I have seen these guys 4 times at this theather! they are amazing. My dad and me are good friends with the band. We got to see them at Carnegie hall in New York for free beceause we were invited by them and I went to the after party. Coolest thing ever! all beatles fans should see these guys. it beyond belief!!! =)
Rest in peace Gary Grimes (Paul). Gary passed away yesterday. He will be missed as a musician, founding member of 1964 and just a great father and friendly guy.
Gary went out of his way for people especially considering his demanding schedule. I ordered a CD 4-5 years ago and it didn't come. I emailed Gary and he personally Fed X'd me the next day. Not only the CD but a copy of his Starhand Visions and a promo packet with a bunch of pictures. We emailed each other often after that. He always finished his email with "Always Love and Peace" Gary. Thank you Gary for all the smiles!
I had the good fortune to see "1964" several times with Gary as "Paul" and they never disappoint. My thoughts and prayers to his family, friends, and fans.
@stratobagster The man who played Paul, Gary Grimes, was diagnosed with brain cancer the year after this video was made. He died in December, 2010. He was a good friend of mine and got such joy out of playing Paul McCartney. Gary was right-handed but learned to play left-handed so the band would look like the Beatles on stage. Many of the other Beatles tribute bands have a right-handed Paul which to me detracts from the illusion. Plus, Gary's voice was amazingly similar to McCartney's.
These guys come to philly every year and me and my buddies and girlfriend buy tickets in the last row. We just sit there, drink ourselves giddy and pretend we're seeing the real deal every year. These guys f'in rock.
these guys are really good. they sound just like them. only thing i notice wrong, and this is with all Beatles tribute bands, is that the Beatles were 20-22 yrs old ('63). thats it.
I met Gary in (of all places, Poplar Bluff, MO) what a great guy! He shook my hand and took the time to answer all my questions about their gear, PA sytem, his bass guitar etc. He is sorely missed,.
@Lancefrei : I saw this tribute group in 1997 I think. They were so good I could have sworn I was really watching the Beatles. So sad to hear about Gary Grimes Has the group disbanded since his death?
Have seen these guys live at Three Little Bakers in Delaware a few years ago. They are very good. But a much better Beatles imitator band called "The Manhoney Brothers are even better. The Mahoney's are the best, even better than the group called Rain, who is the second best I've seen live. Check out the Manoney Bos, also under longlivethebeatles. They are the longest running Beatles band, have been doing it since 1976.
Where have you been? LOL Jimmy and Greg left the group back in early summer 2006. Terry Manfredi who was the bands Sound Engineer back in the 80's is now the drummer. He subbed for Greg George back in 1988 to 92? maybe and now he's back. Tom Work was the band original Harrison and left the group in 1993? then Tom Teeley played with them till 1994 and then Jimmy Pou became the guitarist. I like Tom more then Jimmy. but thats just my opinion. They are both great Geroge Harrison performers.
