The fact that every single ANt colony had to be harrased by Gnome ants, proves you were Right to put them in. It was a perfect example of how dominant they had become. This is probably what happened to the previous weaver ant queens. Rather than the belief that smong ate the queens. Really eye-opening episode how the ecosystem can change so much.
@@austrolopitecosmart weaver ants usually don't end up in direct competition with other ants, from what I've seen. I'm not a biologist, I just spent my teens and 20s in the tropics, lots of green ants in Queensland. Their predators are lizards, spiders, and birds, usually. Basically anything that will tolerate the bites for the chance to eat them. Basically giving a huge weaver ant colony primacy in the canopy tank is in line with how things would be in nature. They'll probably be the apex predator, upstairs.
Peak Ants Canada. This episode was a rollercoaster of emotion to ride. I cursed loudly when it was over. You had me at the edge of my seat up until the last moment.
The Gnome ants are so underrated and undervalued. They're feisty, sneaky, and clever. They are the natural inheritors of the throne, as well. They won out against every other colony, outcompeting and outlasting the other tribes, despite Mikey's favoritism! They arose from humble, flower pot beginnings to chiefly dominate the landscape WITHOUT help of any kind. I think they are to be admired. If not, than at least respected.
Also, their house words are "grow strong", suiting their sigil of a tiny flower in a pot stemming from said humble beginnings. But will their cleverness be enough to let them reclaim the Tree Stump Throne in the now unfolding Battle of the 7 Bastants? Find out in the next episode! *roll intro music* An Ant An An An Ant An An An Ant An An An Ant....
Name for weaver ant colony: *THE NORNS* background: The Norns in nordic mythology are *FEMALES* weaving the life thread of humans (or cutting them off at the end of their lives). The three primary Norns Urðr (Wyrd), Verðandi, and Skuld draw water from their sacred well *to nourish the TREE at the center of THE COSMOS* and prevent it from rot. This would be very fitting, bc the weaver ant comolny come from a sorority of queens, and they will be placed in the tree top canopy vivarium 🙂
It's really interesting to see the diversity of different ant species in even just one detail, some where the queen is barely bigger than the workers, some where the queen is MASSIVE in comparison, and even colonies with no queen at all. Even such a common feature of ant species, is so unique and different between species, its really an amazing sight.
4:50 - Weavers = someone said Swarmageddon and I fell in love with that 13:50 - Giant Trap-Jaw = Bonesaws 16:56 - Trap-Jaw Ants = Jawbreakers 25:00 - Asian Bullet Ants = Militiants (militia+ant) or the Gunslingers 30:51 - Golden Spiny Ants = Silken Soldiers? Whatever their name, their lair should be Fort Knox: lots of gold, lots of defenses. 33:50 - Maurader Ants = Terra Avengers (to avenge the loss of the Raiders)
@AJStarhiker pretty sure he made it pretty clear last episode that godzilla can still be in here for a long time. He showed just how tiny he really is. Don't hold your breath mate.
You built a beautiful and functional Rainforest Ecosystem . And then ruined it by adding more and more ant species knowing they gonna start destroying each other.

Even though I love the Pantdora series, I missed the ants videos. Thank you for honoring the channel’s name! That’s why I followed you in the first place. Keep up with this amazing series
I'm Russian and it's hard to watch youtube for me due to blockage, and I do everything I can to continue watching these series! I just love this project
Introduces species that have majors and super majors into a tiny confined space with finite resources that needed to be fought over. "Then I started to feel...somewhat..guilty...that I was in a way responsible"
It's fascinating to see the social dynamics and reactions of the ants. The way the bullet ants fight for the honor of breeding, the way the gnome ants backed off so fast when just one was instantly crushed, the weaver ants working together and communicating so unified. It all seems so emotionally driven. I can't wait to see where the weaver ants go to dominate. 🐜🌿🧡
Lol, the Gnome Ants survived the initial introduction of ants, and were probably like "Augh, okay sisters, I believe that's all of them. We'll need time to recover, but I believe we'll..." _introduces weaver ants_ "OH LORD WHAT IS THAT!!!"
I've been watching you for years know when you used to be all about ants. The thing that captivated me was your ability to story tell and footage thats till this day unmatched..you are a natural at filming..much love from NZ

