I just think it won't be produced like this. The front graphics yes but not the side silhouette: Having no front bumper but a hard edge above the headlights is impractical and would in case of a collision throw the opponent under the car rather than on top of the hood. So I assume the angle will have to be changed and a bumper added (even though for some reasons designers don't like bumpers looking like such any more). Speaking of side silhouettes, from the side the blunt front end of the NK-X looks rather unelegant to me. I much prefer the sloping hoods of Porsche.
I’m a big fan of the idea of making the kidneys stretch from head to middle. This (stock) looks like my ideal kidneys with regular kidneys ontop. I’m in it for the 70’s style BMW graphics
Dude that redesign is so much better. Front end especially. Does not look like a caricature. Looks like a BMW for a start. Great work. Goes to show, automotive industry has lost their way a long long time ago. They do not know what proportion is about anymore. Keep up the good work.
The thing i dont get it is why Bmw left its beautiful and characteristic two round head lights. In current models they put sharp corners to them. In this concept they r just two lines. I was hoping sketch monkey to change the head lights into two round head lights. He didnt do it also. I really believe the car will look much more handsome and much more real Bmw.
Tbh, I think they look quite nice, which I didn’t expect. It looks much more BMW now (and much more consistent in design language, which is an amazing thing). I just hope the integrate something like the grille in this video in both the production SUV AND sedan
@@mrsoisauce9017 i agree with u. The overall design language is much more consistent and loyal to Bmw dna. Especially comparing with the recent models the ugly 4 series, 7 series and iX. My problem with this concept is two paralel line head lights. Why not use two round head lights which is one of the strongest characteristics of Bmw dna along with L shaped back lights and the Hofmeister kink.
@@fratsimsek2600 the Hofmeister Kink is intact, so we don’t have to worry about that. The L shaped taillights should make a return. But as for the headlights, I personally think just having the two lines for the headlights is very fitting of the rest of the design language of the car. Something rounder just wouldn’t work on this design imo
@@mrsoisauce9017Hoffmeister kink is NOT properly intact... it disappeared with the 4, whatever is on the X6 and barely look like it here and the XM. I also have no idea why there's now a forward slanting piece on top of the rearwards-actual Hoffmiester kink in the 3, 5, and 7. Hoffmeister kink to me is just ONE straight line. \ __/ not this __/ but this
@@mrsoisauce9017 I want the led running light design inside the main headlight unit to be two rounds. I think it is a timeless design element. plus the main characteristics of Bmw face. the headlight unit can be designed according to the current design language but inside the headlight unit there must be two round led running lights. I hope I could express myself better :)
I like the redesign, but I'd slim down the kidneys just a bit further to be more rectangular than square. And round headlights. And I'd do every BMW's rear like the new X1 with the prominent hockey sticks.
I get that the “kidney” grille is a signature design feature of BMW. However with electric cars there’s no need for a grille to cool the engine so , why have one solely for nostalgia purposes? Why not reinvent the identity so that form follows function again?
Not a fan of the redesign. I don't mind the grills too much. I'm not sure about the split lower bumper though. In the rear the tail lights should be L-shaped IMO.
I see the Disconnect. BMW has INTERNAL Dogma that the 2002 is Peak BMW, but we the fans know that the e46 M3 is Peak BMW. We want an e46 Grill and Face, and they keep trying to push the 2002 (from G80 M3 onward)
@@ghost21501 but you understand that the vertical grill is part of BMW's history? I think it definitely can be incorporated on the new cars, just not how it is now.
bmws get uglier and uglier. design team must have 0 clue on what car design is. imagine spending 100-150k on this suv when there are so many better looking ones
I have thought the vertical kidneys should have been on the sedan from the start. After all, the sedan is inspired by the E30 and/or 2002, which famously have the vertical grills.
Since you gave the e46 as a reference, why not use the same solution as the e46 with the creases coming down from the hood and wrapping around a smaller grille about as thick as the headlights themselves?
The reason why they went vertical grilles was to distinguish the SUV from the sedan.i get it's more aesthetically pleasing with the wide grilles but that's why they went that way
Looks atrocious. It was dead on arrival, putting lipstick on it didn't help. You tried, but some can't be fixed my guy. I don't know what the hell is going on with car styling anymore. That white 3 series looks like a morphed mitsubishi lancer rear end. So strange.
I thought the tab door handle on the Mustang Mach-e was a cheap afterthought and I’m disappointed to see it here. Similar to door handles built into the window trim on some Lincoln models it looks odd and from some angles like an accident or major defect. The changes are an improvement but it loses some of its uniqueness. The rear view looks more generic, like a VW. I agree I like the more simplified and integrated headlights into the kidney grille of the sedan concept.
About your comment on the angle of the front end of the sedan, I actually quite like it because it calls back to the 2002. If anything, I wish the rear was either more squared off or angled outwards
BMW to their designers: "we dont care how ugly it is, just make sure you accentuate the nostrils, theyre the only thing that matters!" Designers: "say no more!"
My takes : Front : 3 - yeap Stretch em kidneys! Side : 4 - Beautiful side view thou Maybe Make More Front overhang?! looks like it hit a wall , and the hood is a bit too tall?! Maybe Make it slope a bit More Downwards with the larger overhang Back : 4 - Make the hatch door larger it looks like it opens up above the waist line of Most average size Adults
I like the nostrils they way they are. I prefer your rear though. I would tidy up the graphics around the bumper. There is too much non-sensical black stuff going on down there.
I wonder how that interior will evolve now that the EU (fortunately) declared buttons safer than screens and with possible changes to homologation of new vehicles coming as a result of this
100% agree with the changes made here, much more bmw much better on the eyes. Either way these concepts are an improvement on bmws current design language
It had rabbit teeth now has beaver teeth, i think the grill should be as tall as the headlights and slightly wider than those you made! Still very fun to watch your videos!
I dont think you should worry about autonomous driving. I can only speak for Massachusetts, but I promise you, AI will never figure out the insane unmarked intersections of this state, even if it eventually figures out how to approach the pothole problem. Which, as of now, it has not.
Great changes! I think the lower front bumper could use some revision too. I wonder if BMW designers see your content? They could certainly learn a thing or two from you!
Honestly, I think BMW got it right this time, on both models. No tweaks or touch-ups needed in my opinion. I really appreciated that BMW is doing a much better job of incorporating feedback from CUSTOMERS for their future design language.
That sedan grille looks like the Opel vizor grille with a line added in the middle. For the BMW I prefer the narrow kidneys. It is a new start for BMW. They will need enough space to let the kidneys grow for the next decades 😊
