When Shaye (of The Elliott Homestead) asked me to find her some new antiques for her home, I couldn't say no! Watch as I go find some Door County antiques to surprise her with for the autumn ahead. It's not antique shopping in Paris (yet!) but it sure was fun so come antique shopping with me!
This was an antique shopping haul and hopefully the first of many. As mentioned in the Old World Farmhouse Tour, the west coast doesn't have near the antiques we have at our fingertips here in the Midwest and with Door County being a tourist destination, we have TONS of antique shops. A girl could lose her mind. So, while this wasn't a "thrift with me" challenge, I had a budget and a mission. Today I decided to watch your old videos from 6 years ago. My favorite one was when you moved to Door County. You were all so excited. Loved when you said, God please let me get old in this home. You sure have come a long way since then. It was great to see the children when they were so small. I really liked how you had your previous home decorate also. So happy for your family that, it has all worked out so wonderful for you.

Today I was thrift shopping for an an antique table for my conversion van; that I happen to be living out of. At the second thrift store- the surprise of a wonderful miracle happened. God had arranged (behind my back) for me to be looking at furniture because two people in my family came in and asked me if I had picked anything out - that they would get it for me, AND, they had rented a huge truck to haul it to storage until I found a place. They really want me out of the cold- this Minnesota winter! I had seen a great table and chairs, so, in the truck they went! The first store had many items of interest- great quality, some minor work to restore (will keep me busy this winter), and much much cheaper- so, we all drove to that one and I pretty much got a whole houseful/ apartment of furniture for very low cost! They told me they have a queen sized mattress for the bed...will fit the nice wooden bed found for only $29..headboard and footboard. I’m thrilled!! Thank you, Heavenly Father!!!

Angela you make a wonderful best friend. I know the excitement of picking all this out was so fun. And then to find out how she liked it all. You want them to love it all. It is true about things you get for your home from friends and family. Every time you go into the room that person is remembered. One of my best friends was just killed riding her bike. @3:40ish Those tea towels! Reminds me of my maternal grandparents. They would make and send us those tea towels with the sweet bedressed ladies wearing bonnets baking or gardening -- I just loved looking at them! They made doing dishes bearable!😍😂😉

Absolutely love the flower frog, would love to find one that’s a candle holder too like the one you found. You don’t find them so much in the UK. What beautiful items you chose. Sorry that some broke during shipping. I was heartbroken over the lamp. Everything was a great find. My favorite was the light picture that had green in them and she added above the green coat rack.

My tip on packing glass & breakable.My husband worked & owned fedex trucks for 35 yrs. Pack them in bubble wrap then stuff pillows & clothes as add cusion... Double protection & awesome antic's will never break durning shipping . Best of luck...

I remember the box I made up for you and your family ! It was so fun to pass along treasures that I had collected and loved! Hunting for pieces of furniture and one of a kind items are still a favorite pastime that I love to do. I have retired from being a vendor in a vintage store and have passed along almost all of my inventory. I will always enjoy the hunt for unique and vintage finds , and enjoyed immensely watching you on your hunt for treasures! You could show more of you thrifting as I know many others who’d love to one go along on your antique shopping!

Oh gosh, I’m wanting to go antiques shopping with you!!! 😍 A few years ago we we went to Michigan for one of my hubby’s bucket list items (some type of fishing 🎣) Anyway we were loving the antiques there and in Wisconsin. We would love to go back in that area, such beautiful scenery!! What a creative collaborative episode! and you two ladies have a lovely friendship that is so inspiring. I was a fan of "Shabby Chic" look and used to love go to antique shops and at one point collected Salt dishes with tiny spoons. Also, I once had a lovely vintage open arm chair that I lived with for so many years. Then, my taste gradually shifted over to simpler, cleaner, modern. But watching this video, it made me want to revisit those old days and see what I extract from the experience ;-) Thanks again for a wonderful contents you create! I did watch this video and enjoyed it. I love both this channel and The Elliot Homestead. Both were great videos. I just really don't like the Premiere videos coming into my list and then not being watchable at that time. It's a new function and good on Angela for trying it. I'm just not a fan of it. I'll still watch the videos eventually. :)

Wonderful picks! You are a good friend : ) Shaye was able to make so many changes for Fall. Your trip gave me inspiration to check out a few places. Thank you for the nice videos! We homeschooled in the 90's. No book reports😁 Tons of books. Anno math, Safari Grammer, Eloise, old Readers Digest Best in Children's books. Piano, violin, art lessons, scouts. Library visits. Do you have a local library? Left NYS because of excessive testing. No testing (portfolio) in VA. Returned to NYS for college, 2 degrees. They grow up so fast and all those years were shared and precious. Your children are happy.
