Thank you for this wonderful review of our show. It was a pleasure to meet and hangout with you! As a former Pink Floyd backing vocalist, I am very proud to sing with the Aussie Floyd. Their attention to detail is impeccable. Nick Mason (drummer from the very beginning of Pink Floyd through the Endless River) told me he thinks we've done more shows than they ever did. Great review Steve! 🎉😊
Pink Floyd is my favorite band. I saw them in a rain storm outside in Houston once. Hopefully, I'll get to see you guys someday. Thank you, Steve, for bringing these guys to our attention.
Hey Steve I got your beat. Must have been nice to meet the Dave from the Aussie Pink Floyd show. In 1984 I want to see a guy who had broken away from Pink Floyd doing his own thing in Ottawa Canada. There had been about a hundred people waiting to get in to see him after the show,, but a roadie had sent them away with his announcement that David was not taking any visitors tonight. About 15 minutes later he came back outside where I was standing by myself now and said you're on your own now go ahead and. I walked up grab myself a beer out of the huge cooler that was there and then turned around face-to-face with David Gilmour. We talked mostly about the departure of Rodger Waters and the new direction that Pink Floyd will be taken in the future though the news that the media was spouting at that time was the Pink Floyd was finished. Dave told me keep your dials tune to Pink Floyd will be back. I got it from the horse's mouth, but none of my friends would believe that I actually saw him, met him and actually had a conversation with him. Of course history now proves me correct.
Pink Floyd is my Beatles. I absolutely love Pink Floyd and David Gilmour's music. My biggest regret was not seeing the Pulse tour when they were in Indy.
"Pink Froyd" plays mostly in Calif. I always enjoyed them when they came to town. Most of the Pink Floyd Tribute bands are excellent due to the quality that is required to play their music. The most famous Pink Floyd vinyl album is probably the Mobile Fidelity re-pressing of Dark Side MFSL 1-017, but the best sounding vinyl was the Aussie EMI Harvest SHVL-804, and Japanese Sony 40AP 1750-1 of The Wall.
What a great story! Thanks for sharing! My wife and I are big fans of Aussie Pink Floyd. We see them every year when they play in the Seattle area at the Chateau Ste Michelle summer concert series. We have tickets for this year on August first and we are looking forward to it. New for us this year, we will also be seeing Brit Floyd next week at the competing Marymoor Live concert series.
That is so cool! I would Love to be able to do all that! I did go to one of their shows in Belton,Texas & I Loved them & didn't want it to be over! They are amazing!!!
Wow Steve!! That was VERY cool! I'm a 70's kid and had at least 4 of Floyd's vinyl albums, including a 'studio master' limited edition of Dark Side of the Moon. It was like 50 bucks at the time, which was a huge amount of money for a 33-1/3 LP record!😲 I found out about the Aussie Floyd show a few years ago, and they do one of the absolute best versions of 'Great Gig in the Sky' of any band I've ever heard (besides Pink Floyd themselves). I don't know who the gal is that does the vocals, but she nails the Claire Torrey version from the original album!!😍 These guys are top notch, and keep the Pink Floyd legacy alive! Lucky you buddy!😄😉👍👍👍
Having seen Aussie Floyd many times now in UK , I also so blown away the 1at time I saw them …..still get blown away every time I see them now . Fantastic experience not to be missed ….total perfection.
I saw the Australian Pink Floyd maybe 15-20 years ago in Albany New York. Definitely a excellent show. I never got to attend a Pink Floyd concert, but I've been at concerts from other top-tier bands, and for me the Australian Pink Floyd put on a top-tier concert.
Hey Steve, I discovered this band well over 10 years ago and have seen them almost every time they come through New Jersey since! They put on a great show and I have my tickets to see them yet again on June 18 when they return! I'll be buying my tickets next year and every year thereafter until either they croak or I croak! I'm 65 so time is chugging along! Love this band! I did the research years ago and learned about them and their playing for Gilmour's 50th birthday quite a while ago now! Great story! If the band see's this and want's to give me a tour, I'm in! 🙏🙏🤣 Love your video's also by the way! They're very informative and interesting!👍
I saw Pink Floyd on their Division Bell Tour at the Pasadena Rose Bowl in 1994. I do have the 3 albums named, & also have A Momentary Lapse of Reason & The Division Bell.
This was very fascinatious to listen to... Man, what I would give to hang out with my favorite band! You know what they say, "never meet your heroes" but at the same time our "heroes" can turn out to be very humble and amazing people.
Thank you Steve. I work at a company that upfits trucks. We have over 10 trucks right now that belong to a trucking company for stage crews, and each of the trucks are waiting months for $100,000+ in upgrades to their cooling capacity. Truckers contracted for live shows in Phoenix would complain of hot internal temperatures. But I just heard this from a guy who heard it from a another guy. I'm gonna give Aussie Pink Floyd live a listen on some planar speakers
Steve, THANK YOU for posting this!!!! I have not had the privilege of seeing Aussie Floyd live.. YET. However, we have seen Brit Floyd live 3 times now. Absolutely AMAZING!!!! I cant wait to see these guys live!! And you are right about the backup singers.. it would not be anything if they were not there. Another great video!!!!
When I was in middle and high school the Dayton (Ohio) Museum of Natural History did them in their planetarium. Floyd, Doors, and 2 or 3 other bands. Shit was pretty wild for some stoned to the bone \ sometimes tripping young people of the 90s. I think it was maybe $3 at most to get in. They did an 8,9,10,11pm show. Sometimes packed, sometimes not. I left for the mountains a while back, but I hear they have started doing them again somewhat recently.
We live in Washington state and have been blown away by this band. We have seen them 4 times. I also highly recommend if anyone has a chance to see them you will no6t be dissapointed.
