26:56 A weird stat line for Tim Lincecum. A game where he lost 3-2. Went 8.2 and gave up 3 earned runs. I can only imagine how heartbreaking that game was, was going for the complete game shutout and gave up a walk-off 3-run homer.
this almost happened to aaron nola this year, had a shutout into the 9th (perfect game blown in 7th) and gave up a 2 run hr to tie it. padres ended up winning on a walk off
I swear every time Bailey says “Remember him?” in that dog-owner-like candor, I’m just nodding profusely! Yes! I remember Everth Cabrera! I remember Chris Denorfia! We loved our terrible mid-2010s Padres teams.
Never should have happened to begin with. Will never forgive Bid Selig for taking advantage of the Astros ownership situation instead of moving the Brewers back to the AL where they belong.
Miggy did win the triple crown. It’s league based and a National League Posey was the only person with a higher avg. so Miggy once again won his triple crown. (Fun fact: when Miguel Cabrera won the triple crown in 2012 Posey, Melky Cabrera, and Joey Votto had higher avg. funny that in a resimulation posey would still beat him)
@@EvanS_-no, the triple crown is restricted to your league, as in AL or NL. That’s why Goldy and Judge both potentially winning the triple was a huge conversation in early august
@E.W. Hans I still wake up in a cold sweat from time to time thinking about the Erik Bedard trade, both because of the "what if he stayed healthy" factor, and the fact that we gave up Adam Jones for him. Seeing that name so much in a 2 hour span is bad for our collective mental health up here in Seattle
I just looked him up and he was still playing in Mexico in 2019, when he turned 46. He got about 6000 ABs in Mexico after leaving the majors. No wonder the Rays wanted him!
I’ve done watcher saves like this in OOTP from 1871-present and the first greatest player of all time, was some guy who irl played 3 season and had like 200 PA. Seeing how this game handles the sim engine is so great, anything and everything can change!!!
Looks at thumbnail: Cool, there's an AU where Felix Hernandez might pitch in the playoffs Looks at video length: Holy Shit. 30:25-No matter where, no matter how, the WARlord is inevitable
We might see Oscar Tarveras, Tommy Hanson, Jose Fernandez, Yordano Ventura, Luis Valbuena, and Tyler Skaggs have much longer careers. R.I.P. To all these young men who had crazy high ceilings...
An interesting part of the alternate reality aspect of this episode is the lack of a biogenesis scandal. I believe Melky Cabreba was implicated in that and in this save he has had two great seasons to start it off. We also saw Ryan Braun have a monster season in 2012 and not get suspended in 2013. Yasmani Grandal would have also been suspended in 2013. Also side note, the a's have had 2 consecutive rookie of the year winners. Will be interested to see if they have a dynasty that clashes with the young royals dynasty again.
@@falocan54 He came up as a Corner Infielder, but he was so bad at 3rd, and Beltre had that spot, that he was forced to move to 1B. He was even worse there, plus he couldn't use his ++ arm, so they moved him to LF.
Tod Wilhelmson had a 705 ERA+ & came second in the 2013 AL reliever of the year. I don't know if that's a miscalculation or something but that's insane
I was excited for this from when I first saw the posts on Twitter, but it wasn't until Jose Fernandez came up that I realized just how exciting (and, in that case, heart wrenching) this could be - I was excited to see heroes of mine like Wright get a fuller career, but thinking of a guy like Fernandez whose career (and, of course, life) was so tragically cut short getting a chance to build a full career is really powerful. I'm super excited for this series, and I know if anybody is going to do it justice it's Bailey. I can't wait!
This is very cool I'm definitely going to be checking out this series, you also motivated me to run my own little OOTP past simulation.. I'm doing it from all the way back to the early 1980's to see where guys like Ken Griffey Jr and others get drafted and see how they do.
Your second pronunciation of Ruggiano is correct. He managed to play in the MLB in 10 seasons, not bad for someone who sits in my early 2010s memory bank.
