I'd love to see you duplicate any piece of furniture you restore. Using the same or different wood. *Then at a museum, place1 both pieces side by side and ask the museum visitors if they can pick the duplicate?
Maybe the school had a banquet hall for special occasions. My old school had one that was amazing, not quite sure how old it was but looking back I'd say just before or after WWI, very modern at that time, yet luxurious. The building is older, 1880s or 1890s I think.
Ahti, that was gorgeous. Every single time you receive a disaster like this, you turn it into treasure. The fabric choice was spot on. Thanks for sharing this with us all.
Gorgeous! Must have been a really posh school to have chairs like that... Big difference to the iron-framed, built-in, two-seater, Victorian bench-seats we were still polishing with our backsides as late as 1968!
I watch A LOT of restoration, craftsman, upholstery videos and you are by far the best. I am so disappointed you do not have over a million viewers. Something needs to be done to get you more viewers. Obviously they do not know what they are missing out on. My father built specialty wood toys and children’s furniture (rocking horses/chairs, big wooden trucks that actually dumped or picked up things-almost all organic materials. I remember spending days in his shop watching him labor over one piece of a toy until it was perfect. You remind me a lot of him. He spent a year (on and off) in Estonia when the USSR first dissolved a lot of his design and art work was influenced by his time there.
My father made wooden toys, not his profession, but he was very good at it. London Bus (the big red ones), forts, he even made me a string puppet, which I have still got, all hand carved and painted, dressed by my mother. I love the way AT uses the wood and other details to make a silk purse out of a sows ear.
I’m amazed they made chairs with that much detail on the back, in enough numbers to fill a school. It’s really quite beautiful. And if the faux leather was more expensive than real leather, that was one more added element. Chairs were much more plain in the school I went to lol. You did a great job with this one… as always. Redoing the arm 6 times to get it just right is why we all watch your channel.❤️🐝🤗
"Fill a school"? Who said that? This one chair that you know of could've been for a teacher, or in the library, or there could've been only a few of them. Don't hate me. I like to nitpick at what people make up without enough info, which I'm guessing you don't have. 😉✌🐕
My great-grandfather made and restored a lot of furniture. He once said that he absolutely hated the newer polyethylene finishes and wouldn't even have them in his shop. To this day a mere whiff of denatured alcohol and shellac takes me back to those days. Wonderful job of restoring this fine old chair. Love your channel.
What fantastic work, you really are the best! Liking and commenting to get you those views. You deserve them! My grandmother loves your channel, we always watch your new videos together.
Thank goodness this chair with the beautiful corners was saved from the bonfire. Really like the brass finish on the legs and that seat fabric is gorgeous. Great video as always
I love the way that you look at a piece of furniture and say, "I can fix that and make it nice again" and do it. Nice work and a beautiful result! Thanks for sharing!
Anti, I have been watching you for a couple of years now, and I just watched your interview with the TV station. I can tell you, without a doubt, that yes, it IS worth watching your videos! Yes, you are worth all the kind comments. 😊 You have taught me SO many new techniques to repair a piece of furniture, and your videos are never boring. You show the important skills, and skip the six hours of sanding, which we all know you do off camera. There is one other RU-vidr that I watch (in Canada) that rivals you skill, but she does not do quite as many major repairs. She is more of a refinishing expert, with mad wood skills. I imagine you both could have discussions about things you love and hate about woodworking! Thank you for sharing your talents with the world!
The beaten up school chair was something I'd love to imagine I could fix... only I couldn't. I don't have the knowledge/knowhow. I get a new lesson every time I watch your videos. The finished renovation/restoration made me smile. Thank You.
You're a Master Craftsman and Restorer, Ahti. There hasn't been anything you've done that wasn't fantastic. I particularly like the armoires and cabinets that you restore.
Another wonderful restoration ! It takes a special person to see beyond the current state and bring the piece back to its former glory . Thank you for being such a person and bringing us along !
Very nice, I made one mistake a few months ago and watched all most all of your restorations, now I have to wait very patiently for the new one… Great work and worth the wait…👍🏻
That chair is lovely!! It would have been a crime to have tossed it onto a bonfire! I am always amazed by your attention to detail on your restorations. You are a master craftsman!!!
What an incredible rescue!!! The chair looks so modern! The addition of the brass details on the legs and the fabric took it to the next level! Thanks so much for sharing
I absolutely LOVE that chair!! The restoration was superb. Thank you for saving it from the bonfire so that it can be used and enjoyed for many more years to come
Wow, I really like the brass additions you made to the chair legs. That really made a special touch. The fabric you chose is nice too. It doesn't make the chair too modern and keeps its old world charm. ❤
Beautiful new life to this amazing chair. Somewhere an old carpenter is smiling down thanking you for not letting their precious work end up on a bonfire. Perfect choice of fabric to reupholster the seat. ❤
This chair has a wonderful, sleek elegant design. Unfortunately making such refined furniture today would cost a fortune. Great job , delightful result and great video work as usual. Bravo.
Beautiful. People back then took pride in their work just like you do. I am sure if you built something from scratch, it would be awesome. Thank you for sharing.
You''re lucky you had one of the arms! That's quite the combination of angles. The chair looks simple, but is deceptively more complex than you might expect! Wonderful job keeping it out of the bonfire, and under someone's butt for another 100 years.
Everything you choose to work on always ends up looking beautiful, no matter it's worth or condition to begin with. I simply love watching your vids man. Please don't ever stop 🙏🙏🙏. 😎
Hi, bravo once again!! I make 1/12th scale dolls house furniture for collectors, you have given me a few ideas. I wish I had some of your machinery, problem is I haven't the space or the money. Thanks for another interesting tranformation. xxx
