reading all 8 books of (one of ) the internet's most popular/famous/beloved book series: throne of glass. 4,793 pages later...was it worth the hype? ⭐️instagram: / haleypham ⭐️merch: haleypham.com/ ⭐️brand inquiries: haley@night.co
I’m so glad you finished the series! Never cried as much throughout a series as I did with throne of glass 😢You should definitely give Red Queen another try!!
its honestly so insane how through the years I've watched your vocabulary expand after you started reading. been part of the phamily since I was in middle school and I'm a freshman in college now. LITERALLY INSANE
I loved tandem reading the Empire of Storms and Tower of Dawn, it was such a cool experience. And I read The Assassin's Blade before Queen of Shadows bcoz we meet the characters in TAB from QoS onwards, so it's kinda easy to read on when TAB stories and characters are still fresh in ur mind. It's overall one of the best series for me💫🔥
Haley sparked my love for reading again. Very happy I'm back at it and is doing it regularly once more (like I did when I was young, in highschool and back in uni). 👌🏻🙏🏻✨
I did this too in September and I completely agree that it’s so so much better to read them all one right after another because there are so many characters and I feel like you’d lose the subtle connections between books if you didn’t read them together! I finished all 8 books in about 2 weeks and my favorite little (*mini-spoiler*) connection was nox from throne of glass being in kingdoms of ash I was just like AYYYYYYY because i had just read it! the series really feels homey like you’re reading about friends, I was so sad to finish :’) glad you loved it too!!
Never stop uploading bookish videos Haley ❤ love from India! Your videos makes my day. Also a request, I want a review or reading vlog on A Little Life! Do think about it 😘
I wish I could read it for the first time 🥺, I read it this summer in a month as well and it has become like a staple of my year really. With a saga that is THIS long and with a writer like Sarah J Maas you can't help but get hooked. Objectively I don't think she's the best or anything and the series has its faults but her strength is definitely character writing. You feel so connected to them and switching POVs is not as tiring bc you genuinely like everyone for different reasons. I think it will take me a long time to find another series that has me as connected to the characters as this one had me...
Enjoyed this vlog!!! On the topic of tandem reading, I know you’re a believer and love to read your Bible-You should try a chronological reading plan, that’ll be a whole new experience for you and it really links things together and helps you remember so much more. 🎉
Some of my fav series so far is the Shatter me series and the inheritance games series they were both amazing!! The inheritance series was a super super quick read for me and so was shatter me. Another one I would recommend is the dream land billionaire series it’s a romance. It is an open door romance though I can’t remember if you read spicy books but i personally loved the series. And lastly the twisted series by Ana Huang was also amazing too and again another open door romance.
this is my favourite series of all time! i don tike sjm particularly, but Aelin is my ride or die, and i haven cried with any other books, but kingdom of ash broke me. she really needs to write more books with aelin!
kingdom of ash was a ride! i finished it in two days it was literally torturous to have to go back to school the next day after i finished it i just wanted to sit and cry for weeks
I finished my first read of this series in December and LOVED IT. I love that you covered the reading order a little, I read The Assassin's Blade first and felt like it was super impactful that way! I also really loved the tandem read even though it felt like such a massive undertaking haha. I felt like it made me appreciate Tower of Dawn so much more.
Literally assassin’s blade is one of my favorite books of all time!! I read it right after throne of glass, and I think it’s the only reason I continued with the series even though I love throne of glass so much!! I literally love this series and I’m so happy to see more content on it!!
I wonder how you would feel about Robin Hobb's books. The Farseer trilogy starts out the series in her 16 book world. I'm only on the second book but I do love it, even if they take a long time to read. The way she builds her story is so good. I've heard the second and the last series in her Elderling Saga are the best. I'm so excited to keep reading and I hope you'll pick it up one day too. Many RU-vidrs claim that she has some of the best character work in fantasy and it is very much classic fantasy which I really enjoy.
Love TOG with all my heart🫶🏼 also TOD is hated on way too much- probably because of it’s placement right after EOS and the crazy cliffhanger but it’s SO good. Also highly believe in NOT doing the tandem read
I stopped reading the series after Queen of Shadows was published in 2015 and I never got around to finishing it. Watching your video motivates me to go back and re-read all the books and finish the series!
I read this series years ago when I was like 14 or 15 and I LOVED IT. Don't want to ruin the fond memories so not going to be picking it up again. Sam > Rowan
ok what’s the consensus?? prequel first or third or fourth……. assassins blade actually came out before anything else as online novellas but what’s the best way 😭
I wish I had read Assassin's Blade first instead of third or fourth. You get to know Celaena better. When I read Throne of Glass, her attitude of being the best assassin was unbelievable, but after read Assassin's Blade, her attitude made more sense. I would have appreciated Throne of Glass more if I had read it second.
