I'm a Dva main my self and this Dva player has to know against a Zarya they are not a priority until you see they have spent their bubbles or they don't have support from their team. Dva has incredible movement and flexibility so don't ever be afraid of targeting a backliner or singled out dmg. Be annoying, don't get too aggressive, utilize your ult against the backline first before the Zarya. Also please for the love of God don't feed her 😮💨
the worst thing any team can do to their own dva is charge the enemy zarya. i can be popping off on dva but my team just keeps charging zarya and i end up rolled halfway through the teamfight bc zarya chases me down after my team charges her up.
It it situational. You don’t want to take a ton of damage as you fly through their team to get a kill, but that or flanking are the only options sometimes. And flanking as a solo tank honestly isn’t even an option. Some maps will allow an off angle to sneak through though. This dva did what you’re supposed to do round one. Junkertown is a map that allows Easy access to the backline and it’s easier to avoid Zarya. You pretty much have to hope your team mates help with two things: not shooting bubbles but shooting her when bubble is down. However, it’s highly likely that they will shoot her only when her bubbles are up. You can do things to bait her bubbles like use micro missiles then immediately turn away or pretend to dive an enemy then turn around mid boost. Once Zarya is high energy it’s gets much harder on certain maps. I often either play to kill her backline when it’s accessible or kill her as soon as possible. I also try to bait Sym players into over extending to burst them down. It always works until they get suzu’d or life gripped last second 🙄 Avoid her as much as possible but if she is out of position kill her immediately and make sure to land your shots so you kill her before her beam charges. With Mei you need to avoid her and force her to use cooldowns when she makes a mistake. You can pressure her to use ice block then fly away before she demechs you. Like the others you want to kill her as soon as she gives the opportunity. But Mei is pretty hard to kill so you don’t want to focus her too much. She doesn’t do as much dps as a high energy Zarya (though don’t underestimate how much damage the ice spray does) and can’t shield her team. So I suggest just avoiding her and killing her later. As a general tip, use high ground as much as possible and don’t stay in their beams for too long. If they are running some cancer comp like Brig, Bap, Sym, Mei, Zarya, you probably won’t get value even if you are a much better player than them. It’s the crappy state of ow right now: everyone works to make the tank’s life as hard as possible. Now if you’re a one trick, the last thing you should do is demand what heroes people play, but you can suggest they go a hero like Bastion. Bastion doesn’t care if he charges Zarya’s bubbles because he can just kill her after 🙂 Then when you beat them after they switch to counters, make sure to taunt them in chat for being pathetic players relying on hard counters because they can’t win the neutral game.
@commentbot9510 yup most of these things I do already and it's as you mentioned, have to trust my team to not shoot bubbles but knowing I'm in low elo more times than none my team still shoots the damn bubbles
You have to learn to play dva against zarya these days or they might as well just delete Dva. I've rarely had a game where they don't go zarya after the first team fight.
exactly. Everyone switches to Zarya whenever D'Va works. And I learned to love this matchup. Most of the time, people aren't really familiar with Zarya as much as I am with D'Va so I get more than enough space to pop off and stomp these counterpickers. And then, DPS switches to Symm. This is where it's time to switch, sadly
as a dva main, it’s honestly easy to play against zarya too if your team is with u! the only times i fail against a zarya is when the team is doing different things, some of them trying to break her bubbles and others trying to ignore it. if everyone’s on the same page it’s not difficult
As a gold 1 dva main. I would absolutely go Sig on Junkertown. I've had bad win ratio with Dva on this map unless the opposing team was absolutely a mess which is rare, but Sig offers a lot of utility. Sig and Rein are my backup tanks. I think the reason why people don't pick up Sig because it can be a hard learning curve to cycle cooldowns effectively with him. I've learned from watching Emongg to get the job done.
Biggest issue I see is the Dva over commiting. Like Emongg said, it's ok to back away. If you over stay your welcome you will end up in a bad situation. Sometimes just being a distraction is enough.
