I can't even imagine giving up my grail GWF-1000 Frogman. After dreaming about it for over 12 years I finally got it at a discounted price well below the retail price from Japan......but it took like 3 months to get to me because of the Christmas holiday rush during the height of covid epidemic.
The GW-8200 series, is the best looking digital Frogman, in my opinion. That gold and black 8230 looks fantastic. You’re right - it’s hard to pull off the GWF-1000 if you have smaller wrists. Nothing beats a screw-back case! Awesome watch!
The band still protrudes quite a bit in both sides, but it is normal - it supposed to be worn over a wet suit, and Casio decided to make it that way (as is the case with most if not all G-Shocks that have a semi-integrated band that actually serves a protective function).
I've had almost every generation of the Frogman and I have the same problem, there're gaps on the sides, my wrist is similar to yours, 6.75". The one that fits me best is the DW-6300, maybe you should consider it now that you can find aftermarket bezels. Anyway that anniversary edition is very nice and doesn't look excessive on your wrist either, a little bit big only.
There is a Mudman with its key feature to be built like a tank for obstacle runners I guess. The Rangeman, with the digital compas and altimeter to find your way in the field.(for hikers, hunters, soldiers) And then the Frogman, with ehm timers...¿ The only real Frogman for me is the one with the depth meter. If you create watches with a filosophy to have special features for a dedicated group of people, divers need a depthgauge. So the majority of Frogmans are just digital watches with a pretty high markup.
The best dive watch out there just might be the legendary Citizen JP2000-08e, the first watch with an electric depth gauge. It is old school, but it is a serious tool watch for scuba and free divers. It displays your current and max. depth, and your dive time. It has 3 dive alarms: time exceeded, max. depth exceeded, safe ascent rate exceeded. It saves the following data for each of your last 4 dives: Date, Start Time, Max. Depth, Dive Duration. It is a certified dive watch to 200 meters. It has bright, long lasting lume on the hands and indexes and a 60 position, unidirectional bezel with clicks so solid it can be set in the dark, just by counting the clicks.. It comes with either a rubber strap or a stainless steel bracelet with an 8 position quick adjust clasp. Mine ran 9 seconds fast for the entire year last year. This year it looks like it will come in at 15 seconds fast for the year. If you want a real divers tool watch, at around $440.00 USD this one should be on your list of options. The features it has are far more useful for divers than the features it lacks. Plus, it is a legendary watch, with a long history of use by military and professional divers. www.hodinkee.com/articles/citizen-aqualand-birth-of-a-legend-end-of-an-era
I cant believe you've sold the GWF-1000, I'm losing a bit of weight at the moment but only lose a little from the wrist overall. My wrist is around 7.5 inch so I can normally carry the larger watches. I'm glad for you getting this 30th Ann Frogman but that backlight is a deal breaker for me, I hate the mascots in the backlight.
Almost perfect specs, MB6 would be nice. And I would be so happy if they charged 100-150 more and gave it a sapphire crystal. I'm overpaying on the grey market anyways because of availability of all these limited editions.
I completely understand this move. I have a 19-19.5 cm wrist and still thought the gwf1000 was too much. It isn't to big, the case is slightly larger but the GW-8230 or 8200 has the same lug to lug, because the strap doesnt curve as heavily as on the GWF1000. I love the GWF1000, but it ultimately felt too much of an in-between watch. I regeret not buying the GWF d1000, which would be much more suitable for actual divers. The 8230/8200 is a fashion watch, in the sense that it's form above function. It will not be worn by any professional divers or recreational scuba divers, not even as a backup. I prefer colourful G shocks, so I got the red GW-8230NT and the yellow GW-8100JR. I haven't worn any other watch since I got them, they have all the traits that make a great G shock, including how comfortable it is to wear. I simply forget I'm wearing it, have forgotten to take it off at night multiple times, that's how light it is.
@@WatchGeekThat’s actually incorrect in regards to the Frogman model. Casio’s own website states “The watch satisfies ISO standards for water resistance, including button operability underwater, enabling its use for diving.”
No depth meter, just dive time log. I believe only the GWF-D1000 has the depth meter but its a monster and theres are much better sized for smaller wrists.
