No one ever mentions your wonderfully dry sense of humor is. I love it, man. It’s one of the main reasons I watch the channel and listen to the podcast. Great job!
I'm glad you mentioned that awkward moment after the autograph. I had a similar situation happen when I was getting David Prowse's autograph once. I was trying to pick out the photo I wanted him to sign, and he was grabbing it, and I was trying to grab it off the stack, and it was just...bad...and I felt so embarrassed.
Auto's are hit or miss but man nothings worse than getting time to talk to someone you admire/get a photo too and all of the cool questions leave your brain... Ugh.
That awkward handshake story cracked me up. That happens to me all the time. I've given many "Gearshifts" where you go for the handshake, they go for the fistbump and I end up grabbing their fist
Matt i want to thank you for every video you make, if I ever feel depressed i go and watch some of your video’s from 6 years back, then I remember the good old time as a kid when I don’t ever feel sad and have stress, 👌💯
I wish I ran into you at this convention. I get so excited now seeing you upload. As soon as I see your ass I'm right into the spooky season. Thanks Drac
The hand thing happened to me once too, with an acquaintance at his wedding reception. I had a coworker at the time who would put his hand up like a high five but then do more of a handclasp sort of thing. So when this other acquaintance tried to get a high five I just habitually like grabbed his hand and I can't even describe what it turned into but it was completely ruined.
I would have got Eric Freeman's autograph too! The first big name "celebrity" I met was Summer Glau, while she was still in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. I lined up for more than an hour. By the time I got to the front of the line, there were still about 100 people behind me. I fully expected her to speak first, but she just looked up at me with those beautiful eyes. I was stunned, so I just blurted out my name. I felt like the biggest a-hole, so I spent the next few months trying to find her on social media, just so I could apologise.
I was there! Too bad I didn't bump into you. Actually, it was probably for the best, because I would have totally NOT maintained social distancing. Glad you got to meet Eric Freeman. He's such a nice guy. I've had him on my channel several times. You can actually get signed mini garbage cans from him on his website.
Now THAT'S a well-rounded haul. I'm going to my first convention in two years this weekend... may I hold to the non-budget that is... #ConRules 👀🤞 (... but also a real budget. 👀🤞)
Getting celebrity autographs are always awkward! I got quite a few when I was working on a movie with a handful of Hollywood actors. I wish I had gotten Dermot Mulroney's autograph! I did get one from Luke Kleintank, Austin Abrams and a few others, though.
I've gone to a local anime con since I was 16. It never gets old going to the dealer's room that first day. Like going to Hot Topic for the first time in months or the mall in general but grander and with more money at line... lol I am clearly more Team Halloween than Team Scary as hell shit... But this review makes me want to at least go back to my local Steel City comic con in Monroeville, PA again. My anime con Tekko is coming back in December and I never feel ready enough for these things! If I was in your area and I saw you at a convention I'd be struck mute and dumb like I am around any cool star or celebrity. No lie. Most you'd get is an awkward "Hi wave" :)
Awesome video! I was a huge fan of your writing back in the X-Entertainment days and it's a real joy to be able to find your incredible work again. Side note: I've seen the first "Ghoulies" and have "Ghoulies III" but I have this weird hangup about watching it since I haven't seen "Ghoulies II." I'm guessing that's rather stupid of me! ( ;
I'm glad you got that sticker off cuz he looked like minnie pearl. I'm the master of taking off stickers because I buy so much stuff like that. I also have Goo gone too just in case but.
Haha… i have a sweet ode to the video store with 3 display shelves and lights in my theater room (i think 75 vhs’) and my buddy just gave me my late christmas present… captain ron! Needless to say it bumped someone out of its spot, couldnt not display CR.
@@dinosaurdracula Hey! I wish! Sorry, that was my attempt to joke about the now famous thumbshake, which is how people will greet each other in the future (as prophesized by The Amazing Criswell). Anyway, thanks so much for the reply! I'm a big fan. We're all fans here at casa Hernandez. Have ya ever thought about doing any live RU-vid events? Leviathan could run boom mic. -Alex
Funny thing was I swore I saw you in the hallway (right when I shot the vid of the con logo that opens this video), but when I looked again you'd vanished!
I think Captain Ron is the movie I most associate with a grocery store video rental store. Never rented it but always saw it on the shelf. Watched it not that long ago and it holds up pretty well honestly.
I now want to go to a NJ horror con so I can run into you, say "Hi" confidently, see you look awkward, realize that all my confidence can pull off is "Hi" so I'm now in the same boat and then face each other awkwardly before turning away and wondering what to make of the interaction.
You should donate that captain Ron VHS to THE HOUSE in Delhi, NY. One of my favorite x-e articles that no longer exists on the internet but I can probably recite from memory.
Captain Ron is a strange movie. I don't even really like it, but I've seen it a few times. I'm not surprised it was at a horror convention. There's something insidious about it. It should not be.
