This is a very old tank, made on the day that the game released! I've done a total rework of it, and now it's a really cute little Japanese tank!

I believe that the small pole extruding from the pz. 38(?)t mantlet is for the recoiling system.

Yes, I believe some exhaust gasses got directed in there to act like a pneumatic spring.

Think of it's cannon as the ak47's barrel/gas blowback system

The exposed portion is called a recuperator. It’s a hydro-pneumatic cylinder that absorbs recoil energy. On a towed artillery piece it allows the gun to recoil separately from the carriage and helps allow for more rapid firing. On a tank it spares the shock of fire being passed straight to the turret and ring.

Yeah the crossroad is currently either "heavy tank that bounces every shot and pens the King Tiger" or "build a lot of very light tanks so you can try and get behind the King Tiger with one"

I didn't have the time (quite a lot of things to do) to modify the tank i submitted to remove the spare track that's making it not respect the rules , so it might not be selected . However, it was a good challenge as a "new" player to build a tank respecting some conditions and not just trying to create some overpowered tank. Waiting for the stream to see which tank is going to win.

The first tank, remade in modern day for RU-vid. It looked cool, even if it's a bit ugly, before, and it looks really cool now. Great on such an old tank made new.

The bit under the barrel is the recoil rail for the gun to slide on, and the cylinder(s) on top of the barrel is the recuperator. Sometimes just the oil cylinder is on top and the air component is hidden insdide the recoil rail, but sometims both the oil and the air cylinders are on top.

I like the size of the tank it's, cute? Ish? It's a cool tank either way. An idea for the next tank could be like a Matilda style tank (faster than the real one hopefully lol) with that neet 2 pounder cannon the British seemed to love so much. A hyper velocity pea shooter lol.

I don't remember which was my first ever tank in sprocket but it's one of two I made on the same day. One is a tank that looked like a Jagdpanzer IV but it had a 250mm short barrel howitzer. I colored it pink and named it "Marshmallow". The other tank was long, wide and extremely flat with huge tracks. The gun was a really long 200mm barrel coming from the rear of the tank.

Yo you're a sprocket legend but I gotta say the tank I built today (an american one) looks so much cooler than your first tank! Which is kind of interesting. Although I have experience in Stormworks, Brick Rigs, and other building games so I guess I had an advantage hahaha

The first tank I made was a weird almost Bradley looking thing, except the turret was in the rear right corner and it was Swiss.. idk why, I just thought it would look cool

I found your channel a few days ago, started watching some you make some very impressive chassis for your tanks. Can i make a suggestion your turrets are always very flat, and very tall. The taller the steel plat and flatter it is the easier it is to pierce. The flat faces are very very bad. Which is why a tiger 1 could be pierced by a 75mm and 85mm like hot butter. The flat faces also have the added problem of deflecting shots down into the turret ring. Which is also very very bad. You want a 30 to 60 degree angle on your turret face so the round goes up not down.
