. I have a journal myself, and it's going to be so sad to read it when I am older. Nearly every page so far (I don't write often so not that many pages) I vent about my bad luck with who I happened to get a crush on and how she doesn't like me back 😅 It's just thoughts fresh from my mind, often during intense emotions, so it does not always sound very sane.

When I was 12 I met a girl 2 years older than me. We became close friends and she changed schools but still came to my sports events. When she came to my games I would always think “ one day I will be apart of her wedding “ 2 years later I was 14 sitting in the pews of a Curch staring at the pink flowers on her casket. 30 minutes latter I watched them seal her tomb. In solidarity with Lauren: I’m 31 and had boy-crazy phases lol. I specifically remember having a HUGE crush on our 2nd(?) 3rd(?) neighbor teacher, as well as Lance Bass. Watching this made me think: did I miss something? My childhood love life was non-existent, but I did write a bunch of stuff in a journal. And reading it made me feel, rather than being embarrassed, "Did I write this? I actually felt that way?" as well as, "She really tried her best to write out her feelings even with the simplest, childish words." It made me smile and cry bcs I remember promising myself I wouldn't hate my past self if I'd ever changed in the future. I think I kept my promise well 😊

I wrote a lot about the people I hated. I wrote about my depression later on but when a teacher found it she reported it to cps or smth and my mom got in trouble (my mom knew about it already though because I told a “friend” about a year before the diary thing and she told her father and he told my mom. My mom started looking to get me a psychologist after the father thing and I got one a few months after the teacher thing)

Wow, Lauren. My journal is so much worse. I'm asexual so I didn't write about boys, I mostly wrote about how much I hated my parents. I had a really bad mom, so I understand that, but I come off like a sociopath in it. I also wrote about how I didn't have any friends. I'm literally still friends with one of the people I wrote about, so I don't know why I was so obsessed with the idea that I was a misunderstood loner whose friends would never understand her. It was so bad. I wish I'd just written about boys!
