Today I speedran building a mega base in minecraft from SCRATCH. Building and gathering materials takes a long time.. But how quick can you build if you optimise it? Subscribe and leave a like! Follow me on twitter!: / smallishbeans
@@mia-sq5sg And now that it has been a long while since I said exactly I can finish my statement a lot like Grian finishing the back, way way way later. . . You are absolutely correct. LOL
I wonder if the material gathering stage could be optimized by using more "traditional" speedrun strats to get to the end in order to get elytra, enchanted gear, and shulkers from an end city, kinda like an all advancement run? Could be interesting to do as a duo, with one speedrunner and one builder
For Joel, who’s never done normal speedrunning before, having to go all the way to the end for gear would be a huge time loss. But for an experienced All Advancements speedrunner like Feinberg, that would definitely be the strategy they use!
The idea of a Co-op category for this is really interesting too! It would be awesome seeing Joel attempt this with another builder like FWhip or Scott, or a Pro Speedrunner, or someone who can build and speedrun like Cubfan!
This straight up feels like a slap in the face I couldn't even build a decent looking base in 9 hours let alone a mega base??? Joel is just better than all of us really.
the way you explain the story at 0:57 with putting the things you are talking about on the back and rowing the boat in front of them is just a GREAT way of telling things, i LOVE it and please use it all the times
This is one of those backhanded compliments...... You say much better than you expected which is the same as saying..... I thought this was going to look bad, I expected you to fail.
really appreciating the dirt house at 1:04. whether you replaced the blocks in a normal build with some kind of command magic or just straight up made it i know that had to have been annoying/time consuming. god speed
Idea: MAGE BUILD SPEEDRUN Rules: 1. Use 10000 Blocks or more 2. Build something recognisable 3. People have to be able to tell what it is 4. U have to use more than 10 different types of Materials for ur build (Oak Logs, Stripped Oak Logs, Planks etc count as the same Type so it has to be a different Type of Wood to Count) 5. Only full Blocks Count towards the 10 different Blocks (Banners, Kelp, Grass, Sapplings, Fences, Walls, etc dont count) the only exceptions are Stairs and Slabs 6. U have to build it in Survival or Hardcore
I would love to see others from the Empires, Hermitcraft and *life series take on Joel's challenge! Fwhip, MythicalSausage, Gem, Pearl, Impulse, BDubs, Martyn and many others! This is a very cool challenge. Thanks Joel!
If you go at it right away, getting a proper villager setup going only takes like 2 hours (until they make those terrible changes, then it'll take forever), so you could get diamond tools (and armor) and proper enchantments to be able to get whatever materials you want much quicker. Maybe it'd pay off.
please make this a series, you could do others like a nether base, village (varied sizes based on no of buildings?), practical survival starter base, castle, etc?
I love this idea and actually love the pink roof. It goes nicely with the various woods. It is pretty. I would love to see you speedrun the interior now!!!!!
Joel, you are the best Minecraft builder I've ever seen. I don't think anybody would be able to speed run building a mega base and make it look as good as you can. I love your videos and keep it up!
Was this megsbase done using lightmatica? If so the design time should add on - would love to see a mega base challenge with no prep! Maybe Vs another crafty boi
Can we appreciate how Joel literally had to built an entire dirt-made hideous base(which btw doesn't look that bad but you get my point) just for the 3 second cut of the video. Dedication
idk if you know the farm but the shulkercraft cobblestone gen would cut resource grinding by a whole lot, its really easy to build and if youre quick it shouldnt take long. if you practice getting to the nether for the quartz, loot shipwrecks, and get lucky with getting redstone early, you could easily get pretty much all your resources in less than an hour
Depends on how many total blocks you need to use in the structure but yeah thatd be very helpful plus you could get enough netherite for a pickaxe and an axe which would seriously help speed... Maybe a shovel too
cubiomes is a good program that allows you to check through a bunch of different seeds, and even set parameters for the seeds you want to find. You can set it so that it shows you seeds with certain biomes within a set radius from spawn. I've set it so that within 250 blocks of spawn, you have jagged peaks, frozen peaks, and plains, and set it so that you *don't* have savannahs within 1000 blocks of spawn. You can do the same, including any biome you want, and it will find one (within reason). Obviously, if the seed youre looking for is impossible, like having every biome in the game within a 3x3 blocks radius around spawn, then it won't turn anything up.
I love this idea plus this is such a treat because your megabases are so beautiful.... But I think what makes a mega base a "mega base" is having it functional with an enchanting set-up, storage room and whatever a mega base needs... so yes Joel, don't be shy, we need that interior >:]
You should ask a speedrunner for tips on like gathering materials and all that so the only real time crunch you have to figure out is the building itself
Here's a trick for a faster time: just don't build the back of the base! Grian does that all the time and no one has noticed. On a serious note I think you can make this faster if you build something like a dwarven structure that's half in the mountain.
@smallishbeans did you know it only takes 3 entries/3 people doing the thing in order to make it a real speedrun catagory so if you got 2 other friends lije sausage, fwhip, grian, scar, Scott or litterally any other 2 people you could make this a real speedrun
