I thought this video was going to be a complete joke, but it was the most honest and humble youtube video I think I've ever seen. How is it possible for Davie to make us like him more??
Davie: "I'm going to be my normal self for the first time on youtube" Also Davie: "My uncle once told me - "With great power comes great responsibility""
man, I have true respect for you even though you have already reached over 12 million subscribers by the time I have sent this comment I would like you to know, that no matter how much hate, failiure or pain. we would always support your content no pressure, will be placed on you from me love your music and I wish you the best in your career... love you man
A battleship is a large armored warship with a main battery consisting of large caliber guns. It dominated naval warfare in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The term battleship came into use in the late 1880s to describe a type of ironclad warship, now referred to by historians as pre-dreadnought battleships. In 1906, the commissioning of HMS Dreadnought into the United Kingdom's Royal Navy heralded a revolution in the field of battleship design. Subsequent battleship designs, influenced by HMS Dreadnought, were referred to as "dreadnoughts", though the term eventually became obsolete as dreadnoughts became the only type of battleship in common use. Battleships were a symbol of naval dominance and national might, and for decades the battleship was a major factor in both diplomacy and military strategy. A global arms race in battleship construction began in Europe in the 1890s and culminated at the decisive Battle of Tsushima in 1905, the outcome of which significantly influenced the design of HMS Dreadnought. The launch of Dreadnought in 1906 commenced a new naval arms race. Three major fleet actions between steel battleships took place: the long-range gunnery duel at the Battle of the Yellow Sea in 1904, the decisive Battle of Tsushima in 1905 (both during the Russo-Japanese War) and the inconclusive Battle of Jutland in 1916, during the First World War. Jutland was the largest naval battle and the only full-scale clash of dreadnoughts of the war, and it was the last major battle in naval history fought primarily by battleships. The Naval Treaties of the 1920s and 1930s limited the number of battleships, though technical innovation in battleship design continued. Both the Allied and Axis powers built battleships during World War II, though the increasing importance of the aircraft carrier meant that the battleship played a less important role than had been expected in that conflict. The value of the battleship has been questioned, even during their heyday. There were few of the decisive fleet battles that battleship proponents expected and used to justify the vast resources spent on building battlefleets. Even in spite of their huge firepower and protection, battleships were increasingly vulnerable to much smaller and relatively inexpensive weapons: initially the torpedo and the naval mine, and later aircraft and the guided missile. The growing range of naval engagements led to the aircraft carrier replacing the battleship as the leading capital ship during World War II, with the last battleship to be launched being HMS Vanguard in 1944. Four battleships were retained by the United States Navy until the end of the Cold War for fire support purposes and were last used in combat during the Gulf War in 1991. The last battleships were struck from the U.S. Naval Vessel Register in the 2000s. Many World War II-era battleships remain in use today as museum ships.
in all seriousness davie, i think RU-vid needs more ppl like you who are honest and humble about their emotions. it’s truly so sweet to see heartwarming (and slightly sad, sniffle sniffle) vids like this one who expose the unseen life of a big RU-vidr. thank u so much for bringing more positivity into everyone’s lives and for showing me the true potential of bass. so from the bottom of my heart, thank you 🥲
An unkindness always says more about the person delivering it than about the person it targets. "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent" --Eleanor Roosevelt
Man, thank you for being an emotionally available role model for a minute. It is needed, ESPECIALLY on youtube! I am going to share this with my son, and my fb feed. I love playing bass, and I too want all people to play bass (and drums, and sing, and dance) Big respect, my friend! Also one day, I will battle you. SLAP!
Your sense of humor is perfect. That dry, arrogant sarcasm is all for entertainment purposes. Those who can't see past that don't understand that you clearly respect the bass players who are subject in many videos. You've given me much joy since I stumbled upon your content. I can only imagine that you have some outtakes of you just bursting into spontaneous laughter while making your videos. Again, that sense of humor is great! I love it. Don't stop. Keep....SLAPping!!! World class man!!!
Just got around to seeing this one, so a little late I know, but... Davie, I don't play bass. I have never really had interest in playing bass (horrifying, I know). But a couple years ago when I was going through a very very dark chapter in my own life, I accidentally watched one of your videos (sorry, I don't remember which one). Your sense of humor and clear passion for your craft was very endearing to me during that time. I subscribed and have been watching your videos when the algorithm feeds them to me ever since. I greatly enjoy what you've done, and what you continue to do (love the Violin rivalry, especially as I am learning violin myself). Thanks for sharing so much with us. Keep slapping!
I'm just watched this at your 12.4 million subs and I'm glad you came out from your decrease in numbers that you showed. I love watching you play the bass. Love the jokes and you're personality. Keep making people smile bro. ❤️ 🎸
One of the biggest things that keeps me watching your videos is how you will say something that's not very serious or joking, but you have this sad emotional music that makes it feel meaningful and it cracks me up. You are an inspiration as a bass player and a content creator, and it's good to see you doing something you love even though there are jealous people who want to drag your name through the mud. Keep doing what you're doing! Your videos have helped me through depressing times, where all I had for comfort were youtubers who just wanted to spread laughter and joy.