The Battle of Seven Armies The Marauders remind me of the Mines of Moria, little goblins that aren’t that tough, but they have HUGE trolls that burst in with them.
Favorite names I saw in the comments: Giant trap jaw ants - Mandibleorians Mini trap jaw ants - The pocket knives Bullet ants - Sharpshooters Marauder ants - Neo raiders Spiny ants - Golden weavers (made that up) Giant weaver ants - Silken horde
I think the titans need its well deserved return. Its had bad luck and now it will have a new better chance to have a life. The Titans will kick some ass and already have and still probably is lol
Though people are acting like you broke your rule on not putting ants in a vivarium together like it’s a cockfight, I know why you felt it didn’t apply. Because there’s more species than this in a part of the rainforest that size, there’s two or 3 colonies in the tree, 2 more around the base, 8 more 5 feet away, and even more coming in and out of the area. You know that competition is part of a healthy ecosystem and biodiversity has a way of balancing itself out. I think you should do this every 6-16 months based on your assessment of the ecosystem. Ant love forever!
Well yes and no. The way I would see it is that the rule was broken if he purposefully intended for there to be fights between ants which he said he did not ever wish to take part in. But if he is doing it to add biodiversity and help create a healthier ecosystem in a bioactive vivarium project while also trying to stay as close to nature as possible in a space that is rather large such as this one then the rule is thus voided, as even in nature fights break out over food, territory, just for running into each other randomly, etc. So if you are trying to get as close to nature as possible you have to be willing to accept all things that happen within nature including parts you dislike, even live feeding of insects which AntsCanada also had an issue with and has disregarded for this project due to the attempt to get as close to nature as possible while in such an enclosed space. I don't disagree with those who say the rule was broken, but I also do not agree with them, as they seem to have forgotten that this is an attempt to recreate nature within an enclosed space. I would also agree that keeping tabs on the biodiversity of various species would be very wise, that includes, ants, soil creatures, feeder insects (prey), etc. Add what is needed every so often, as fresh blood is always a good things, inbreeding even in insects isn't always a good thing so fresh bloodlines may keep the ecosystem going (the exception I'd think would be isopods, no idea what types of effects inbreeding has on them but new morphs can add lots of interesting colors and what not to the ecosystem, just some food for thought).

Just a tip about weaver ants. I live in Thailand and have a large multi nest colony in my back yard. These ants spend a lot of time on the floor looking for food. So if you keep them please have a space to forage on the ground. Just an observation. Maybe it helps them survive.
I couldn’t stop watching this video…I usually have a short attention span but these videos are so interesting and kept me enthralled that the end came too soon.
Name suggestions: Trap jaw ants - Mandibula's and/or Quick Draws Bullet ants - Kingrights (synonym for queenless) Weaver ants - Emerald army (because of the Latin name) Golden spiny ants - CoalTar gang Marauder ants - Highwaymen
I'm so happy to see this pop up on my feed!! I thought we may be skipping a week. Just want to give a huge shout out to Mikey for living his dream and all of us 6 MILLION STRONG for living every moment with him!! Congrats on 6M and Thank you so much for sharing Pantdora and Orchadia with us!!!

Yesterday my dad said he's going to build a 4x1.5x4 foot (lxdxh) terrarium for me similar to yours and now today is my birthday and I must say it's been an exciting 24hrs with that just before this video
@AntsCanada fr, there's even going to be a separate tank underneath connected via a pond opening which may house some guppies and an axolotl! Would you have any tips or tricks or anything for any part of it, it's my first time making a terrarium of this size
I’ve been watching this channel for 7 years and it’s insane how far the channels come well done to Mikey for keeping the channel as good as when it started👍
*** dont forget to do a LARGE "feeding" now that so many more colonies are in. They definitely need an influx of feeders, a load of new roaches and crickets would be helpful.
There are probably so many feeders in there. It’s been months and those breed and grow so quickly. He may have to add another medium sized hunter to combat the spiders eventually
I haven't watched this channel in so long and I come back to him pacing back and forth in front of a home made for a family of 4 sized ant terrarium like an evil villain...
Yeah I usually get into this channel for a few weeks and binge watch it then I take a few months off. Whenever I come back to it he impresses me with his new builds
It is absolutely one of the most interesting videos in 10 years of my youtube browsing. Absolutely an engrossing and enthralling masterpiece! Respect from South Korea, mate!

