I am glad that you liked my comment cause i really mean it. Guru is right i do not know you but all of us that we watch the show associate you with our "relaxing" time during the day. The time that we deal with our hobby that make us happy and bring out the kid in us. And most of the times people are more genuine during hobby time compared with the "real" life. Anyway again, thanks and greetings from Greece

A good grading lesson. Picked up a detective 359 for 450$ at an LCS in Kentucky on my way home to VA. After looking at it figured it could be a 6-7. I had been hunting it for a year. I get home and take to my LCS and get him to submit it to cgc. Book comes back I rush to LCS and it came back as a .5 missing centerfold. In my excitement that I found the book I didn’t bother to take it out of the bag and board. Just bought it and continued home.

Little anecdote about Overstreet... I sent in a bob overstreet signed NM 1st edition/1st print "white" cover proof to Heritage last year alongside a fine condition 1st print/1st edition of the OCBPG. They bundled them together and finally got around to getting them into an auction a few months ago. They described the proof as a signed cover proof of the 2021 reprint.. Uh, no it isn't!! Had them pull the auction and asked them to return the the cover proof and just sell the guide. They sold the guide in the next auction for around $1200, but they FORGOT to take the coverproof out of the bag. Argh! FYI, those signed cover proofs that float around are THE ACTUAL covers used on those guides back then. You can can replace the cover without needing to trim it. I know this, because I've done it with the blue 2nd print 1st edition copy. Their resolution, was to pay me what I paid for the cover proof. Well, gee, great. Needless to say, very disappointed with that, but what the hell am I supposed to do about it? Whoever bought that guide who got the signed cover proof along with it could easily swap the covers and resubmit, get a 9.0+ grade on the guide and pocket who knows how many thousands of bucks given the anniversary of the guide plus the current bubble.

I’ve been collecting Danny Ketch Ghost Rider and I think his run is so underrated for being a great introduction to the other Marvel runs of the 90s. From Xmen to Moon Knight, issue 1-30 has over a dozen full story appearances of huge marvel greats. I highly recommend them and they’re super cheap.

Really interesting show guys thanks for putting in time n effort. I over the last year have sold some comics although loved them they did not really mean anything to me I was lucky and never paid more than a fiver and to sell them for a lot more over the Co-Vid period for a helping hand meant a lot. I feel no regret about the price of them now for me to take a fiver comic and sell for £50-£100 pounds great buzz. Shall always try to keep Percy collection though could be tears in there. I was 1:27:33 into this episode before you said the THEN current year and I realized this episode was A YEAR OLD. But anyway...you guys we discussing the very 1st Overstreet Price Guide from 1971 from whence you quoted the THEN-price for an FF #1 @ $30. $30!! Only being 1 year old in 1971 I couldn't have taken advantage of that. BUT, I gotta say, when I first started going to dedicated comic book shops as a teen in 80's, I thought the several hundred dollar price-tag for some of the Blue-chip Marvels on the wall (FF #1, Avengers #1, Amazing Fantasy #15, Amazing Spider-Man #1, Tales of Suspense #whatever, Tales to Astonish #whatever), we're ASTRONOMICAL compared to my teenage economics. If I knew then, what I know now...I would have gladly blown whole paychecks (minimum wage was still $3.35/hr during the years I was 16 - 18) to secure some Golden and Silver age Blue-chip goodness.

The real questions are - after you sold an item: 1. Did you need the money at the time? If so, you did the right thing. Collectibles really pull their weight when they are there to get you through bad financial situations....and IF they do that, then that is fantastic and NEVER look back. 2.Did you make money on the deal? If so, don't complain....and don't look back. 3.WHAT did you do with the money? If you re-invested it back into your hobby for more desirable items (at the time) - then hey - you did the right thing. If you pissed it away....well, then yeah...you screwed up and you SHOULD feel bad. If you used it to ELIMINATE DEBT in your life - that is a great thing. I used the money I made from selling my old toys to pay OFF MY HOUSE....early (like ONLY in 11 years I had it paid off)..thereby freeing myself from "mortgage slavery".... Years later when I got laid off, my house was paid so I had little to no worries... 4. Always remember....you can't keep everything. 5. Odd are selling an item is NOT your worst mistake.....There's an old saying, "I never regret what I bought...but I sure as hell regret what I DIDN'T buy." Not buying when a great opportunity comes your way....is often WORSE than selling that object that maybe you should have kept.

The comics I regret unloading the most were multiple copies of Amazing Spider-Man 361 in the 90's. I thought Carnage sucked and was cheap Venom Rip off. I was trading them one for one, for issues that I vividly remember like X-Men 210, Spider-Man #1 Gold Edition and Punisher War Journal . I sold multiple copies for $5 to $10 and thinking the people buying then were idiots. I never thought of holding back a couple of issues for myself. I guess at the end I was the idiot. FYI, I still think Carnage sucks and is a cheap Venom Rip off, but then again I don't like TMNT either and I could have ownedthe entire early run off the rack. Moral to the story, I need to start specking on everything I think sucks 🤣🤣🤣

The family would have done better in the long run by protecting this collection in a trust, then taking it on a museum tour. The key runs could have been kept together, and the rest could have paid off initial startup cost to get the project off the ground. I'm glad the family went to Heritage and it wasn't cherry picked by scabs. However, this is a once in a lifetime comic collection that defines comics in US history. A museum tour would have not only benefited the family and society. I can't imagine the 1099 and the tax bill owed when all is said and done. The Promise is broken.

$3 for 100 bags in 1971 could buy 20 comics, I would have thought that price was crazy back then.

Minimum wage was $1.60 so you would have had to work 2 hours back then to buy 100 bags. Imagine 100 bags today for $30!
