Unifi also has a camera like this. No solar but it has a little screen that you can put messages that nobody will read because nobody is accustomed to seeing a message on the doorbell. Best feature, if you couple this with a doorbell that can play MP3 you can have the imperial March play each time and with a little delay and getting to the door quickly you can have a soundtrack to whenever you open your door. Couples with a flood light by Unifi you can also trigger a light to turn on down the walk before the motion sensor couple pick you up normally.
Just watched the video (loved it), just went to purchase and looks like the promo code is also invalid?? "The promotional code you entered is not valid."
@@paulhibbertThe Reolink one is better because I can answer the door even before the visitor rings it. This one seems incredibly slow on notifications.
If the EZVIZ is mounted with adhesive pads, it would be very easy to lose: 1. The package on your porch. 2. The EZVIZ unit. 3. Any evidence of the incident. That makes it a no go.
Thank you so much for the Kind advert at the end 😎🤙 Im glad it was on such a classic video, the Anakin bit was awesome, and glad you brought the head explosions back 🤣They are not easy, I had done one in my first videos. For the camera, I may have to switch going to measure to see if I have the space. My current one the notification and screen pop are so long the burglar has already bludgeoned me to death and threw on a pot of coffee.
The aqara camera is battery powered, similar features to this with no subscription but includes 7 days cloud storage. It also stores the data in the base unit not the camera. Reolink is the best on the market for wired. Works seamlessly with Frigate.
Ubiquiti have been doing doorbells with package cameras for ages :D I have a Doorbell G4 Pro PoE, no subscription, all hosted locally. I even get to put a gif of a cat on it.
Nice video, Paul, which led me to buy this. I had no end of trouble installing it, the app was slow and a lot of the text was in broken English, and it just didn't wuuuuuurk. Swapped it out for Eufy, and so far... it just wuuuuurks!!
Even my RING camera (don't judge - I've had it for years) has an easy SNOOZE feature. At least that's something that can be added by an update - not like they gimped up the lens or something.
instead on only using their cloud storage it would be great to allow owners to direct the storage to their own equipment. they could offer a storage option/device similar to a raspberry pi zero which could easily be less that £50, or allow users to direct it somewhere like their dropbox account. i dont think its acceptable how manufacturers dictate where you can store data from a device you own.
Hi Paul, watched this twice coz I was on the edge of purchasing, but then I noticed your discount code on the deadline day! That was lucky 😆 just saved a nice chunk. 🍻 pal.
The US link isn't for the model you showed in the video and now I'm sad. I checked the site and apparently that model and even ANY model with solar isn't an option. Love your videos and thank you for being the crazy guy you are
One thing you made no mention of is how exactly the solar panel hooks in the camera and how long of a cord comes with the solar panel? Reason I ask is my porch has a rook over it and my battery doorbell never gets any sun so, I installed a solar panel that came with 13feet of cord, so I could mount the panel on the roof and keeps my doorbell cam topped off!
If you want snooze but the app doesn't support it. Have an extra button (or just in the app) and a relay of some sort, and make it so for every notification the relay must be off. Then you create your button press to keep the relay on for 10 minutes before it goes off again. This is how i make "advanced" and less annoying alerts and functions in Tuya since it is a very simple app.. So most of my "Scenes" and tap to run have at least two necessary conditions that must be satisfied (before i used it to turn on ventilation and it just beeped hundreds of times an hour when it was already on, now it doesn't activate any more before the fan is completely off and I've set it to be on 30 minutes for every activation) It was a life changer for me too get this working as the app never gets support like that.
I have a Ring doorbell and for some reason Amazon seem to have a delivery driver block on it? As I never seem to catch them leaving the package in front of the door instead of our safe space plus they never push the bell either! But to be fair we do have one that has come a few times and he is a polite man that will do everything we request.
Enjoying your honest review of this, and the other gubbins you play with :-) 👍 If you've ever got the time or funds, perhaps you can try that pricey Unifi / Ubiquiti doorbell, only if you think you'll get paid well of course! 🙂
I think you need to film a Ubiquiti skit like the Home Assistant man. While their G4 Pro has several disadvantages from this, it does offer local recording if you happen to have massively overspeccd your WiFi or networking equipment like I have! 😅
Great video Paul, thank you. how far can the solar panel be separated from the door bell unit? How does it connect. would want to relocate the panel in the sun say 30 cm away from the base unit as otherwise it would be in the shade under my porch.
I thought the same thing as my nest doorbell is on the right of the door frame, so the panel wouldn't work if its attached like Pauls. looked on Amazon shows it can be separated to either side or above, but no distance details.
Looking through the user guide for this .... does this only record human movement? My current front door camera (CloudEdge I think) has option for motion detection, such as cars .. as well as human detection ... so I use it as a kinda security cam as well ... cannot see an option for that in this EZVIZ product?
I have bought the ch1 chime with it from amazon, what is It I am reading about solar panel and wired chime compatibility? The ch1 us wireless and is acting as a repeater, no physical wired chime connection to the bell Is the chime I have bought and paired with the doorbell the chime in question and I shouldn't use the solar panel? Also I had to set up the device again and didn't get the option for power method, where is the setting to switch between solar battery or mains?
