There are always new things to learn in this photography journey. This chapter is one i aim really happy to go into. I have always wanted to test out vintage lenses, and getting a couple to try out on my digital camera has been a game changer for me. I must say i enjoyed shooting manual lenses. Taking a bit more time and setting up the frames a bit more liberate than i usually do. Not the best images in this video either, but i am growing and i enjoy this search for better frames a lot.
Thank you for hanging around with me, i wanted this time to focus on how i normally edit photos, but i know some of you want to see some Film simulations. This is a topic i will go into in future videos for sure.
Until next time, enjoy :)

That was fun! For too long I haven't done street photography, and this reminds me just how much I miss it. I like your "eye", nice work and thanks for the inspiration.

Yeah, vintage lens on Mirrorless cameras... For me, it started with a Helios 44M-6 and some Takumars... it hasn't stopped! My latest vintage lens is a Konica Hexanon AR 28/3.5 that I've been messing around with for the past couple days. I wanted a wider Hexanon lens to help round out that collections of great lenses. if I can suggest one of those, it would be the Konica Hexanon AR 40/1.8. That has to be one of my favorite lenses. Its so damn Good! Wickedly sharp, fairly cheap, easy to use and super colorful and contrasty. But be warned, it will lead you down a trail of wanting more Konica Hexanon AR lenses. I currently own 7 Konica lenses and a set of AR extension tubes. (side note, the 40/1.8 plus a 20mm extension tube makes for an awesome macro setup!) And I didn't spend that much on most of them. I like to find lenses that have a problem that I know I can fix. I picked up the 57/1.4 for $24 because it had a couple dents on the front of the filter threads and the focus ring was a bit stiff. After about an hour and a half, the lens was working perfectly and is now super smooth to turn and the dents are all cleaned up. The glass in that lens was in excellent shape. I didn't even have to really clean anything in that regard, but I did because I had to remove all the glass to fully clean out the old grease to get the focus helicoids clean and turning smoothly again. In the end, that is such a beautiful lens. I did a similar thing with the 50/1.7. It had oil all over the blades. Someone tried to fix the stiff focus ring by dumping a bunch of oil on the helicoids and it just ended up getting everywhere inside the lens. I bought that one for $12 and it came with a Konica 2x converter. Again, remove all the glass, fully clean the aperture. Clean out all the old grease, re-grease the focusing threads and reassemble the lens. That very common and cheap lens is insane how good that lens is. Super sharp and full of character. And they made 4 different versions of the 135mm. I own the f3.2 and the f2.5. I'm still not sure which one I like better! Both sharp, both easy to use, one is a bit faster, but both have a wonderful blur to the bokeh. The 2.5 had a spot of fungus on the rear element and a bit of dust inside. I paid $30 for it, cleaned it up and now I have an amazing lens that is super cool! can't say enough about the Konica lenses!

My whole channel has kind of just migrated into vintage lenses and gear. Ironic, since for the first part if my career, it was all still analogue and film! Rediscovering it has been great. The FD 1.8 is awesome. I have the nFD and old breach-lock FDs.

@@qimsim_ But sadly, idk what kind of adapter should I pick, I brought an fd ef adapter without an optical, which it turned into a macro lens only, can u give me recommendation that u know for the adapter?
@qimsim_
@qimsim_ 10 месяцев назад
@@asianbalot2211 I use an fd to x mount converter as I shoot on fujifilm. But I do believe it should work with an fd to ef perfectly. If you have a full frame camera that converter sounds like it should work. There will be a little crop if you use it on a apsc camera..

That was quick! Mmmmnnnn canon FD❤ How did you find the sharpness? I have an old soviet Helios 44-M which I think might be my sharpest lens (keep an eye out for any of the Helios 44 lenses you won't regret it)! Good to see this one buddy!

Thank you, haha, and i will, ive only just found out about those Helios 44 lenses. - Totally forgot to burn the captions into the video, haha, always something. Oh, yeah, the 100mm was super sharp, from wide open, but the 50 was soft af 😆 Has character so mad fun ✨

@@qimsim_ what's the 100mm at wide open? The 44-m is f2. Not the easiest to manual focus wide open (lucky we have a magnifying focus aid on modern cameras) look forward to what you bring us next!

@@binstewartthe 100 mm is a f/2.8. It outshines my 50mm on all points, except If you want that oldschool blur, haha, then the 50 is perfect for my taste. I want to test these helios lenses. I heard the bokeh is squirly and has good character…
@binstewart
@binstewart 10 месяцев назад
@@qimsim_ that's what they are known for but they are a very nice sharp lens too! Afaik the swirly bokeh was seen as a defect and was removed with the later variations, I think the 44-2 is the one with the best swirly bokeh (but it's harder to find).

Try the Carl Ziess Jenner (sorry if I spelt it wrong) DDR 135mm 3.5 & the 50mm 2.8, they are both super sharp lenses & still pretty cheap to buy on the M42 mount.
