As someone who follows a lot of fashion influencers, who are not black, so many of them go instore and if they like something they get it. a lot of times they even get offered things without asking but it's never a problem. Most comments speak on how blessed they are, how graceful and inspiring. This whole Hermes conversation is just so telling omg, I personally like the content you put out. Its so refreshing to see a black African women going to the shows and entering these spaces. As someone who hopes to one day break into these same spaces, I just really appreciate what you are doing.

Totally understood everything you were saying in relation to black women elevating. Don't hate on a black woman who has worked hard and can now buy expensive things while still being financially responsible. Your budget is not everyone's budget and there's nothing wrong with that. Learn to respect your fellow black woman and congratulate her win!

Hi beloved. I'm a Palestinian woman with a black maternal great grandmother. Yes, many of us have black ancestors. I used to live in Sweden. I look like many different ethnicities all at once. Some say I look like a light skinned Ethiopian habesha woman. Since some people judge us by the way God made our image, I get judged and loved depending on what people see in me more importantly how they react to the visual aspect of my God given look. Since I started to elevate in my life many of my former Swedish associates from many different backgrounds made passive aggressive remarks and gossiped, speculating on how I have accumulated skills, property and a healthy glow etc. Because apparently someone like me can only fit in a box of poverty, warstriken trauma and constant struggle. Envy is a disease and I hope they heal. Judge us by our fruits, not by the way God made our face and body. And hey, if the eyes look crazy just remember the eyes are the lamp of the body and if the body is filled with sin, it will reflect in their eyes. For the record those associates have been long cut off. Protect yourself. Pray for your enemies and God bless you endlessly ❤

YESSSSS!!!!! I love that you gave this PSA, my husband and I really are in our elevate and luxury era. We be shopping, established ourselves with Hermes, to play the long game. One day I'll get my Kelly. I began posting my luxury items on my personal socials just so I can be transparent and people dont be like, "oh you got money???" No, I worked and saved, then bought what I wanted instead of impulse buying something cheap.

12:15 that part. A lot of black people unfortunately don’t believe they can have luxury (many reasons for this, some very deep and understandable ) but because people don’t feel they can have it, it can make them mad when they see someone that looks like them confidently obtaining what they don’t feel capable of having. I think people need to learn to spot their own jealousy and ask themselves “why does this make me mad enough to comment something negative?” It inspires me to see successful black women but I know that is because I truly believe that I can obtain my own version of success. It may not be on the exact same scale but I’m okay with that too. I’m glad you aren’t shrinking to make other people more comfortable. The more this becomes the norm the easier it will be for people to adjust their thinking. Also the more opportunities people have for wealth will also decrease this jealousy but now we’re getting deep lol

People have issues and they feel better when they can have a happy successful person ruminating and questioning their reality. Especially when you’re of an identity that society says is low-value, deserving of crumbs at best & who ought to be entirely self-sacrificing. Again, People. Have. Issues. For anyone looking to elevate or seem a bit more elevated: the key is just to act like you have every right to be there (because you do). I’m always really confused when I shop with friends and they make a huge deal about me taking free samples or spraying perfumes or trying on bags and clothes without buying anything or even if I go in there in normal clothes or just touch stuff or tell them my budget and ask for something within that range. The key is just acting normal, not acting stereotypically rich and being silly and stressed.

Jackie, you're absolutely correct. A lot of people talk about black women elevating but when they actually see it or experience it, they're taken aback! They rub their eyes, as if to say this can't be real! They're surprised and they say super ignorant things. Why even comment on the bag, if you don't know what it's actually worth? Surely if you did, you wouldn't refer to it as crumbs. This happens often and it is part of a bigger conversation. A conversation that needs to take place continuously. And yes, people will be uncomfortable but that's life. How comfortable is it for me when I walk into Tiffany's (for example) with a few girl friends and the Caucasians are catered to immediately? Thank you for discussing this because there's always someone out there who will make an assumption about a brown girl. No matter how elegantly you're dressed. By the way, just want to mention, I've seen this done by all ethnicities, not just white people!

YAY another Jackie video!! Girllll. The brown looks you've been wearing have been FIRE, absolutely love it, right up my alley, love neutral looks. Last year i went to Europe, no bags, this year I went to Europe, no bags, when my suitcase finally showed up, damaged... Like.... Y? I wouldn't expect this to happen to business class customers though, so upsetting. Thankfully I always have a carry on (people are always telling me to drop the carry on, but this has happened to me several times), so I had clothes until I got my suitcase like 3 days later. And yes this bigger than Hermès, what I've noticed is that people don't like it when they believe you're doing better than them. period, no matter the race, but especially when you're a woman of color. I experienced this as a kid and on some level still do, because people thought I had "better opportunities" than them because who my mom married. Many people are envious and jealous and the internet has made it easy for them to project that onto others.