@@adino20 dude if you don’t like the videos don’t watch em, you don’t have to go outta your way and hate. The world has enough negativity already, calm tf down
Your videos NEVER cease to entertain me Davie, and seeing more of your personhood exposed makes me happy. It's like having this funny friend you don't know so well, then you finally spend time with them one-on-one, get to know them. You're a treasure.
I have watched your videos and been a subscriber for a quite a while now. As you talked in this video, I realized that part of what I like so much about your channel is that the character you play is fun and interesting, but also, when you are responding to other bass players, you are kind and encouraging, as well as funny. I'm a mental health therapist and I agree that life includes down times, hard times, all of the times (yes. I tell very bad jokes). I have worked with people dealing with fame, sudden fortunes, etc., as an offshoot of my main work with people who have experienced complex and developmental trauma. The way that you describe your experience in this video feels genuine and I can tell that you are conscious and intentional about your own mental and emotional wellbeing. That's beautiful. And, so, as I read what I've written, I realize that I want to add this: part of why I love your channel is that my job includes hearing about some of the worst kinds of things humans do to each other. The genuine kindness and generosity of spirit you project helps me refill my own well so that I can be fresh, positive, and fully present for the people who do their therapy work with me. And I see I commented on this same video two years ago. So, there's the proof that I mean what I say!
"Why don't you do more therapy sessions?" Davie: "Because in order to help you with therapy sessions, I need to be fine myself." 😞 It's alright Davie, take a break. Take some time off. Health first, stay strong! We are with you!
Hang in there, Davide! Thank you so much for all your hard work. You bring such joy through your videos, and awe when you play. You are an awesome human with the best heart. Peace, health, and love to you and your family and friends. You make the world a much better place.
Davie504 is such a legend, one of the greats on YT that deserve all the happiness in the world. View counts and other numbers are probably so hard to not let effect you... stay strong everyone, what matters most is your health, so don't become too dependent on numbers or popularity, as these things are never in your control completely
I enjoy your stuff immensely - and I share your videos with my son who has just started to learn to play. The things you are doing get him excited about music and not to take things so seriously. Thank you.
I just discovered you recently; and I think you are an amazing musician and an amazing content creator. Wherever your endeavours takes you, surely you will still be great, as great people always achieve greatness.
I used to play Bass I started when I was 14 and played in a Metal band for 14 years I stopped playing after Getting married and Having Children I just didn't have the time anymore But you've been one of the inspirations for Me to Play again and I'm setting My computer up to start recording My own stuff soon. I loved the "Real you" and have been watching you for years. My children love to watch your videos with me as well. Keep up the good work and you'll always have loyal fans like me and My family......also I only SLAP! the bass. because My brother told me Bassist who play with picks are guitarists who couldn't make it lol.
Great video! I started watching your videos through your collaboration videos with TwoSet Violin. The instrument battle concert you guys put together was epic!! Looking forward to seeing more of that. 👍
"Hope it wasn't boring" he says.. Davie, if anything, there should be a separate playlist for this.. I'd love to watch this for a change.. I bet I'm not alone in how much I love this video.
I just recently found you & I LOVE what you do. Just remember, some people suck & don't let those people get you down. You're incredible & I laugh throughout all your videos. I'm glad I ran across you. 🖐🏻
to me, looking at you. a man that obviously works extremely hard to be a better bassist and youtuber with great intentions backing it all. you dont need to do better, i mean improvements are always appreciated but what you bring to the table is enough. you should never forget that, sometimes the wheel doesn't spin your way that doesn't mean everyone that loves your content and music think any less of you. i can say with honesty that i wouldnt be learning electric bass without your influence. anyway, keep slapping.
I dont always vibe with your videos but seeing you be so honest and open really touched my heart, thank you for everything you do and the smiles you bring.
@@skurd721 I've never related/known much reddit stuff in any way, it's blocked in my country since it could technically be called a porn site, have to use vpn to access it which is a fuss.
So I just discovered this channel last week. I only recently started getting into bass and this channel is just the vibe I need right now. Its wholesome, not foul and too serious. Nice.
I think he's still slightly in character here. If you watch his video from a few years ago asking his fans to donate to him on Patreon because of RU-vid demonetization, he appears very shy and soft-spoken.
this is already 2 years old, im seeing this now, i wish i found this earlier cause i needed this for a while, you were so positive and about your passion, i realize i too have passions and i too have reasons to keep going, thank you for opening my eyes.
Dude, please keep making videos. I was at Aviano for four years. We had a few guys who played various instruments and we would jam at a local place. Ostria di poeti. I sold my bass when I got back to the states. But you got me to start playing again. You are accomplishing your mission. And just send the haters to me. I will go Germano Mosconi on them. "Sei viene avanti ancora te do un pungo!!!!
