This is the jar that started this channel, so some of you will love it and some of you will hate it. Extra content, previews (f.e of a new ant colony that is coming up),.... patreon.com/Homemade_ecoystems
Before I subscribed to this channel, all of the RU-vid videos I watched about jars, and the various unusual things that are stored in jars, were unwholesome and left me deeply concerned for the future of our species. Now that you have successfully stored elements of 1000-year-old forest inside a jar for 1000 days, you should begin adding progressively smaller jarred ecosystems, like a set of nesting dolls. If everyone works together, we can get all of the world's forests into jars, and they will be easier to stack.
I randomly came across one of your videos the other day and enjoyed it but didn't think much of it at the time until I realized I park by a big patch of moss at work and now I have a bowl of rocks, a bowl of dirt, and a bowl of moss sitting on my counter practically begging to be stuffed into a jar together.
This video changed my life forever. Im deeply moved by the quality and inovation of this video. So many groundbreaking and awesome camera shots! True masterpiece, I almost cried...
I would really appreciate a in depth, detailed tutorial on creating various ecosystems (like usual forest, ant focused, water focused, mushroom focused…) I mean you kinda did one already but like more detailed. What soil to pick, what animals to avoid, how to make sure it stays humid, what plants are good, what to do if x problem occurs, etc
I love your videos so much. Your voice, your humor, the way they're put together. Then the way you explain things is amazing. These videos never fail to put a smile on my face
This channel is the reason I'm trying to get into terrarium making so this guide is really helpful!! Maybe I can finally do something with the big glass jars I have lying around
Yeah... Recently I watched one of your video by a happy little youtube accident and here we are, enjoying Bobs of all species. I didn't have any interest in any type of bug activities, but your professional stance as a certainly qualified biologist forces me to watch. Good job!
A boob moment makes even the most awesome jarred grass videos even better. Also, never stop introducing new Bobs. The Extended Bob Universe is perfection.
I'm really just here for the tiny shovel, but these update videos are pretty awesome too. Thanks for opening my eyes to a part of the world I would have never thought about otherwise!
😂 LOL "hey you clicked on it, this is on you. " I'm not even into terrariums, i just watch this channel for the dry humor and learning about creatures.
Your channel has inspired me, in my quest to have something green survive in the house (it all dies). So I snuck a jar into the cart at IKEA, bought some fish filter carbon and some house plant soil at AVEVE, then got some rocks from the garden and added some moss from the garden and a random cute small piece of weed and a very tiny amount of soil from the garden, and a small stick. It's been 24 hours now and the plant is still alive and moving, and I saw a little white worm-like creature (0,5 mm) living there - like the worms you sometimes have in your ... Anyway thanks! Curious to see where it goes.
Cant wait for the 2000 day update when we find two whole cat hairs! Also congrats on the face reveal at 4:60. Its always nice when RU-vidrs come out of their shell.
I’ve been looking for this particular dolt for months! No other “Jarsman” will do it for me. He’s not the best at anything but it’s authentic including his bad “that’s what she said” kinds of jokes A+ super fun terrarium weirdo ❤✌🏾😎
Brilliant. And great dry wit. I have the jar for a small terrarium and will order a larger jar for another. I have the soil under my porch, so away I go. Thanks.
i decided i'm going to try a terrarium next spring, not sure if it's a good idea to start it in winter, so i'm gonna wait, i'll use those months to search for the ancient forest closest to my location :D i swear your jokes are simple, but you're the funniest guy on the whole platform 😂
@@HomemadeEcosystems could i? i am more concerned about young plants having to survive through winter, my room is quite cold at night, but maybe i could give it a try :)
4:19 Woah, I think you're the first terrarium maker (is there any word for this?) that I watch on this site that has a background related to what they're doing! A lot of time they're just hobbyist. A fellow biology major here! 🙋🏻♀️
you will be the only funny Biology teacher in the world.. if you are a teacher or if you ever took teaching occupation.. by the way you are a teacher for me.. im learning and having a good time at the same time.. thanks for the content
- What do you feed them on? *- Blancmange.* - Blancmange? *- I'm sorry. I don't know why I said that. No, you don't feed them at all.* - Well, what do they live on? *- They don't. They die.* - They die? *- Well of course they do, if you don't feed them.* - I don't understand. *- You let them die, then you buy another one. It's much cheaper than feeding them and that way you have a constant variety of little companions.* _A conversation between two famous biologists._
This is really interesting video of just some boring wet dirt, stones and a bit green stuff with bobs living there. But you make this so fun to watch with your monotone voice.. Congrats, you are the very first channel that actually have got me to turn on a notification bell... 🎉🥳
Idk what it is, but there is something interesting about jars of dirt.... kinda makes me wanna set one these up with my oldest son, be a cool project and help him learn about our world.
You're killing me mate. I have been watching too many if your videos and have started beginning all of my statements with "as a biologist". I'm not a biologist though, but I can confirm that that is indeed a plant... and green,
This is gonna be out of place, but that's alot like the end video suggestion. If theres any way to get suggested videos to be ant colony conductive recordings that would help.
