Its strange i found this video. Our local HVAC repairman was a dentist for 8 years. He said, the field was so different than he ever imagined. He told me he was so much happier now. You just never expect someone to leave a white collar career for a blue collar career.

I think most people don't take dental health seriously so dentists aren't appreciated. I learned this the hard way late in life. Fortunately, my dentist saved a lot of my teeth and I treasure him now. Dentists are amazing,!

Today’s dental student don’t go through the same stress like past dental student generations. The older generations spent most of their time in the dental lab, working on projects and working on their artistic skills. We had to make our own crowns out of wax and cast our own crowns. We learned about occlusion when making these crowns and setting up denture cases. In the first year, those who didn’t have the “hands” and mental strength could not continue (which prepares a young dentist to work with the stress of private practice). Regarding your clear aligned classes, I stress that you teach about occlusion and the importance of submitting full records. I am disgusted that many general dentist don’t think about “finishing the case” by have good occlusion. I have seen many cases where occlusion was not addressed. I recently had a new patient going through re-treatment (was treated by a traveling Orthodontist), and she said her previous dentist did not take records like we did in our office. One time I talked to a rep who represented the largest clear aligned company. She told me I was one of the few dentist who submit complete records in her territory . I asked her, “How can your company make these aligners when you don’t receive complete records?” She said, “We are only a lab. We are not responsible for bad results.” How disappointed many think about the money, and not the ethics of doing good dentistry. Best of luck on your new adventures.

You can choose the easy way, but at the end of the day deep down you will alway know that you couldn't do it. There are no miracles. The effort you put in, the outcomes you will have. Laziness rarely brings prosperity. I wish you all your dreams come true.

Good for you, hope you made the right choice. I would have stuck it out at least 5 more years in that nice dental group practice and really gotten to be skilled at the things I like to do. Aligner treatment is not as straight forward as they make you believe, my background in classical orthodontics taught me that. They are a great tool in the right hands for the right cases. Diagnosis is key! I bet you teach that in your courses. Best of luck creating good content that people actually need and want. I personally never thought there is a big need for it as there are plenty of reputable courses already offered since Invisalign started. But hey, you can always go back into clinical dentistry when the going gets tough again! 😉

Thanks for that insight! I agree - there are definitely reputable courses that exist and everyone should learn from people they prefer. However with all the courses - dentists are still not offering it confidently and my goal is to change that

COURAGE! Wow, there needs to be a stronger word than courage. Going through the detoxing, I'm thankful I had a doc who knew what to do. Part of what I did is not researched based, peer reviewed, patented and the company is in PubMed because the outcomes are much better than any other. And they will pay you, as they prefer not to sell to stores, but doctors (who are also on their boards) to keep it from being tainted.

@WoundedThrivers

Are you a dentist or in the medical field? That is a horrible question to ask...most should be fired when you find out poltics thrive well in dentistry. They can make is sound very logical, but ask them proof from peer-reviewed studies. I hope you always have an honest dentist, but it is doubtful. The real truth is getting out and with this young man - he will save lives of patients and maybe dentists. Look up yours and see if he's been turned in. It blows my mind. The intern I had when the professor saw what was done and the death defying ways I was wiling for and still suffer is NOT odd. Problem is - most patients don't know how to look up doctors, and research. If it is done, please do it or learn. I've seen it and I'm shocked. Shouldn't we be thankful for those who warn us?

@@WoundedThrivers he’s the sort of new graduate who has a huge ego and thinks he knows it all. Eight jobs in two years is excessive in any field.Yes, I was a dentist for many years , heading a large practice, patients like continuity in their treatment, seeing as he averaged a new job every three months he wouldn’t even have had follow up to see if his work was satisfactory and if the patients liked him. I would NEVER employ a dentist with such a poor work history.

@@apopisso6302 Thank you for your insight. I'm sorry for being rude. I am very angry, as I had a mistake, but I research. It lead me to my records, and seeing the lies of this dentist, I couldn't believe. Without any protocol for a Chronic Ill person, he ruined my life the past 7 years. The board called HIM and asked if he did this. He said no. And told them I needed to turn in another dentist. 2 suspensions and another? I'm weary, EPA is empathetic, but once it leaves the normal people, it stops. Same with OSHA. There is no way to tell of the trauma of how sick and alone I feel. My docs knew I would not make it. Now I wish I hadn't. I'm so tired of this, and of course, everyone knows, but protects dentists. There is a huge write-up on Dentist Today (?? I think) and it tells the story I figured out. He's doing what this guy says. I wish people would see his reviews. I am heartened by the fact you wrote back, and I appreciate it very much. I will let my teeth fall out before I have another procedure. :)

Great question! I was fortunate to work with phenomenal colleagues who were able to resume and finish care for the patients who were still undergoing treatment. Our treatment philosophies were very similar and their cases are in great hands 🙌🏽

“their cases are in great hands “. That’s cos the dentists taking over the treatment will hang around long enough,instead of spitting the dummy when things don’t go their way.