Dave, English is not may native language, I don' play bass (or any other instrument) and I don't follow many RU-vidrs. I am a police officer in Croatia and watch your videos mostly at home after night shifts before going to sleep, because they make me laugh and calm me, even with all those slaps. I just want to say that you are doing good job and you are helping people like me to carry on, so if you don't film any more video, that's fine, you did enough and we have materials to rewatch ror years, don't be hard on yourself. :)
Very thoughtful. It's sometimes the small things in life that make the best of our days, and your personal story as any human being coming home exhausted from work, put a smile on my face -- And I'm sure that, should Davie read this, he would smile, too.
I've been completely emotionally shattered lately. I used to watch your videos in the past and this was the first time I've ever really felt connected to your content. I've been so hopelessly depressed lately. Even a year later it was genuinely awesome watching this. I have a lil figure of you and my favorite Borderlands character on top of my computer. Former guitarist here happily slapping your content
I'm wishing for more happy and bright days for you ahead, bud. 🌱 . Never give in. There are always better days that are bound to come after the terrible ones.
Just found this channel. It’s clear that you have a focused passion and I am happy you share it - long live the bass. Keep it up. You are very talented and also, make the videos you want, not what we want. Plenty of us will enjoy and watch it.
A great testimony, Davie. Although you say that your on-screen personality is just playing a character, I think the beauty of your screen presence is that your kindness and talent radiate well through your silly, bombastic and even self-deprecating humor. And don’t worry if you have a bad day of producing interesting content. We all have those. Bad days make the good ones shine better!
Love you man. Started watching this video when it was fresh from the oven. Somehow never finished it. Just found it again. Glad you crossed the 10 million mark. Glad to be one of them
I just watched this video now. I have huge appreciation to what you do. You put a spotlight to an instrument that is hugely underrated. Though your videos are not what I would binge watch myself, that does not lower my appreciation to your work one bit. So big up man and keep doing what you do the way you do it!
Davie, I've been watching for years, and seeing how much you've grown, seeing who you reached out to including myself, your content has always been some of my favorite on RU-vid. I've been watching since 2017, and you were a huge inspiration to me. So huge an inspiration, in fact, that I wanted to learn how to play guitar. I built a passion for music because of how your content touched my heart. Now, I'm building a music career because of the inspiration and passion you fed me. I may not be the best guitarist in the world by any means, but every day I strive to get better. I wish you only the best of luck on this journey. Nothing slaps harder than passion in your trade.
Big support my dude. You'll get through this period, no question. I've seen you switch up your content before successfully, and I know you can do it again. Nice to see you talk more real to the camera. My suggestion for content is that I would like to see real, happy/higher energy Davie, enjoying bass and music, every once in a while. Talk soon, my wife
I subscribed with you having 12 million subs!!! Congrats!! You are hilarious, accomplished, intelligent and driven. You will go far in whatever you choose to do!!!
"Behind every hate comment is a sad person." Pretty sure this is one of the best YTer quotes I've heard ever. Since this is likely going to be a chain, I figure I'd might as well explain for the unknowing. My pfp is of Lisa Imai. Anime bassist for the Japanese band Roselia. She's one of the characters from the mobile game and anime _BanG Dream! Girls Band Party!_ (abbreviated to "Bandori"). I could explain what Bandori is, but I'll leave that job to Google. All I'll say is that I highly recommend the game, anime, and music. There are 7 active bands all producing their own music, so odds are you'll like at least one of the bands assuming you're a weeb like me.
Only discovered your channel recently, and as someone who used to play the bass, and still fucking love it as my favourite instrument and sound, all I can say is you are awesome dude!! Passion is the driving force for everything that actually matters in life. Being passionate about something is what gives you a reason to get up every day. And that's why you will never stop and just keep doing what you're doing dude. Legendary! SLAPPA DA BEEEUUSSSS!
Respect Dave for opening up to us., props for showimg us the real view. It must be hard trying to create content after 9mill subs but I don't doubt for a second. Your a legend on the bass and thsts facts also content creation. My I suggest more colabs with other legends of the RU-vid musical world? The sheer wow factor of the skills that get shown in those videos are totally Savage. Head up, shoulders back and BASS bro
Davie: Real personality reveal Also Davie: My uncle said, “With great power comes great responsibility.” Me: Well shit, I guess Davie’s actually SpiderMan
I can relate to a lot of what you said. But stay focused and committed all the way. I remember the first time I watched your videos it put a smile on my face as I also play bass which I must say that the bass is of 7+ instruments I play and master. We all have our ups and downs but like you said, if you're passionate about something just keep on pressing forward and just shut out all negativity all together. Stay positive, be positive, feel positive, think positive, talk positive and just do the funky positive. All the best to you in your career. Much love from Canada.
dude I always look forward to your videos and the fact I've missed out on over a year of them is just... upsetting, moreso that I missed kind of a massive bomb like this one that really sheds light on how bigger youtubers feel
Dude, same. Didnt watch a video of him since a while, not because Im not subscribed, its because I subscontiously watch my recomendations. Anyways, am happy too.