Love it! I read the assassins blade at the end, because thats when i found out it existed but actually it was really nice to do it that way and get to piece things together myself while reading the others before
I really want to start this start this series, but my school work keeps getting in my way 😢 (I lose motivation after…) Hopefully I can read this series in my winter break ❤
reading crown of midnight rn (def didnt finish throne of glass in 1 day) spoilers below BRO WHY ROWAN I HATE THAT GUY SO MUCH, I WAS ON TEAM CHAOL ☹️☹️ ROWAN JUST MAKES ME UNCOMFY SINCE THEY ARE DISTANT COUSINS 💀💀
the sigh of relief I breathed when you said you read assassin's blade 4th- reading it 3rd or 4th are the only ways, reading it first is like spoiling the plot before reading the book (in my opinion) also you just get to find out stuff about Celaena's past as you go, which I enjoy also I'm SO glad you liked Throne of Glass! it's my favourite book series ever, the characters, the world, the plot twists, I haven't stopped thinking about it since I finished the series 3 years ago.
the number of times I've read these books... I totally get what you mean - it's like I don't even like the first two books anymore before all my favorite characters come in, even though I know I absolutely loooved them back when I read them for the first time, but the books just get better and better! I come back to this series about once a year and just read them back to back and then I'm totally devastated when I'm done with them lol
I totally relate with your about the last book, but in my opinion, Queen of Shadows is just one step above Tower of Dawn, I did not like the book, I couldn't feel what everyone was talking about it. My favorite favorite of them is Heir of Fire, not because of the romance, but about the grief and loss that Aelin was experiencing and how people can be bad about it (Rowan's behavior with Celaena) and how her powers grow toward the story. I know everyone has a different point of view about the series, but I totally agree with you that the series is a huge five stars series and I can't wait to start read others books form Sarah J Maas.
Not me not finishing both yours and Sara’s videos because I don’t want any spoilers for KOA. I started a few days ago and have managed to avoid spoilers up to this point. I don’t even want to see reactions. I’ll have to come back to watch the rest of the video once I finish the book.
You should def do a GoodReads tour if you use it! ❤🎉 Edit: A great video idea for next year would to be to film you reading a book and give your review on it, and post one each day leading up to Christmas for bookmas! ❤🎉
I read all the way up to Empire of Storms when I was thirteen, and had to wait for Tower of Dawn and Kingdom of Ash to come out. I have to admit I did love the series so much when I first read it, and I immediately wanted to reread Throne of Glass and Crown of Midnight when I first read them and had to wait to borrow Heir of Fire at my school library, but once I read my favourite part of Throne of Glass I just couldn't really be bothered, and none of my Crown of Midnight reread actually registered in me. I'm happy to see you read the books, but when you say that you were sometimes reading without actually processing the words? That happens to all of us, and its not our fault. It's because what we're reading isn't grabbing our attention, and I believe a true good book, no matter where you are in the story, *never* loses your attention. And then there's the problem with you mentioning forgetting the names of characters. A lot of these characters have really unique names, and when I read the books, I remembered all of the names. Of course I only remember the big names now because I haven't read it in years, but having a hard time keeping track of the characters' names just means that there's too many characters. We end up not caring about many of them. I say this as someone who as a girl in secondary school, *loved* SJM. But after I read all of Crescent City in one week, that love never came back. These books are fond memories, but I feel like these books were genetically engineered to be absolutely shocking to young readers reading their first published smut. Give it some time. The enjoyment you feel from these books will be lost.
I JUST finished this series, and honestly I heard about the tandem read before going into the 6&7th books, but I didn't do it. I wish I would have, though. I just felt like I was waiting for more of the storyline from book 6, and while I know book 7 was important, I was just trying to get through it. Anyway, I LOVED this series so much!! Thanks for sharig your thoughts!!
Amazing honesty all that in one month 🤯🤯🤯 I keep seeing the series around and couldn't decide whether(?) to read jt or not Also, I wanna say that I saw Sarah, I think it was holding " The House in the Centurian Sea " which is an amazing book (I found anyways) for anyone who hasent read it is's very cozy
I'm reading AB fourth, the first three have all been 3 stars for me - I just don't know.. I'm not getting as attached to the characters with this one as I did with ACOTAR
Same exact reaction to the end of assassins blade 🥲 I stopped reading this series in the middle of heir of fire last year but this video got me so hyped to continue it!!
I don't know if you will see this comment, but I truly think you should read the Keeper of the Lost Cities Series. It is the best collection of books I have ever come across, like ever. These books have changed my life, and I feel they are super underrated.