No reason to switch off DVA. This is winnable against "THIS" Zarya. The person playing Zarya, is really bad. Doesnt understand Zarya strengths, abilities, or positioning. ESPECIALLY!!!, bubble management vs. regenerative armor. This person pops bubble every time the wind blows or random spam passes by, not during an actual fight (because they have no bubble during the actual fights) , when regenerative armor has been or is nearly depleted. F'ing insane how poor this Zarya player is. No need to swap off DVA, unless youre just worse, which, in all honesty is hard to be.
Even if both tanks in this game are at equal "skill level" it is still possible to play a game as Dva against a comp with Zarya. As Emongg said you need to take high ground/far distance from Zarya and/or target her teammates so her beam don't reach you and you take out her allies. Of course that Zarya can adjust their playstyle as well but at the end of the day the matchup don't really matter too much. It is about the map and how the two tanks play and adapt.
Ok so yes there are counters in overwatch. Yes certain tanks have a edge over other tanks. HOWEVER I also believe there is no such thing as a counter. I main Junkerqueen. Once you play one charcter for so long. Like I have over 600 hours on her. You begin to learn “ok what should I do against this enemy team?” “Who do I have on my team?” Should I poke or should I rush. I have climbed from plat to top 500 by just learning to adapt how I play her against certain tanks that might have a edge. You have a zarya that negates my bleed? Cool I’ll go after ur supports. Ana? Sure I’ll throw knife into her and axe her Dodge sleep. I have had multiple teams in gm/top 500 go purely to counter my jq and I have won countless times. You just need to get enough practice on the main ur using and counters become non existent. Focus on what you can improve on and take that to ur next game
I once had a match where rhe DVa on my team was doing so good the entire other team end up chaging to Zarya, Mei, Moira and Brig. That poor DVa lost all the value they got, and refused to change completely, we couldn't so anything, we fot rolled. On the second round i was like "dude, i know you want to play DVa, but you're not getting any value, i think maybe swapping would do us better." They didn't care and end up swapping to Reinhardt just at the end when we got already rolled. There was no point in doing it anymore. Funny thing is that it happened specifically in this map too.
I mean in an ideal world sure they could change, but they forced an entire team swap on the other side because they were that good of a Dva. Is that really the person you want on a 2nd pick hero? Or maybe your team could've done the same thing in support of your Dva instead of blaming them. I don't know what their 2nd DPS is, but you laid out a vanilla brawl comp - all you guys had to do was go range and it would've negated their entire strategy on most maps (idk if someone asked for Rein, but actually Rein is worse than Dva against that brawl comp you described unless your entire team went onto rush with a lucio or something, which is the same as you guys just flexing to pick to keep your Dva on their best character). I get what you're saying, but we really need to quit pretending that Tanks are the only ones that can counterpick. That wasn't the tank counter, that was teamwork by the enemy team, which means team diff.
@@shioramenrabbit this is why I mute chat now. I can’t stand people yelling to swap at the sight of a single Zarya. They have 1 brain cell and don’t know how to play to help their dva. All they know is Rock Paper Scissors.
at least he can do something i got some dooms that idk they will get 3 counters and still decide they can solo them (and they only stay alive longer because i go lw)
What's the win/loss ratio i need to rank up in OW2? It deranked me when going 5/3. Every time it reranks i win 2 games easy then get bronze players to lose 2 or 3 matches?
That’s the problem. People keep thinking it’s a win loss ratio (which it is - mainly stay above 50%) but there’s hidden mmr stats that are keeping you placed where you are. If it was only based on wins and losses people wouldn’t complain all the time about the ranking system. I think one of the main ‘ingredients’ is if you’re ‘gold’ and you roll 4 silver lobbies in a row but lose to a plat lobby, it basically goes “you’re better than silver but cant pass plat”. It’s like the system does a rank check every once in a while and tosses you a few higher level players - if they roll you, it knows you’re not ready for that rank.
The thing is in lower rank switching might not be the best its better play character your better with then switching to one ur not you give your team less value playing someone ur not good at
This person is way too quick to engage w their boosters vs walk over and disengage w the booster. Instead they throw themselves into an unwinnable situation and push too hard. And overusing dmx to make up for it
I'm willing to bet this Dva player is a hypocrite. They refuse to swap, but willing to berate others to swap off their heroes if things aren't going well.
