You said ‘soy/es’ a lot when you should have said ‘estoy/está’. Use ‘estoy’ for something that is temporary, for example, location. So, you said “Shrek es aquí”, but you should’ve said “Shrek está aquí”. Also, you could say “Estoy muy cansado” meaning “I am very tired”, not “Soy muy cansado”. There are a multitude of different ways to use estar and ser.
11:23 She said "With eggs and with avocados or stuff like that". Spanish is my first language and honestly, you did great! Your pronunciation is good for a beginner.
6:40 that guy was absolutely 100%. Till this day I remember the exact moment I started to understand English, it was during my English Class when the teacher was explaining the homework and I understood the word "work" and could distinguished between "world", "word" and "work". Since that day my reading comprehension got better as well and have improved ever since.
Yeah, I’m learning French and it is crazy you just get this “lightbulb” moment and suddenly things start to make sense. It happened a few years ago with my reading comprehension and it’s happened recently with my listening as I keep watching French stuff with subtitles, and I actually don’t need subtitles a lot of the time now! Language learning is so rewarding especially when you can feel your progress.
I admire the dedication he put trying to learn and speak Spanish. As a Spanish speaker I can say that it may be difficult at the beginning, but it's so much worth it when you start to understand words, little conversations or even a video in the lenguaje you're trying to learn. It was really fun to watch, and you have an excellent pronunciation by the way. Espero que algún día puedas leer esto sin necesidad de usar traductor 🤭
that's awesome, coming from someone that has been learning Spanish strictly via yt and chatting online. you don't _need_ to attend classes, you don't _need_ to buy courses, you don't _need_ to start on January first. You just need to start. I hope seeing this encourages more people to embark on their language learning journeys!
Thank you for saying that! I just started learning Spanish, and I need the motivation to keep going If you have any recommendations for channels or websites, I would really appreciate it.
@@reeham5452 sigue así! I'd highly recommend you use spanishdict, very useful in almost any aspect imaginable (not sponsored jajj) personalmente, i watched videos by señor Jordan and AIB (now known as "language tutor" if I'm not mistaken) to learn grammar etc. I've heard Dreaming Spanish is a good channel for beginners, también. buena suerte con tu aprendizaje 👍
@@mopas6386 No sé porque, pero mi maestro de español en 10º grado dijo que no le gusta Spanishdict, aunque yo y los otros estudiantes en la clase estaba completamente de acuerdo contigo. A mí aún me gusta Spanishdict.
@@abhinav_photo.and.linguistics spnaishdict es buenísimo, pero no puede ser el mejor de todos los demás en todos los aspectos a la vez.. osea, opino que WordReference es mejor en respeto al vocabulario, que DeepL es mejor traductor de lo que sea eso que hace spanishdict con frases largos xd
i’m very pleasantly surprised by how nice everyone on the language side of omegle seems to be, at least from what’s included in this video. it’s great that a lot of them genuinely tried to help you learn! :)
@@Nae_Ayy Pretty clear why they skip. If you have no clue about the language, you are totally unable to speak even about basic stuff. It's just very boring for the other person and time is so precious.
I think George really improved along the week learning through strangers, Like Xiaoma said, speaking is the best way to learn and have fun with a new language
Good job george! Love the dedication to learn a new language. Everytime I try to learn a new language I’d get demotivated because I keep thinking it’s hard 😭 But ya learning by speaking to another person and having a conversation helps a lot because we remember interactions with others.
That one guy had some good advice. Learning a language is not a linear gradual experience, its gonna be slow at first, but once you pick it up then you'll be able to understand a lot more. On that note, I also learned that exposure and the immediate needs for a particular skill, is really what makes you learn a lot. For example, being placed in a Spanish speaking public lobby and getting booted out for speaking English in Among Us, really gave me the motivation to pretend I knew Spanish. It was fun. In the game everyone spoke really simply and to the point, and I got to learn all the colour names.
