I’m British but ‘clearly not British’ as they would have been sent right up there to clean it! My husband cringes at me! But no way do I accept a dirty room and have no issue telling the staff so! There is however no need to be rude I say, just don’t expect dirt in any paid situations 😊
@@kateking1980 I totally agree, you can just politely let them know that the room isn't clean. That's such an important factor when it comes to hotels, and should be a high priority. Plus, if I had a business, I'd rather folks give me honest, constructive feedback, so that I'd have the opportunity to improve their experience rather than have them walk away disappointed, and likely not keen on returning.
I think cleaners really want to do a good job generally but hotels will pay so little they have to hurry up way too much and it's physically impossible to do everything well in the short time given. They may be paid by the room. And I'd wash any cups before using.
It’s crazy how everyone’s reaction is so different if the receptionist called and asked if all was ok I would be TELLING her that it was not haha Grace is so British!
I would have politely complained about the dirty table and shower. They can't correct what they aren't aware of or address it with the housekeeping staff. It may feel impolite, but it's actually helping them to improve their hotel image.
Keeping in line with the London hotel stays/ reviews - any chance you'd try one of the Zedwell Hotels - they are underground with no windows/ natural light, bit of a nest(y) feel but not sure how to feel about them, with 4 different locations (Piccadilly Circus, Tottenham Court Road, Greenwich, Park Lane). Love the videos as always Grack and hope the pregnancy's going well!
Yes to doing it again! Also, love the addition of Mr Grack in the videos, even if he is only a disembodied voice! I agree with him on the hot food thing
i wonder what the benefit to the hotels is with the whole mystery booking service. sure they get their last minute rooms filled, but it’s at a far lower price, plus they probably have to pay this mystery company a fee. and the hotel can’t use their good reputation to get customers - they’re using a third party service, which some people might find a bit sketchy (let alone the whole mystery element).
I guess even a low price is more of a sale than the room staying empty 🤷♂️ and if the hotel themselves put up majorly discounted prices for last minute deals then it brings down their perceived value, if their customers see that rooms they usually spend £600 on are advertised for like £200 for last minute then it gives the impression that its not actually worth the higher price or its not as "fancy" as they're made to believe.
fill the room once at the mystery price, hope to get people back again direct , also if they are , as Grace suggests the kind of place that usually takes the Coach tours they can flex their availabiilty on the 'mystery' deals... why do i get the impression that only deserate foreign tourists pay the headline rate there
I feel like the best brekfast buffets or any type of food buffet I've had are from arabic/north afrcan contries because there's this huge hospitality culture of treating people who enter your home/place of business really well and feeding them. I went to a place that an airline arranged for me in egypt that had a doughnut tree at breakfast 🤯 also long haul ferry services can be pretty amazing too with the breakfasts
My tongue is firmly in my cheek when I say this as I totally respect Mr Grack’s privacy but ngl I do spend an unhealthy amount of time trying to glimpse him in reflections in your videos! 😆 could you maybe get one of those court room artists to do a pic of him to give us an idea? 😆😆 another great video, Grack ❤
The Strand grabs you with its stunning reception until you get to the bedrooms, so sneaky ! We stayed for 2 nights for £520, we were do disappointed, as you say Grace amazzzing location!
Ive just googled and covent garden travelodge you can get for abot 60 to 80 depending on day, booking in advance etc. When you see that, it doesnt seem worth it as the secret hote,l didnt seem much better. I stayed in the travelodge there a few years back, great location and a bog standard but clean and safe hotel. No breakfast buffet though!
Oh, what an interesting concept! I think the price point definitely comes from the central location, I definitely wouldn’t say the room would be worth it at the full price. It looks like it needs some updating / feels a bit dated but the breakfast hall and hallways looked quite new. I’ve payed more for a central location on trips before but it usually ends up levelling out as you can just walk to a lot of places (smaller cities than London though) when you’re central and save the money for public transport or taxis.
Great video! On theme of mystery, it would be cool to see you do one of those mystery trips like Journee or Pack Up and Go where you don't know where you are going until you get to the airport
Stayed there for a work trip and I thought it was insanely fancy. And man, so pricey if you don't book it mystery.. well, as they say - location location location.
Definitely come to the Parkcafe Jazz Brunch Buffet in Munich! It's only from October to April I think but they've got 30m of Buffet, live jazz music and each Week it's a different culinary theme (French, New Orleans, Bavarian, etc.). It's my absolute favourite!
