From a distance I've thought to myself that I do not understand shiny hunting at all. Upon more direct exposure I must confess that I do not understand shiny hunting at all.
It certainly can be. I think I'd rather shiny hunt than practice for a speedrun, however, because there's no practice involved. Remembering and properly executing everything over an hour or longer is intimidating to me, and I don't think I'd want to do that.