Well done for one week of learning spanish without an actual teacher. It is quite impressive actually. This goes to show how far confidence and a positive mindset can take you when learning a new language. The best thing you can do is just to throw yourself into situations where you are out of depth and then take in all the new vocabulary and tips you get when failing. Learning a new language is an iterative process and even though you may, at some points, not realize you're improving, you should look back at where you started, appreciate your effort and then go at it again :) Mucha suerte con tu aprendizaje, George. Con esa actitud vas a aprender la lengua bonita rápidamente 🇪🇸
I admire you trying to learn Spanish, I know the language can be hard at times with every Spanish speaking country having different phrases, but it's truly a beautiful language that can connect people. Muchas gracias por tu esfuerzo me encantan tus videos y es lindo ver todo el empeño que pones en ellos y en aprender español
I've been learning spanish for 250 days now (you guessed it, on duolingo) and wow I'm impressed by how much your language has improved from omegle itself. definitely gonna be trying omegle in the future
Quick note: You said ‘soy/es’ a lot when you should have said ‘estoy/está’. Use ‘estoy’ for something that is temporary, for example, location. So, you said “Shrek es aquí”, but you should’ve said “Shrek está aquí”. Also, you could say “Estoy muy cansado” meaning “I am very tired”, not “Soy muy cansado”. @@sude5486 For example, you could say ‘soy molesto’ (i am annoying) as you are describing yourself as a personality trait. Theres many different scenarios in which you use them. But you can just put different sentences with ‘i am’ etc. into google translate and it uses the correct verb 99% of the time.
@@Kae-denator for basics I think you’d become fluent, because on this website the average conversation time is about 5/10 minutes maximum. To be considered as fluent I think he has to talk about a lot more subjects. But yeah, I mean it’s not crazy to say that in 6 months, by talking Spanish everyday, you could be kind of fluent
@@Kae-denator i went from zero to C1 advanced in about a year, I think majorly due to the huge quantity of time I devoted to putting myself in social situations in which I could speak Spanish or hear it. And just really wanting to get past the frustration of not understanding, I changed the way I thought and went about my daily life during that year and I did it. I’d say i began to become fluent, ie i started to become independent in my ability to express my self, understand and adapt in unpredictable situations, somewhere about 6-8 months into that. It’s definitely doable, just, at least for me, takes a commitment to involve yourself with native speakers as often as literally possible. To think about/use the language in your daily life in as many situations as possible.
This video was very entertaining! I've been learning Korean through a mix of duolingo and a program at my university where you teach someone a language and they teach you one in return. I find duolingo is good for teaching you vocabulary, but it does not explain sentence structure, conjugation or formalities very well. It also is not great for conversation practice, which is where having a buddy is useful! I kept writing down words or phrases you said throughout the video that I didn't know in Korean so I can practice them with my partner! You're making me tempted to practice with strangers, but some weird stuff goes on on Omegle. Having conversations in a foreign language is one thing, but to do it with strangers requires so much confidence! Great video!
@@nik_glas I asked my partner how to say Dessert and she told me it’s the same as English, yet Duolingo is trying to teach me a random word. It taught two words for egg and my friend said one of them is never used.
@@sude5486I'm also learning Spanish, but my way of learning is by being around fluent Spanish speaking people, watching telenovelas/movies/shows with English subtitles, and Duolingo.
Llevo un tiempo aprendiendo español y me gusta mucho. Tengo varios amigos españoles cuyos padres hablan español, así que ahora puedo comunicarme con ellos. ¡Gracias!
Hi! A Spaniard speaking! To everyone around trying to learn another language, I recommend starting by watching cartoons for toddlers. They use very basic language, as they're intend to teach children on how to speak. You learn simple phrases and tons of vocabulary. I know a lot of people who started like this, including myself, and trust me, it works. Obviously the next step is mixing yourself in the community. When you don't have any other option, when you can only make yourself understood by trying your best in this new language, your brain just learns to find the way to express anything. Good luck everyone!
