Ricky Van Shelton sings an original song during a live performance on
Austin City Limits 11/24/1987. Musicians are Drake Leonard (Bass), Mike
Blasucci (Lead Guitar), Tommy Hannum (Steel) and Billy Goodness (Drums). The song was originally released on the B-side of his single, "I Cried My Last Tear" back in 1988, and is recorded on his CD, "RVS III".

Ricky Van Sheldon, in my opinion, is one of the finest country singers of all time. Noted for his gospel recordings and his pure country sound. He puts more emotion into his songs than just about any other singer. Hank Sr. and Johnny Horton are two of the others that compare.

It doesn't seam that long ago . I was hooked on his music. That voice it would capture you and say listen. A magical voice. I sure miss his music. I saw a interview he did on cable TV. About how he had to go this way and that way. To get to producers to hear his music. I am so glad you never gave up. Thank you for posting these song I have never heard.

Hey Ricky you have given us some of the best music ever. Statue of a Fool is the best. I went to a little county fair in Forksville,Pa. many years ago and saw the true person you are. You were on that little stage in front of all and you didn’t act like we were beneath you. I got pictures of you with your permission. My favorite singer since he came onto the scene. I was a member of his fan club as a teen, bought all his records even done a sketch of him and sent it to the fan club (they were supposed to send it to him, as an adult, I'm sure they didn't....) love his music, all oof it....but this is probably one of my absolute favorites ever. Miss hearing new stuff from him. Hoping he enjoys his retirement and quality time with his wife. They have certainly earned it!!!

As a teenager I babysat my nephew and when we would get in the car with me he would ask me to listen to "Ricky Belta Shelton" as he called him. Wonderful memories to treasure. Truly hope y'all enjoy your time together without a lot of unwanted media drama ... you deserve it. Will continue to listen to his music always. Great performance. RVS III was one of the albums that got me interested in country music, and led me to buy Ricky's previous albums, then every album that came after. Fantastic to see this song sung live.
