Ilse is actually a “local girl” to me although I never bumped into her once. Nowadays she lives in the middle of the Netherlands close to her studio. But she comes back very regular as her mom still lives here and they are very close. She is someone who after her initial success seemed to wither away a bit but took total control of her own career and soon again flourished like never before. She has done pop, rock, ballads but at her core she is a country girl and when she does that she is at her best. Still hope that one day she is gonna make a bluegrass album.

One of my favorite heartache songs of all time. This particular songs reminds me of my little Boo Tiffle Bear, Pomeranian love bug. We loved to take walks in the fall leaves. He died at 10 years old very suddenly of broken heart valve. My grandfur baby who spent most days with Boo, died 5 days earlier. The vet said it is not unusual for pets to die of broken heart syndrome as well. I miss them both.. I now have a very special big boy Pom Blake to love on, but boy does this song bring back memories of my beloved Boo.

Love this song. Lovely sung by Ilse. But this song, that was written for 9-11, was also played by Iris Kroes on harp after the MH17 crash in 2014 and reminds me of our country being in mourning totally, the loss of lives and the everlasting grief for their beloved ones.

funny how things work in music and the way people react to it.. in the beginning of this performance the solo of the guitarist wasn't welcommed with an applause and then the guy with a trumpet comes on half way the song and gets a hardfelt applause..
