The entire story made so sense to me as a UG enthusiasts of 2005-2010 era. We used to listen to UG scene with this kind of passion and also critisize the music and live shows in the inner circle. Thanks for bringing out the memories. ❤ Once i did a show with powersurge, arbovirus & stentorian at CTG muslim hall, with my former band effigy at 2008. I directly come to the venue after attending my HSC chemistry 2nd part exam. My family didnt know about that, and my bandmate brought a black tshirt so that i can change my white college shirt just to play the set. Amazing days!
LIVE AROCKALYPSE | Feb 2007 | Muslim Hall One of THE best undergrounder concerts to happen in Chittagong. Packed from the first performance. My 31st Demerit o opened the show. Good times.
@@AyanBaruaBD I remember beatboxing. Probably was the first ever beatboxing in a rock/metal show in Chittagong :p. But yeah, I beatboxed right before our band "Mynd's Eye" got up. I wasn't on stage when MTD got up. Was out with Guddu for some work that time. Eshe dekhi MTD was performing in front of a full crowd.
Good to see Jamshed bhai & Nahian bhai. Being a UG musician these conversations were so relevant. What they did in the 2000s we used to do all these things in the 2010s in Sylhet.

Everyone should stand beside all these geniuses gentlemen. We all need to rethink our view to metal bands. Listening to them makes me feel that i have no idea what actually going to the ground level considering metal bands. I think most of us have the same feeling; yes i am talking about mass people. We must promote metal bands. Thank you John Bhai to create the realisation in me. It was needed. Let's come together and Restart the process... Revolution require..
On point with the Live show production of Metallica and it’s unreal upfront. Had the privilege to watch them 5 years back. The energy to play 2 straight hours of a set is unbelievable- no let ups, just pure adrenaline and preparation.
I’ve been a lifelong fan of metal music - mainly thrash, brutal-tech death metal, grindcore and sludge metal. I’ve always loved both of these guys and the band itself. So cool to see and hear them talk, trade thoughts about metal music and all their experiences and memories. Both Jamshed and Nahian are so humble, honest and pure in their attitude and feelings. Metal musicians are generally so misunderstood. And sadly, they don’t get the credit they deserve. If I owned a record label or knew how to promote these bands, I’d do everything I could to help them. Edit: I’m a big fan of CDs. I now have a downsized collection of my firm favorites and essentials. Original, new CDs still cost a lot to collect in Bangladesh. Death metal albums, particularly, always cost me more than 2,000tk each. And most of the others I’ve bought on my travels abroad. If I were Nahian’s age and knew him then, I know I’d happily share and give him my CD albums to hear.
Absolutely loved this episode. Such throwbacks. And Saimum Hasan Nahian is seriously awesome. Jamshed Chowdhury, super jomse, tomar/tomader memories reminded me of my early days of being exposed to the scene, plus when I used to collect cassettes and CDs. Jon bro, keep up the podcast, please. I had to go back and watch Powersurge performance on the Drockstar videos for old times' sake.
Very insightful discussion, Nahiyan bhai should've added in the last about Eluvetie coming for a show and returning without doing so because of the security problems in Bangladesh
What a sophisticated discussion it was! Very good insight came out throughout the show. Music lovers can watch this episode without losing attention. ❤🙏
This episode absolutely a perfect episode for the young music enthusiast. And NAHIAN vai, wow man, respect for you. you just talk like me. Absolutely great episode for me and especially ending part.
best episode ever....ken jani mone hoiche Jamshed bhai kotha bolar shomoy ektu ghabraya geche...ba onek kichui mathay chilo kintu ken jani bolte pare nai idk nahian bhai onek shundor kore sob kichu explain korche and Jon bhai you're the best karo kothay interfere koren na eta Amar kache onek bhalo lage je kotha bole tar kotha Pura ta shunen❣️
Absolutely nostalgic! The ICCB Aloki crowd will never know how much engaging RCC, Friends club Uttara, NLA used to be and like Jon bhai said - they don't need to. Good times. I just hope People would love music someday and go to show instead of attending a show just to puff puff pass and hangout.
Amazing episode, brought me back to the memory lane. Since yesterday I was watching all the episodes of D Rockstar, that show was was ahead of the time. I feel so bad for some of the bands who sounded amazing, but couldn't bloom to the potential.
1:16:55 I still have d'rock star dvd/vcd. It was a hell of a show. My mother was a pure Powersurge hater 😅😅 She used to say ভূত তাড়ানো গানের অনুষ্ঠান 😅😅😅
Thanks ❤❤❤❤ Just to piss you guys off “Amazing!! Bunch of boomers having annual nostalgia session” 😂 Jokes apart, brilliant conversation from talented rockstars of Bangladesh!!❤❤❤
It has been a constant thing for over a decade now. Musicians saying it's listener and sponsor's fault, sponsors saying its musicians and listeners fault and listeners are complaining it's musicians fault. Metal scene needs an open dialogue between everyone as everything is interconnected. Everyone is at fault here and they have their own reasons of not mitigating it. Bring or talk to more listeners if you want something impactful. Or else it would be like this forever
I’m not gonna claim myself as a die hard fan of Metallica like you guys but none of them is in their late 60s! Only Hetfield turned 60 this year!!!…fortunately I had the opportunity to see them live twice (Rome 2014, Bologna 2018) and the energy these guys brings on each and every song are just otherworldly!!!..Live show Production wise they are superb but IMO still no way near the awesomeness of Rammstein,Roger Waters and Tool (I’ve seen them live as well). Rammstein’s live shows are just another level.
Of the American Big Four, I always liked Slayer and Belladona-era Anthrax much more. Metallica’s ‘Ride the Lightning’, though, still floats my boat. Exodus, Death Angel, Dark Angel, Nuclear Assault and a few more acts were top tier thrash that I loved and bought most of their albums, too.
1:02:06 As far as I know India or Nepal don't have Metal bands as good as Bangladesh. But they definitely have better Metalhead community than Bangladesh. Bands like Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Metallica & DT showed in Paasher Desh. Maiden's Senjutsu was a bestselling album in India in 2021.
BD has so many pioneers musicians and they have access to a lot of opportunities organization why the are not organizing shows like D ROCK STAR again..WHY!! Always just complaining.. "" Ei nai oi nia hen ten "
nahian bhai koto guchhiye kotha bolte pare ta janai chhilo na. dRockstar er shomoy boost peye band music er shathe jukto howa ai ami akhono power surge ke moner moddhe shei youth icon hishebei shajiye rekhechhi. really love u guys
I went through a similar phase when I first started listening to music. I can relate with Nahiyan Vai because of the way he relates to that era of music. (2000-2010 golden era of my life)
1:26:29 yes india te Bollywood sonar moto lok maximum thakleo rockers and metalhead aache kintu taader sonkha kom ....ki korbo bolun ekhane tv te only Bollywood er gaan e chole....😢😢
John er vocal international level er chilo always .... but sorry to say most of the other musician der bhitore ai tight bepar ta live e pawa jaito na .... don't blame the crowd and sound always ..... he need to have more skill and knowledge to attract the existing crowd and new crowd as well ....
I agree with the point that free shows should be stopped. bamba or someone should take this step that artists wont play in shows which are free of tickets. I dont go to shows anymore because of these unfiltered crowd who dont know the bands or maybe only know one song and they are in the concert only to create chaos and irritation.
