I Roy never really get the props he truly deserve. He, in my opinion was as big as U Roy, Big Youth, U Brown etc... A legend that has been somewhat forgotten. A really great artiste totally on top of his game. R.I.P big man. I will always hold a space on my turntable for I Roy records.
All present at this show witnessed something words can barely describe. I Roy was and still is one of the greatest exponents of the Foundation of Reggae/Dancehall music and culture. Thanks my bredda Ras Order for this! NUFF RESPECT Itinually!
The toasting maestro, the great lyrical faucet and poetical master of rhymes, holding court and free-styling live in dance-hall style to a spell-bound audience, four years before his death. This man was probably the most gifted roots toaster cum dj that ever graced the art. His accumulated bank of lyrical rhymes was almost inexhaustible. He gushed out rhymes and lyrics the way a faucet spews out water. He was truly a lyrical faucet. So sad he died a pauper, a broken man. I-Roy: "Love is a conventional thing. So let it bring all over the world. Ah this a black man time. Ah this a black man...... Cease. Me I tell you.... Me I tell you...... Love.. Hold it. hold it. Good evening my band. Good evening my band..... We are coming from far, the continent (Africa). All over we dey you know. All over we dey and marsh it.... We gon kill it..."

@colonelofcork The great Roy Reid died of heart failure back in 99... He was homeless at the time of his death at the young age of 55. This footage was shot at the Hammersmith Palais, London in 95. I was there that night and met Roy briefly about an hour before he went on stage. always my favourite toaster, the voice will live on for generations to discover and enjoy...
@lordfrank305 roy samuel reid aka I-roy. same league with U-roy n dillinger. his words are very meaningful, but u gotta listen to the music several times, u know, 'to be in tune with it'. i got most of his albums.
