I love Rosalia but this is horrible. This comes off as a cheap Lana Del Rey cover. The captioned lyrics aren't even correct. Listen to the Bonnie Prince Billy or Johhny Cash versions instead.
This is so not close to Lana Del Rey, lol. This version actually extremely captures the lyrics perfectly, even though the captioned lyrics are wrong. It's a song about being happy on the outside but really hoping that your friend is able to see that deep down, you are terribly depressed. In the original production of the song, it flaunts an upbeat rhythm and style to address that "cover up" of happiness. If you listen to the 2012 remake of the song by Bonnie Prince Billy, its actually very similar to this version, becoming no longer a cover up, but a direct outcry for help. Rosalia covers it extraordinarily, the 2012 version, of course. The 1999 version is still great, but in its own way. I'd like to beg that 1999 and 2012 are two different songs, with the same lyrics, honestly.
