The unassuming nature is what surprised me the most about this little guy. It doesn’t “intrude” into space like say your phone which always makes me question if the person is going to get distracted because their phone is out while they grab footage. It brings a bit of nostalgic joy of the good ole days of vlogging before all hybrid camera/video devices now.

QQQ: Please explain when this is better than action cams or things like DJI Osmos Pocket (or even a phone)? Also, I am concerned about Canon's commitment to these (vis á vis their EOS M). Thanks.

Honestly if you're going to be filming in environments that you would normally use an action cam I would recommend the action cam. This lil guy seems to be best used in simple, well lit areas. It's nice to use this instead of a phone if you're needing to save space or if you're wanting a more seamless color match with your other canon cameras. Lastly, I'd say that your concerns are definitely valid. Hope that helps!