About 43 mins in and I love all the videos on this channel as well as Baseball Bits, but as simple as this idea is, I think this is my favorite baseball video I've watched. I love what-if stuff, and seeing some old names go bonkers is awesome.
Ruben Rivera popping up on the Rays after being out of the league since 2003 and playing 8 years in Mexico to win a world series with the Rays is hilarious.
“The cardinals had to settle for a wild card spot” As if they didn’t have the greatest regular season comeback ever, aside from the Rays in the same year at the same time
Thank god u exist bruh cause I watch clique productions and others do sims like this in NBA 2k and always wanted somebody to do something like it in OOTP, it's a perfect game for videos like this but nobody has jumped on it yet til now
Pedroia signing with Milwaukee is killing me :'( I just realized the Red Sox are probably screwed financially because they didn't get to do the 2012 salary dump with LA. They're stuck with Carl Crawford in perpetuity
Excellent video, your content is interesting, but really it is your voice, pacing, and insights that make this really fun to watch. I’m new to your channels, but I think you could really be on a pro-sports broadcast show. I can hear you going through the out of town scoreboard on commercial breaks. Then running the post game show from the studio. You’ve got some real skill.
The real life 2013 Mariners went 71-91 and had Nick Franklin and Brendan Ryan 3rd and 4th in the lineup. I watched most of the games that season. This AU is the therapy I've needed ever since
Not everyone's gonna watch this but I am EXCITED for this. Funny enough I am a very casual Baseball fan who could never tell you even the starting line up of my own team. But I love stuff like this and always will. Idk why but listening to stuff like this along with playing video games are great so imma just play MLB 21. Really hope for more!
i would like to see the top 100 prospects just s little bit more, and would also like if you’d scroll through every teams off-season recap so we can stay updated with every teams moves
Can't believe you passed on a chance to bring up Big Sexy himself when he was on screen at the end of May 2012. 2 complete games for him through May, mad respect
I have alternate history nostalgia from 2011 when I did a 1976-on simulation of the Cleveland Indians (changed the name to the Blues) on Baseball Mogul. I got 9 years of Roger Clemens, plugging him directly into my starting rotation out of college... finally the Yankees offered him more than I could match, he tore his ACL in his first year with them, and 2 years later I had him back as a competent long reliever, instead of the HoFer who won two Cy Youngs with me. Damn the Yankees.
Love your content from both channels Bailey. But I don't want this alternate universe where the Royals might not make it to back-to-back World Series. Hopefully we see plenty of Brady Singer called strikes this year!
“Remember ___” Yes. All of them. Every single player. This is my whole childhood. MLB 2k12 was one of about 5 video games total that I played as a kid and I must have put multiple months worth of play time in that disc. If I wasn’t playing it I was writing down fun imaginary lineups. So much Nelson Cruz.
Would there be a roster download for this where I'd also be able to do this or would I have to input this manually this is a such a dope concept makes me want to get the game
I'm old enough to remember Robbie Ross's rookie year and man, he was fun to watch that year. It's a shame he was never able to maintain that level of performance consistently because he was absolute nails when he was on his game.
The Mariners winning the World Series in 2013, followed by the Seahawks winning the Super Bowl in February of 2014 might have killed me from joy. Why isn't this real life? Felix not only saw the playoffs, but the World Series!
On the subject of the weirdness of Max Russell and the Reliever of the Year Award - OOTP gives a Stuff bonus to pitchers coming out of the pen. He also has a more varied pitch repertoire than other relievers. Might have something to do with it? That's just my guess from playing a lot of OOTP, but there's also the random variance of play both with the talent change modifier and how the game works.
2013 Marlins have a strong start to the season, was at the top of the NL East a few times and most recently on August 1st, and then completely collapse and not even finish above .500. Yep, that's the Marlins I know and love.
We were so close to seeing the amazing alternate universe in which todays game is dominated by the top three catchers in the league: Will Smith, JT Realmuto, and Ji Man Choi
McNeil to the Mariners is interesting because he was a part of the Kelenic trade right up to the 11th hour when the Mets decided to keep him. Funny how things seem to work out sometimes
