Good move chef but don't water them everyday. What you must do is rest the bamboo dem in a big tray with little water. That way the seed will only pull what it needs by wicking. If that bigger tray is drying out just add a little more water. To prevent harmful bacteria from affecting the seeds add a few drops of 3% hydrogen peroxide to the water that you resting the bamboo dem in. Also do not rest it on the wall as birds are going to find those seeds so put them on your verandah. Not all seeds germinate the same way and some might not like all that sunlight at once. In future instead of using the heavy clay soil for the seeds try using something they call peat moss mix with sand or just peat moss. The agriculture place might have that. Given that the seeds are not our local ones you can only pray that everything will work out. So most importantly pray daily over the seed them for Almighty God to give you a great harvest.
You can eat the beat greans in your salad. It's a good look. The seeds are going to sprout sooner in Jamaica, because it hot in Jamaica. As small as you see those beet seeds, they are more than one seed. Yout garden will do well.
Farmer Adrian, those foreign seeds grow better in the special soil sold at the garden store. Then they can be transferred into local soil when they get bigger.
I've enjoyed this. I have recently started my gallery garden and though i have not reaped yet, it brings me great joy to figure things out and care for my plants. I spent three hours sealing with them today. Continue to garden even when you go back to Canada. Create a small indoor garden. Get some grow lights.
It truly surprised me how many people love the soil. I’ve always been an outdoor person that lives nature and animals. I just never shared much of that side. Will be continuing the journey for sure and all the best with your journey
@AdrianMorrisTime You can get the soil at any one of the local farm store here in Jamaica.. If you are in the Kingston area, you can go to Eva grow garden center in Kingston. Are you can go to white mall in saint catherine at hyper farm and garden supplies.
Unfortunately most of the seeds are GMO on the island and the policy was passed quietly so the regular farmers are not educated on the difference or the effects especially on the soil... At least Conju could have educated people on identifying the difference but I guess that order also came from the bigger heads too... Food sovereignty going from us... He who controls the seeds control our economy and policies
I thought you needed permit to import seeds, I've been trying to buy seeds online and I've been told by the shopping companies that i need a import permit.
Wasn’t planning really on starting the farm just saw the seeds one day before my trip and I love to eat those fruits and vegetables and I decided to purchase them and take here with me so now I’ll look around Jamaica for more seeds to try
