Some boys are just full of so much spirit! Even my gelding, Smarty Pants, always had the bossy I'm going to mess with you constantly mentality, but I think it was because he loved the panicked attention lol. He was always fun to work with once I got to like 16-17 and could fully roll with his punches, and stallions can definitely go one way or another. Our Canadian was such a doll, but he'd get pushy when the mares were in season, and I'd just shove him back! Biting and rearing is harder to deal with but definitely breakable ♡ I'd have taken him in a heartbeat if I still had the farm!

If he had been gelded soon after purchase, he would have likely worked out fine forever, and this could have been a "happily ever after" story. Most stallions are difficult, aggressive, and unpredictable just by of their purpose in nature-to dominate and reproduce. There is a reason only adults are allowed to ride or exhibit them at horse shows (though some adults are more clueless than older teenagers with years of horse experience). But a stallion is nothing to play with. If you get another young male horse, have it gelded. Or buy an experienced barrel horse so you can learn the sport from the horse instead of both trying to learn together, which can be frustrating for both of you. Like jumping horses know their job and you get confidence from trusting them as you learn and they forgive your mistakes.
