I dare say if everyone heard the organ play like this when they sang a hymn, we'd still have organs in church! It's our fault - we got lazy and then church, the choir, the hymns got real, real boring of all a sudden. Of course we were replaced!!
I sing the mighty pow’r of God, that made the mountains rise, That spread the flowing seas abroad, and built the lofty skies. I sing the wisdom that ordained the sun to rule the day; The moon shines full at His command, and all the stars obey.I sing the goodness of the Lord, who filled the earth with food, Who formed the creatures through the Word, and then pronounced them good. Lord, how Thy wonders are displayed, where’er I turn my eye, If I survey the ground I tread, or gaze upon the sky. There’s not a plant or flow’r below, but makes Thy glories known, And clouds arise, and tempests blow, by order from Thy throne; While all that borrows life from Thee is ever in Thy care; And everywhere that we can be, Thou, God, art present there. Love the choir , but the most - organist !!! The way he plays, his harmonization, registration, so reach and exuberant, and without any showman’ tricks, but very humble and honest.
I love the kids reaction when you use the Zimbelstern :-) Good job getting them exposed to good Hymns and Church Music, and the Organ. Unlike most other Churches today!
@holyholyholyorgankid Thanks. The adults are the same too. They light up whenever the bells are turned on. There's a video posted from Christmas for Joy to the World where I used the Zimbelstern and chimes at the same time. The choir was simply elated.
@Chesterbarnes1 I remember Grandpa letting me come up to choir loft from time to time when he would sing for Saturday Mass. I was the same way though most times, he made me act as I would downstairs and even sing with the choir :)
Love your Choir, love the Organist's playing style, and the Choir Director-very expressive! Just great! Do you still post, or are you still at St. Michael? I miss your postings!!!!!!!!
Your Music, organist, chorus, leader---all inspire me! I write this 9 years after you posted it, and haven't seen any postings since. Are you all still together as a "team" of Choir and Organ? It's so beautiful.
@Chesterbarnes1 I usually bring a couple of my kids with me when I play. We're still working on getting them to pay as good attention from the loft as from down in front. They enjoy coming, but, it's always after Mass when I watch the video that I see what they were really doing. :)
Wasn’t this lady conducting a song to the Virgin Mary on a previous video. I’m so glad that the “ Queen of heaven “ is allowing Jesus to share the platform with her. Wake up Roman Catholic brothers and sisters and stick with the Bible.