I’m from Brazil, i speak portuguese, which the language is so similar with spanish, i can understand spanish very well and was fun watching you studying it and trying to understand they speaking. “And i’m learning English”
it's so fun to see you learn my mother tongue, I currently speak Spanish and English but I'm trying to learn french and it's kinda overwhelming, I should give Omegle a try (even tho the french scare me)
Whats your motivation to study french? I've been learning English, French and a bit of Spanish. If you want help me in spanish we get meet together somewhere in net. And I have 18
Hola, soy de República Dominicana aquí hablamos español por si no conocen el país ,me pasa lo mismo tratando de aprender inglés , admiró mucho que estás tratando de aprender español 🎉❤
I've been really wanting to learn Spanish for a while now. I've been studying it for school and this motivates me to stay on track even when I'm out of school. I also watch this other youtube channel called "Spanish After Hours" and she does these really good videos that have English captions so you can listen and piece together each word. It's a vlog style and is cool because you can see less formal/informal phrases that you would hear in a conversation. Cool video, and hey continue learning!
wow , awesome brons i am learning english and german recently and in the middle of the video i found that i could understand you without any of subtitles or translating as usual , so it really perfect for me 🥰
I was kind of annoyed by the clickbait title, but this was pretty funny. It takes a lot of patience from everyone involved and steel balls from the learner to try to learn a language this way.
dud this was such an amazing video and it was so crazy how you met the sam people you did the day before and how you were just level 1 than level 27 in 1 week that is 3.8 levels a day keep up the amazing work!
The simplest (and hardest) solution is to just speak more and you’ll get more comfortable. Honestly narrate your life in Spanish and it might help! Increasing input by watching tv and listening to music in Spanish may also help.
Oh mis dioses, mexicano aqui, amé este video, siempre es un placer ver gente tratando de aprender tu primer idioma ❤ Oh my gods, Mexican here, loved this video, it's always a pleasure watching people trying to learn your first language
Hi george, i love your videos and your vids always find a way to make my day better? And as a spanish person, i can say you have done really well learning
I am so over whelmed because of your quickly learning hahaha Casually today I've began to speak french and I've only studied for 2 days haha This video was gratifying Soo have a nice day and keep going learning spanish :3
i havent watched the whole video yet so you mightve already learned it, but just a tip i’ve learnt while doing spanish gcse! for present endings, you change it depending on who you talk to, so: o, as, a, amos, aís, an i, you, he/she, we, you (pl), they and you put those at the end, so when asking if someone speaks spanish, instead of saying “¿tu hablo español?” you’d say “¿tu hablas español?” idk if this makes any sense but yeah ! :)
Yes, for AR verbs, but it's o, es, e, emos, eís, en for ER and IR verbs. It also only applies to the present indicative tense :( Also for ¿tú hablas español? you can just say ¿hablas español?, as the ending of the verb already indicates who you're talking about/to. ¡Buena suerte para sus exámenes!
cuando quieras te enseño un poco más de español. Me encantan tus videos porque me ayudan con el inglés aunque lo hablas rápido pero me gusta verlos porque así me reto. Saludos Georgeee

I love watching you learning spanish, couse reminds me in the begginings of my ultralearning of the English in order to be able to live in USA, and now I'm almost bilingue, your adbantage is you can correct your spanish with English but opposite is a litle bit difficuler.

it's the best way to understand the different accents, because when you travel to different regions of spain or hispanoamerica it's the first wall that you need overtaken to understand anybody...
I have been learning German for the past 8 years (in school) and still can't speak it. Can't even say a basic sentence, not alone make a conversation going. Im amazed how George managed to level up in a week. 😳😳
I learned English in school but obly started to really learn it once I started to watch movies in English and chat in English a LOT. @@barzun8 Deinen Satz kann man vestehen, aber die Reihenfolge der Wörter ist nicht ganz richtig. "Ich spreche ein wenig Deutsch. Ich habe mit Duolingo gelernt" :)
Hey, don’t give up if you want to learn! I did 9 years of spanish throughout my schooling and could not speak to save my life. I’ve been out of school for 6-7 years now and started teaching myself Spanish a few months ago and already know more than i did in school (and can speak w/ spanish people). When you teach yourself on your own it’s a lot easier I think

I'd LOVE to see you learn danish! People say it's really difficult to learn and speak, but really, with practice I mean... Try it! :D Btw, love your videos, kinda just binged your entire YT O.o
11:17 “I think that my favorite food from my country is gallo pinto, it’s rice with beans, like together, with egg and you can put avocado on it, or things like that.”
