Been using the faderport just over a year now,I have the faderport 16 and it is truly a game changer. The work flow is fantastic, the feel of the faders are old school great along with the automation .I also use studio one 6 combined with a touch screen monitor on a swivel stand and I,m in mixing heaven.I have been recording in big and home studios for over 40 years now and this faderport will diffidently minimize your use of the mouse in your recording and mixing.
hey mate! thanks for the informations. Background Music is very loud and the subtitles you are sometimes visualizing do not help to understand you better or make the video better. Either subtitle evrrything or the Things you dont say. Confused US a lot.
For sure. I was spoiled early when I was learning on an SSL as well as a Neve console. It may be the beyond poor man's version in comparison... But I just want to touch stuff. lol
Don't have one but thinking about getting one but with the upgrades....well I think FaderPort 16 really needs an overhaul now. It is missing a ”Touch Screen” like StudioLive consoles. At least 'one' 5-6 inch touch screen that can show the physical silicon buttons on the onscreen touchscreen would be an amazing addition. You can take my mouse away but give me touch controls then. Anything with TOUCH-control interface would be a win win situation to this product.
Man, they’re both so good. You can’t go wrong with either. The X touch has more features, but the Faderport is more affordable, if I remember correctly. I will say that I don’t know anyone who regrets getting the X Touch.
I own the Faderport 8, and wish I would have opted for the x-Touch instead. FP has only one rotary encoder for pan, which is limiting and that single encoder is doing 8 times the work, meaning it will die quicker. My decision to grab the Faderport over the x-Touch was largely based on the eight LCD scribble strips, but they have really limited viewing angles and show little information unless you are using Studio One. Having said that, the build quality is really nice and it has enough going for it that I haven't enough reason to replace it.
Just purchased the iostation 24c. I have limited space. First impressions. Really nice. I think the headphone amp could have been hotter. A separate control for phantom power on each input would have been a nice touch. Enjoyed your review!
the ironny is that i use an akai x presonus set up. i use the force for arranging in combo with the fader port 8, and i use the mpc live 2 for drumbs and a iostation24 as my master fader an input amp. Im glad others think the same way i do.
Good video but the music vibe and volume is not working for me, a little lower and other style or song would work better. But loved your review and I'm adding the FP16 to my cart after this video. Thanks for the hard work to make this for us.
Making music for a month now with studio one, I am looking for something allowing me to get controls on dynamics, expression, vibrato, with faders to improve my music. Using studio one, I really think that this 8 ports is what I need to improve my workflow and get better control. Tell me : if I have 20 tracks , and deal with sound balance for the 20 tracks, I am not stuck with 8 tracks max right ? I can duplicate the 8 ports like nearly infinitely ? Thx Ps : what about the free plugins ? Are they good ... ?
Yo. It definitely works for as many tracks as you have in the session. It just keeps cycling through. Because the faders are motorized they just shift into their new positions as you scroll through your channels. :) As for the free plugins. They’re really awesome for anyone new to music production. I haven’t personally found much use for them, but I also have hundreds of plugins they have to compete with lol.
Haha same. When I first started using that app, like everyone out there… I went nuts with it. I quickly learned to use it sparingly if at all. Lol. It’s strange. When editing it doesn’t bother the same way, probably just because we don’t see the flow of things like the viewer does… but when I watched it back I wanted to scream lol. Ah well, with a video every week we just learn from it and adjust. :)
I honestly thought this look brilliant. I tried it in cubase and had it working in the mixer on cubase. Second time it just didnt work. I was baffled with it. I feel like iv wasted my money. I wish i would have sent it back but stuck with it now 😕
Bummer! It was easy on my end, but I’m a Logic user. I can’t speak to Cubase difficulties. @jefgibbons would be a great person to ask for connecting hardware in Cubase. I’m sure he has a video on that, since he has a ton of Cubase videos :)
Can someone please point me at a resource that gives the physical dimensions of the Faderport range? It seems unbelievable, but I haven't been able to find these on the Presonus web site. It's especially important information for a product that people may or may not have room for on a desk, so I find it quite baffling that I couldn't find it. Maybe I missed it somehow?
Yo :) It’s on the Sweetwater pages that I linked in the description. The Faderport 8, which I have 12 inches wide and about 13” deep. It’s also about 2 1/4 inch tall. :)
@@BeauTylerMakesMusic Great stuff - thank you so much! I wonder why it's not on the Presonus product page? It wasn't even in the MANUAL, as far as I could tell, which is crazy!
That’s great to hear! I love mine! My only regret is that I don’t have the 16 channel. But I’m also an addicted gear buyer and I don’t have space for it. 😂
For real. It would be super handy with a Maschine, because then we wouldn't have to ditch whatever we were viewing to accesses the mixer page. I've always wished they came out with a Maschine Mixer device similar to the format of the Maschine Jam, but I guess that would probably be way too niche to sell. A boy can dream.
it does! They added a midi mode a while back. Set up your external hardware properly in the preferences, and you'll be able to midi map to the external since using the FP MIDI MODE device. Might need to resort to the manual for setting up external synths and control surfaces, and also control link.
I was just looking at a faderfox EC4 & PC12 for added effects…and the faderport was mixed in somewhere and I thought it was wild you did a random video on it
@@BeauTylerMakesMusic I took the plunge and bought Faderport 16, and it works fine. There are a few weird bits like the click does not work as a click in A12. However i am very pleased with my purchase and it is making me think about buying studio one to get all the features. It is difficult to go out and buy another DAW when I have invested heavily in Live. Hmmm
I know exactly what you mean. When you spend so much time mastering a DAW it’s really Hard to think about somewhat starting over with a new one. I will say, though, that while PreSonus hasn’t become my main DAW, mainly because the new Logic update for Logic 11 was free and amazing, StudioOne was super easy to get the hang of (and it has settings to keep keyboard shortcuts from other DAWs you’re used to). Either way, thanks so much for watching , homie.
No probs dude. Think i will stay with Live for now as all works great anyway. I'm also using a Launch Control XL to add an extra 8 channels. I use these 8 for my drums routing BFD3 to them. So working with with 24 channels is not bad for under £800. Only problem is that the Launch Control XL does not have motorised faders. However i can assign any of it's buttons to useful midi functions to improve workflow. So i am pleased with the setup and the Faderport 16 has changed my life. :)
I use my faderport1 every damn day, quicker workflow and the actual feel of knobs, faders instead of mousing all the time is dope, plus that foot switch is the bees knees for what I do as a solo artist, especially on drums.Maybe next yr. I'll pick up the faderport 8.
I second the footswitch! Great for punching in as a solo recording drummer. Also, there is an iPad app that controls most basic functions as well. Sometimes I put the iPad on a stand next to the kit to record. But if you need to punch in parts, the footswitch is hard to beat.
