Ok Im gonna be the woman to kinda spill some truth beans here. Your Alexa Mini LF will not give you the epitome you think it will. Yes, if you got the extra cash to burn, great. But having an arri means nothing. There are people making visuals that resemble arri on a camera fraction of that cost. Watch Tangerine from 2015 and realize what makes it special and learn. Cause it's actually about the lighting and set design and post production, that's where that look really comes from. I dare anyone here in comments to tell me any different and prove it.
@@jazzampa that's nice. It means you get it, you do. But sadly, this is what youtube has done to people. Gear, gear, gear.. They gotta understand this. They don't know this. It's like hey let's get the best camera whatever hollywood biggies shoot with and then our things gonna look just as good as them, right? No, guys it's not how it works. Y'all are missing some crucial bits here about what brings that look. Lemme tell ya camera is not at the very top of that list
Well… sort of. Gear doesn’t matter to a certain extent. For my journey I used BM cameras for 4 years and built a solid ass reel and client base. But when I finally got into agency work, they always asked if I had either a Sony, RED, or Arri. Agencies, especially if you aren’t in control of the editing/post work, want codecs and name brands they are familiar with. So yeah you can make amazing work and live a great financially thriving life with cameras way less expensive but it depends on the market and industry you want to go into that makes you consider other options as an owner/operator. But if you’re out here thinking getting a red or arri will get you work just because you have it? You’ll be sorely mistaken. Around 50k plus in pain. Lol
You could also upgrade with the ARRI Mini LF Lightweight Expansion Set which lends some of the bits and pieces from the Alexa 35 (and their lightweight kit). But at the end of the day you are probably only shaving off some hundreds of grams. Another option is to look at Ignite Digi from Australia that have some really nice and small accessories to build your camera.
I think the Germans call it “are-ree” so saying it “are-e” is closer than “air-e” IMHO, I’m a no body. I just had an iPhone for research is the extent of it.