I gained my English fluency through omegle. There we go, haha. The shady realm of nasty perverts with the exception of a few decent English speakers wanting to help you practice, lol
Good for you! My great grandmother was from Central Mexico, so I would love to learn Spanish. Unfortunately, I grew up in Ohio where everybody speaks English and has no reason to speak Spanish.
11:23 She's refering to a dish of Puerto Rico? I honestly don't know very well but it has avocado and she's explaining the dish, hope it helped you! Also I'm a big fan of your channel, I'm also a Spanish speaker and seeing you trying so hard to learn the language is so refreshing!!! Gracias por tu dedicación
I had fun watching this video!! I'm learning Spanish too but I'm learning in a different way. I watch a lot of comprehensible input videos such as Dreaming Spanish's videos. And I count the hours of my input. My total input time is 194 hours and my Spanish is pretty good, I can watch cartoons or simple videos and understand well. I like this method of learning because I learn naturally this way.
Can anybody help me out? U see i’m hispanic, half latina, peruvian, whatever, my problem is I don’t speak spanish! I need to learn spanish to talk to me peruvian family. I’m not going to use omegel because of obvious reasons but i’m so desperate to fit in with my peruvian culture, and my mom never taught me spanish, which was cruel to my future. I need to learn, I don’t care how long to get me fluent, but I want to know a lot in the next 2 years. I promised myself not to use duolingo because my sister had been using it for a year and it’s barely taught her spanish either. I really want to impress my mom and my family but I really really need help learning. Does anybody suggest or have any tips to help me learn?
Duolingo, i recommend u to play somes games with translation on spanish and movies on spanish, use translator if u dont know some word and you can also try to watch some famous spanish youtubers when u end all that to see if you understand them to know how much spanish do u know. Or u can start by putting on subtitles on english (automatic ones) to understand these videos.
Hola. como estas? un placer conocerte. Estoy aprendiendo español. Soy estadounidense de los Estados Unidos. Hablo un poco de español. Llevo siete meses aprendiendo español ¿Llevas ya ocho meses aprendiendo español? First and fore most pick a topic you love and put most of your vocabulary there, this won't help short term, but later this will help in the long run. For example I learned a lot of nature stuff. I can understand upward to 80% watching some nature related shows (more when reading) in spanish dealing with nature topics. Everything else is maybe 20% -30% but I use what I know well to slowy gain understanding in other topics. Get Chat gpt, it can do so many things even be a tutor, its helped me alot. Watch stuff in spanish minimal of 1 hour, but I recommend 2 or more. Start off slow with a few minutes, because your brain litterly has to adjust to it...I had bad headaches at first trying to listen to it a lot. Do your best to talk to spainsh speakers, its hard if your shy, but it gets better with time and it speeds up the process. Understand it will take a while, unless your crazy gifted. Learn it everyday! Its difficult at first, but it becomes a habit and gets easier I promise. I haven't missed a day yet and I'm undisciplined as it gets. Read spanish, you can use chat gpt to make custom reading material. I also like reading and writing in spanish here in the youtube comments. As far as duolingo it wont make you fluid by its self, but imo for grammer its useful. Learn and practice basic phrases untill your able to construct them from your mind. Also look for peruvian dialect content. There are many spanish dialects and focusing on one will speed things up. In my case I want to understand all dialects...but its slowing me down vs focusing on just one. If you can find someone to practice with it will speed things up to. Also its weird at first, but speak out loud to your self in spanish. I have a hard time talking to ramdom strangers so I practice speaking into chat gpt (voice to text) it helps a lot. Use Google translate to pronounce the words, its not as good as native speakers, but its better then nothing also youtube has content on pronouncing words.
Great video! You can deal the frustration across this website haha, but I like your effort and perseverance kept you learning this new language! If you still need help, just let me know :)