What a fantastic review for the great, ‘Aussie Floyd’. I’ve only seen them about 15 times myself, but haven’t missed a Tour since that first time. I was also blown away that first time I saw them. It’s incredible just how good they are. Absolutely phenomenal, all of them. Roll on November. They are, without doubt, ‘Simply The Best’. 🎶🦘❤️🦘🎶
Seen these guys twice in the UK and they are truly awesome not only the sound but the whole visual show is amazing. This band is one of the best tribute acts around the world. Glad you enjoyed the show Steve . We've also seen The Illegal Eagles in the UK who are the tops as well.
That's really cool Steve. I thought your DJ skills would play a part and I suppose they did. You have been gifted with something that gets you to meet neat people. Love your show, don't think I've missed one for years. Keep it up.
It's kind of counterintuitive, but Pink Floyd performed All the music that became the Dark Side of the Moon album live prior to recording it in the studio. One of their innovations was to have quadrophonic sound when they performed live and not just as a studio effect added by studio engineers.
The very first concert I ever saw live was as an almost 14 y/o and it was The Dark Side of the Moon, in Paris, France 1973. It was so good I bought a ticket off a scalper in the parking lot after the show and went again the next night. FYI @Steve Lehto Vault David Gilmour will be playing in L.A. Oct 25, 29, 30 & 31 2024 as well as NYC Nov 4,5,6,9 &10 2024 . If you're interested in travelling for a Concert I'd suggest getting tickets ASAP they are almost sold out.
Me and my mate went to see the aussie pink floyd in about 93 in royal court ,just before the division bell tour started... Our little joke is we got to see them before they went massive and started playing arenas.. Nick Mason's comment was best though when asked about what he thought said while chuckling they were great but he'd heard that they'd had line up changes due to...... Artistic differences...
Saw Ausie Floyd about a year ago and it was a great show. Kanye West: My biggest regret is that I will never be able to see myself perform live. David Gilmore: Hold my stratocaster
Wow! What an awesome experience. Pink Floyd and ELO I think would be two of the greatest live performances to see and you're doing both of them this year. Lucky you.
Great review, I've seen probably a dozen Floyd tribute bands, Aussie Floyd are head and shoulders the best. Their attention to detail is beyond reproach. I've met them on a number of occaisons and seen them perform 30+ times, above all they are all thoroughly nice people too. Pleased you enjoyed the show and as a result you've gained a new subscriber to your channel.
Steve, I'm 84. I know nothing about Pink Floyd, other than the name. Want to discuss Jazz musicians of the 50"s- you're on. However, I just spent a very enjoyable 21 minutes this morning learning about a Australian band that plays music from another band and your bubbly and infectious reaction to it all. Thanks a bunch for the telling!
Glad it was such a great experience. I'm on a waitlist for next week's performance in Orlando, but so far it doesn't look like there's much of a chance of having that become a confirmed ticket and not just the waitlist. Then again, with something similar a couple of months ago the ticket got confirmed in the afternoon just a few hours before the concert so I'm hoping this one does get through.
Saw them in Denver in August 2022. Great show! In many of the songs they played quirky notes and added some effects that were not in the original albums, but somehow it worked in the songs.
Steve, I love you liked checking it out. I have worked BOH on many local shows in Detroit. Mostly things like security, vending, door, porter, film (back in the day), hype and merch. production. I am not a musician. I recommend Roadie by "Tenacious D."
I'm a huge pink Floyd fan Steve. I'm 63 and I've been to so many concerts. Only 3 groups I wish I could have seen Janice Joplin jimmy hendrix Jim Morrison.
I still have original Pink Floyd The Wall and Dark Side of the Moon on vinyl. I have the re-release of Animals on vinyl as well. I also have both original solo Roger Waters and David Gilmour albums on vinyl. What an incredible experience for you!
There are many cover bands that do a real good job, often equal to or better than the original artist. Go watch the Linda Ronstadt experience do Blue Bayou or the Jay Sekulow band do Boston's Foreplay/Long Time, or the Analogues do complete Beatles albums (in the order on the LP) ... Many cover bands are so, so very good.
There is a kiwi tribute band called The Pink Floyd Experience (also a San Diego band with same name). They recreate concerts. Seen them do The Wall and also Dark Side Of The Moon. They are endorsed by Roger Waters. I like tribute bands as they sound like the band, unlike the actual band who often sound different
Steve, I have two questions: 1) Do they play any of the songs from The Final Cut? 2) When inevitably they break up and have long standing feuds leading to court cases, which member will you legally represent?
The question I would ask. How do you guys travel on a bus for so long and come out the other side not hating each other? I seems to me that that the most important thing in road music is the fine art of forgiving the other band members annoying habits and traits, and being able let it roll off your back. I think I would be a perfect touring band member. Not to say I never get mad, but I have the ability to get over it almost instantly. And then to see the funny side of whatever happened and laugh about it. Some people do not have this ability and insted hold on tightly to every perceived slight and insult. Till it leads to an explosion. In my experience, people with the most talent are the most tightly wound. And lack an off switch that lets them relax, and are almost devoid of a sense of humor. The thing that makes me easy to get along with is probably the reason I have no musical talent.
I've seen a few good tribute bands, though not for PF. There's a good Beatles band in the Chicago area called American English that I've seen a few times and I saw a rather good Genesis tribute band that did mostly the early material from when Peter Gabriel was with them and they wore the Gabriel costumes.
Saw them a few weeks ago. The band director, Damian Darlington, and the bass player, Ian Cattel, were both in The Australian Pink Floyd Experience band until 2011. I would like to the Aussie band. Great music.
