I felt the same way about a little life. I felt desensitised to the crazy stuff happening and didnt give a 💩 by the end. Theres a great vid called "euth anasia fanfiction" by owl criticism which goes deeper into it and it helped me put into words what i didnt like about it
oooh thanks so much for the video rec, I will def check it out! sometimes I find it harder to describe why I didn't like books compared to books I do, so many that will also help me articulate why I wasn't a fan!
Great to hear your thoughts! How I love The Secret History - what a great book! I'm hoping to re-read it soon, because I loved it when I read it a few years ago 😃
i liked the love hypotesis haha but i didn't take it seriously, it's a silly story and it made me cringe A LOT. MYORAR was one of my favourites books of the last year, it has something special and i think that not everybody realizes that the main character is insufferable on purpose, because that's the point btw sorry for my english :)
ahhh so glad you loved MYORAR too - I agree that you just have to know the character is written like that ironically and it becomes so much more enjoyable (and don't apologise your english is fantastic!)
The Secret History is my favorite book of this year (possibly ever) and I don't think any book can top it. It's changed me and how I view writing. I'm currently another book by Donna Tartt, just because I miss her writing
literally agree !!! it genuinely raised my standards in books, it's honestly incredible! which book are you on now - the goldfinch or the little friend?
@@katerinareem Donna Tartt's writing is just 🤌🤌🤌 I'm reading The Goldfinch now by her and it's apparently a controversial read, Idk I think it's great but I might a bit biased 😂
I have read My Year Of Rest And Relaxation and it wasn't my favorite book but it was good. I DNF'ed The Cruel Prince book because I could just tell it wasn't for me
@@katerinareem I think MYORAR is just for a specific taste but it's got good writing. I think The Cruel Prince would have been good if I had been younger and less read, but for a 20 something year old it's just not it imo
maybe my fyp is a little different, but I do occasionally see it often recommended, especially in the 'books for weird girls' genre (I wonder what they says about me LOL)
Welcome back from Mexico! New viewer (last few videos and cherry picking past vids) here. As someone who also loves Tartt, have you read her other two works and if so, what’s your Tartt ranking. I also read The Goldfinch but I’m still missing The Little Friend-I hear rumors that her fourth work is rising from the depths to surprise us all as Tartt is not one for the camera/news.
yay !! I have read her other two works - I did enjoy the little friend, it's a very different book I feel compared to the dark academia vibe that the secret history and the goldfinch has, but I still enjoyed it! I also liked the goldfinch but I did find at times it dragged (!) so my ranking would be 1) secret history 2) goldfinch and then 3) the little friend! and yes - she seems to write a book every 10 years so we're def due a fourth one and i'm very excited for it !!!
I agree with your take on A Little Life. It is well written but unrelentingly bleak and traumatic , and the final chapters are as you say"over the top".
Heyy so i was wondering which of these should I read?? Someone please HELPP •cruel prince series -holly black •shatter me series -tahere mafi •once upon a broken heart series -stephanie garber *King of wrath series - ana huag (I just got into reading soo i am not sure which one should I pick help me guysss and i am a teen btw)
Personally I really recommend the ‘Once upon a broken heart’ series. I got out of a 5 year reading slump until I read this book which was unexpected for me. I think it’s easy to read and get lost in. Hopefully you enjoy it if you do choose to read it!
I’ve read both the cruel prince series and the shatter me series. The cruel prince is very good, but the first book can be kinda boring. Everyone says it’s a romance but it’s actually a political fantasy. Shatter me is great, it has a really good romance subplot! But restore me and unravel me were a bit hard to get through cuz they were boring.