Mini trap jaw ants - The Strikers (after their first strike with the gnomads) 3. Bullet ants - The FBI (after the fact that the name bullet from the gun or that they are black) 3.5 Bullet ants second name suggestion - The Gladiators/ The Tributes (gladiators for the way they fight to be the gamergate/ tributes like the hunger games and only the strong survive and become the champion, in this case, the Gamergate. and also how sometimes the tributes will corporate and work together to survive the hunger games, in this case, tandem running) 4. Golden spiny ants - The Pantenes/ The Sunsilks (yes after the hair shampoo brand because 1. their abdomen just looks like shiny hair from the ads and 2. silk, silky hair, and... silk) 5. @@AntsCanada YO IVE BEEN SUBED TO YOU FOR A LONG TIME IVE BEEN WATCHING SINCE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL THANK YOU FOR HEARTING MY COMMENT IT WAS A DREAM OF MINE BRO!
The Marauder ants mission was the coolest out of all. Imagine, your god deploys you to new foreign lands, and you gotta scramble to secure the civilians/children or whatever precious cargo it is. You fight off hordes of humanoid aliens, some of them are powerful brutes, while the rest are relentless goblin things. Then a scout team finds a safe cave, and the migration begins. Soldiers carry precious cargo and form a long line. You get mortally injured by some of the aliens and the situation seems hopeless, but then a Titan unit comes charging through and makes even the aliens brute forces to run in fear. More Titans crawl past and then you catch one final glance of the glorious queen/commander who dwarfs even the Titan units. Your comrades carry the future of the colony to safety as you bleed to death… but a good death is its own reward (OMG IS THAT A MAN OF STEEL REFERENCE)
I'm so happy you added a new colony of Marauder ants. I cheered as they managed to fight off the gnome ants. As they feel like returning protagonists, their colony could be known as something like the Terra Guardians, as a nod to the previous name too, the terra raiders. Or maybe the Clay Custodians
Trapper Ants: Viking Raiders (Because their jaws are like axes) Bullet ants: Wild West Girls (Because they are bullet ants and the wild West had plenty of bullets flying). Lesser Weaver ants: Leaf Army Spiny Ants: Silk Dwarfs (Because they use silk to make nests into the ground like dwarfs mining a mountain). Raider Ants: Hallelujah Raiders Weaver ants: Silken Horde

@@jamesbolton2904 But they didn't "all kill each other right away". They skirmished and backed off. Have you ever seen an actual ant war? They happen in the sidewalks and backyards where I live all the time. Not saying that won't happen eventually, but you're acting like you were proved right when what you said didn't even happen yet. It's a vivarium, and he is clearly trying to find a balance of ant species that will coexist in a relatively large enclosed space. It's a worthy experiment that may help ant keepers of the future. We all dream of our colonies interacting and coexisting. Few people have the resources for experimenting. It took decades of experimentation to find the best balances of fish species... and I'm sure many fish died in the process. The knowledge has allowed the aquarium hobby to flourish. Insects will never be popular, but I'm glad someone is doing it and documenting their results.

You should add a crocodile skink! They live in the papua rainforests and you should get a pair and they are shy and that means they wont come out alot and they dont like being handled alot or pet but they looked so cute to not pat and when they get a lil too scarrd they freeze like they are dead
I like the name Tandemonium for the bullet ants. It is a blend of the words tandem and then pandemonium. I think is pretty cool since pandemonium not only is a reference to chaos, but in some mythology it is a reference for the place of all demons.

Im excited for the weaver ants, but considering they have had more time to develop, multi queen laying eggs, they will eventually over run this vivarium. At least thats my thought. Its going to a wild time over the next few weeks watching this.
Yeah, well youtube has 30 frames per second and the trapjaws mandibles can snap at over 200 feet per second, so you’d need a pretty high tech camera to capture it.

It's crazy every time I watch this I'm always Blown Away how long the episode is and how long it felt like because it goes by so quickly it reminds me of how I would get watching Nat Geo when I was a kid. well done man
It is crazy how every ant colony that you placed in became under the harassment of the Gnome Ants. I wonder that the green weaver ants did with that little piece of moss that they made that huge ant ladder for. I really loved this episode because it was a very big learning experience for you AC as well as the community. Can't wait until the next episode❣💯❣
It feels like yesterday you tried an experiment where you put multiple colonies of the same species of ant together to see if of they would join up and after one ant died you freaked out and abandoned the whole plan. Now you're creating armies to battle one another.
Bullet ants could be: full metal jacketers, hollow pointers, magnum assailants… Weaver ants could be Spinner Sackers, Spinner Stormers, Silken Stormers Trapjaw Large: mandible maurauders, mandible avengers, biting breachers Small trapjaw: little jaw meddlers. No reason to change the Nomad ants.
Technically, none of the 6 colonies are fighting each other, they're all fighting the gnome ants that seem to control every corner of the vivarium And one of the 6 colonies isn't even in the same part of the vivarium, being placed in the canopy above, where there shouldn't be any other ants