Just watched the video (loved it), just went to purchase and looks like the promo code is also invalid?? "The promotional code you entered is not valid."
Hello, first of all , great video as always. One question: is there different model of this camera because on Amazon France, it only costs 109.99 euros (94 ,£) ! ?
No RTSP and no HA integration is a no go for me, otherwise it seems to be perfect. You said you tried, does that mean the instructions mention it so it maybe will be fixed in a FW upgrade?
07:45 You're sure it isn't "Lingering detection", i.e. only notifies if somebody *lingers* in front of your door for a few seconds? I know the Aqara has this to not ping you for every single person just walking past your door.
I really don't know how you pulled it off, but my Alexa went off at 4:00 a.m. telling me that a wanker had just posted a video that I had to watch now. That's quite a disturbing way to be woken up! 😂 🤣 seriously though another great video thank you!
I bought this camera a month ago for 99 euro incl solar. At this moment the battery is 100% full, I get messages in a few seconds. There are no cons found so far.
When I add it to cart I get the price of £129.99 and when I try and apply the promo code I get 'The promotional code you entered is not valid.' is this correct?
Be careful! While Google Nest Aware lets you add multiple cameras for one price, your bill for data with your ISP may jump up another tier since the cameras are always feeding video back to Google and that can cost you more money.
@@pimw9805 damn, there must be a hidden part, besides the 32GB and cloud storage I don't hear anything abiout recording footage to a NAS device? Shure you can help me on that, where did you here him talking about that?
Intrigued with the routine to display on the TV. What if you're not in - how does it cancel? It could be streaming for hours and kill the battery, surely?
Just add to the routine a wait time and then a command to turn the tv off, the doorbell should stop when the person has left, echo shows are on all the time, besides, most tvs have a standby inactivity anyway after a few minutes
I understand reviews and I understand sponsors, but reviewing a sponsored product is just a commercial and a bad practice. Stopped video immediately when you admitted it, which I appreciate you saving my time.
On Android you can swipe the notification in a certain direction and it will snooze all notifications from that source for 10 mins. Not sure which direction it is as iv only ever done it by accident.
Why is anyone buying Nest or any of these when you could buy Reolink? Yes, it works with HOME ASSISTANT, but when you want security cameras all around your house--Reolink is cheaper and has the reliable NVR to record everything that's connected to it.
3M tape on brick?? that will fall off with the first rain or someone can just walk up and take it off the solar panel is a great idea but it is unsightly and way too big imo
What the f is your problem with Google home? Works great in the Netherlands where as Alexa is a shitshow since it still doesn't understand the Dutch language. With nabu casa Google home even works great with Home Assistant. Maybe your linguistic skills are the problem there 😂 Great video again nonetheless, puts a smile on my face every Saturday morning 😁
Me too, works fine and indoor hub is far more secure. 3 day storage isn't great for me. If you get a lot of notifications e.g. recording 32mB will fill up faster than 3 days.
I'm watching Star Wars in episode order and was amazed that Anakin didn't face any consequences for slaughtering the Tusken Raiders. It should have been a defining moment but it was a non-event. I don't even get why Padme loves him. He was initially creepy towards her and stayed creepy. I'm very disappointed in the stoyline and a lot the dialog. I fondly rember the original and can probably quote lines from it. Although I've seen some of the others I don't have any fond memories, as if they were blah, and I still feel the same way. Will see what happens when I get to the original. Will I be disapointed in that too?
@paulhibbert I have an EZViz internal cam (C6CN I think) and I had RTSP working fine, then one day nothing..... I spent AGGESS trying to get RTSP working, after some research it turns out EZViz disabled it in a BIOS update :/ So I've decided to co-purpose my front security camera as a doorbell camera
Wyze doorbell I get 14 days free cloud storage, no subscription. Starlight sensor, and a free tortoise. Still haven't bought a wyze camera to review. Still asking after 3 years.
I'll be totally honest, this is tricky. If Wyze don't sponsor me then I lose out on the vast majority of my income. I would have to turn down a sponsor to then spend my own money on a doorbell I don't need. I don't know why after all these years Wyze haven't made contact 🤷♂️
I'd be concerned that eventually Wyze would change their tune about not requiring subscription - I've been able to avoid Cam+ so far but fear that my next Wyze purchase will require it for any meaningful functionality. I get Wink vibes for some reason....
Snooze really is somehting that should happen the ring snooze doesnt work properly even though its quite prominent on the dashboard the lights still come on on the spotlight cam which is annoying if you're trying to sit in the garden at night. Why can you snooze rhe alerts but not the lights??! So bloody frustrating
Paul FYI - as a Nest subscriber I can confirm your pricing looks out of date. Nest Aware (clips not continuous) is £60 p.a., Nest Aware plus (24/7 recording) is £120 p.a. i.e. 24/7 = £10 p.m Cheers
When you made a shoutout to all the Jeff's out there that aren't subscribed yet (Will you just subscribe already and make Paul happy?) , I was expecting a 'My name is Jeff' Jif Nah I'm not that guy - I'm on team gif with a G
You need it paused when you mow your lawn? You have a droid to mow the lawn. I'd think a camera to watch it would be preferred. When Jeff was mentioned, I was expecting to cut to a phallic rocket with a bald doofus in a space suit.