I love your reaction to the rituals😂 I'm Dutch and rituals is like the christmas gift for someone you don't really know or that yiu get from your employer:p I love my rituals shampoo and conditioner though, you can mix them in store and it's like 30 euros for a set Such a steal
Hi Grace, could try this on your vlog channel or main but would you be able to try out Fat Rascals (Yorkshire Scones which come in so many different flavours) from Betty’s Tearoom? It’s a massive brand in Yorkshire and I think you might like to try the variety of options you can get. You can order online or go over to one of the many branches in Yorkshire yourself. I discovered them recently after going to their original cafe in Harrogate. I went for the Gooey Rascal (which has chocolate chips and salted caramel in the middle) and I can’t stop thinking about it. It was served with a small portion of whipped cream which hit the spot. I think you would like this one 😄
Love that you shouted Tim out, yourself and him are great RU-vidrs! Love the review, unless it was a weekend I don’t think the room was worth £175, im a silver Hilton Honors member and I believe you would of got a room for that price in the Hilton for the night, which would of been a bigger more premium room and maybe access to a pool also!
I am a new subscriber I love your videos. You remind me of my daughter. I think £200 is still quite expensive compared to premiere inn . Great video well done
I just got back from Japan and the Grand Nikko Hotel Maihama Bay in Tokyo (close to Disneyland!) has THE BEST breakfast buffet, you would love it!! It was huge, so many options!
We usually stay in a Z Hotel - great locations around loads of key areas in London, always clean and cheaper than where you stayed. Also sometimes they give you free cheese and wine. Small rooms but generally really good.
I stayed there last year when visiting family and I don't remember what I paid- but most def not 400 pounds! I did love the included chocolate ahah but the buffet was DELISH!
As someone who stayed in the San Francisco Tenderloin because you cant beat a $50 room (in 08), im chuckling...and glad you arent staying in the kind of places i do lol...
What is it about hotel breakfast buffets? I don't particularly like breakfast but when I stay in an hotel I'm gourging myself with all manner of breakfast paraphernalia......loving the videos
I want all your tips for finding good hotel deals lol. I'm good at finding deals but I feel I'm not as good as I could be. Also cheap travel deals as well would be a help.
I rate this hotel for location (I have stayed here before ) but I wasn’t blown away by the room itself, I had paid extra for the premium room and would expect little extras like a bathrobe or minibar/fridge in a premium room… that said, I’d stay here again, I’d just not bother splashing out any extra on a room, the standard will be just as good. Location though - absolute top notch!
I hate confrontation but I would’ve asked for another room that was clean. Seems like if it was clean, and you are a tourist and need a good location, it may be worth it. But without knowing the other options around the area for a similar price I’m iffy on if it’s worth it or not.
omg, that bed was tiny. I love Sloane Square area the best in London. That was a pricey hotel and if Mr Grack wants three sausages he gets them without judgement. Room was defo not worth the price.
Me: *always searches for bugs in reviews* I got bitten ruthlessly by bedbugs when I stayed in London in October (won't name the hostel name), but not a great start to moving over here! So paranoid about bbs now!
Grace check to see if they have a clothes iron or a hair dryer that will reach the bed. Pull the blanket away until you get to the sheets and iron the edge of the bed until it heats up the pull the sheet back to check for bedbugs.
I mean this kindly, but please consider that sometimes a higher price doesn't mean better quality. Even at half price it might not be "worth it" going for these supposed deals. If their reason for cutting the price is just to fill up empty rooms, that might explain why it was so dirty/dusty. Your money is better spent elsewhere!
Yeah but when something is higher price and generally a better area than say for example price of a prem inn or travel lodge. In my opinion you would expect better just because you’re paying more. Hence why the luxury hotels are top money for example staying at the shard etc. or a top restaurant you expect to pay more money. But you’re right in the sense of it isn’t always “better” in every aspect. It’s what we expect tho
Grace they would have sent someone up to clean the muck up if you had mentioned it. And it's not rude, it's getting what you paid for. They also want to know if their service is what it should be.
It wast a bad hotel but the cleanliness was a little bit questionable. In my opinion it wasn’t worth over £400 but maybe most people had deals. The main thing it had going for it was as you said the location
I stayed at a mystery hotel i London 10 years ago, it was no great, it was not clean, the pictures were nailed to the Walls, and the tv was bolted to the table, and it was huge. Never doing that again.
Grace lovely lady, really enjoyed this video. Also, I don’t think you can eat cold meats when pregnant. My sister is pregnant also and didn’t know this either. So I thought I’d let you know incase. Not sure if you ate it but just letting you know is it was news to me too when I found out 🤍🤍
yeah, in my country you are "not allowed" to eat all cold/deli meats, any raw meat, fish, eggs (meringe has raw egg whites) and any non pasteurised cheeses and milk products. maybe in the uk the recommendations are different?
